Genetic Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci for Contents of Mineral Nutrients in Rice Grain

In present study, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Ca, Mg, P and K contents of 85 introgression lines （ILs） derived from a cross between an elite indica cultivar Teqing and the wild rice （Oryza rufipogon） were measured by inductively coupled argon plasma （ICAP） spectrometry. Substantial variation was observed for all traits and most of the mineral elements were significantly positive correlated or independent except for Fe with Cu. A total of 31 putative quantitative trait loci （QTLs） were detected for these eight mineral elements by single point analysis. Wild rice （O. rufipogon） contributed favorable alleles for most of the QTLs （26 QTLs）, and chromosomes 1,9 and 12 exhibited 14 QTLs （45%） for these traits. One major effect of QTL for zinc content accounted for the largest proportion of phenotypic variation （11%-19%） was detected near the simple sequence repeats marker RM152 on chromosome 8. The co-locations of QTLs for some mineral elements observed in this mapping population suggested the relationship was at a molecular level among these traits and could be helpful for simultaneous improvement of these traits in rice grain by marker assisted selection.

The gut microbiota is a complex community of microorganisms that inhabit the digestive tracts of humans,living in symbiosis with the ***,characterized by an imbalance between the beneficial and opportunistic gut microbiota,is associated with several gastrointestinal disorders,such as irritable bowel syndrome(IBS);inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),represented by ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease;and colorectal cancer(CRC).Dysbiosis can disrupt the mucosal barrier,resulting in perpetuation of inflammation and *** increase in some specific groups of harmful bacteria,such as Escherichia coli(***)and enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis(ETBF),has been associated with chronic tissue inflammation and the release of pro-inflammatory and carcinogenic mediators,increasing the chance of developing CRC,following the inflammationdysplasia-cancer sequence in IBD ***,the aim of the present review was to analyze the correlation between changes in the gut microbiota and the development and maintenance of IBD,CRC,and IBD-associated *** with IBD and CRC have shown reduced bacterial diversity and abundance compared to healthy individuals,with enrichment of Firmicute sand *** bacteria are also associated with the onset and progression of CRC,such as Fusobacterium nucleatum,***,Enterococcus faecalis,Streptococcus gallolyticus,and *** research can evaluate the advantages of modulating the gut microbiota as preventive measures in CRC high-risk patients,directly affecting the prognosis of the disease and the quality of life of patients.

Landscape changes have caused the decline of biodiversity and affected the integrity of aquatic *** this study,we assessed the influence of industrialization associated with urban development on aquatic environments and the biodiversity of semiaquatic bugs(Gerromorpha)at different scales(water quality,habitat,and landscape).Using the simple buffer method,we evaluated nine streams assessing water quality variables,habitat structure,and linear features(radius¼300 m,length¼600 m)for the percentage of land use and land *** results found that species composition of Gerromorpha was mainly affected by primary forest cover,habitat integrity,leaves substrate,and water temperature(29%explanation),and the species richness was mostly influenced by the habitat integrity index(HII)and phosphorus *** model that best explained the variation in species richness showed a positive relationship with phosphorus concentrations and HII(43%variation).Therefore,our results show that those human activities are the main factors altering aquatic biodiversity from local to regional ***,the retention of riparian forests–even in urban and industrialized areas–can maintain the diversity of semiaquatic insect species by providing suitable environments for the habitat,feeding,and reproductive requirements of these aquatic ***,our results also show that the management of riparian vegetation in urban areas and industrial complexes promotes aquatic biodiversity conservation in regions under development in the Amazon.

Polymorphisms of the TLR2 and TLR4 genes are associated with risk of gastric cancer in a Brazilian population

AIM:To investigate toll-like receptor 2(TLR2)-196 to-174 del,and TLR4(+896A/G rs4986790 and +1196C/T rs4986791) polymorphisms at risk of chronic gastritis and gastric cancer in a Brazilian population and association of gastric lesions with risk factors such as smoking,alcohol intake and Helicobacter pylori ***:In this case-control study,polymorphism at TLR2-196 to-174 del was investigated by using the allele-specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR) method,while the PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique was carried out to identify the TLR4(rs4986790 and rs4986791) genotypes in 607 Brazilian individuals(208 with chronic gastritis-CG,174 with gastric cancer-GC and 225 controls-C).RESULTS:The single nucleotide polymorphisms TLR4 +1196C/T was not associated with risk of chronic gastritis or gastric cancer and the homozygous genotypes TLR4 +896GG and TLR4 +1196TT were absent in the studied ***,the frequency of TLR2-196 to-174 ins/del + del/del and TLR4 +896AG genotypes was significantly higher(P < 0.01 and P = 0.01,respectively) in the cancer group(33.4% and 11.5%,respectively) than in the control group(16.9% and 4.5%,respectively).It was also observed that the G-C haplotype of the TLR4 +896A/G+1196C/T(P = 0.02) and the combination of variant alleles of the TLR2 /TLR4 +896G(P = 0.02) are associated with susceptibility to gastric *** addition,the multiple logistic regression showed that male gender [odds ratio(OR) = 2.70;95% CI:1.66-4.41;P < 0.01],alcohol intake(OR = 2.93;95% CI:1.76-4.87;P < 0.01),TLR2-196 to-174 del(OR = 2.64;95% CI:1.56-4.44;P < 0.01) and TLR4 +896G(OR = 3.19;95% CI:1.347.61;P < 0.01) polymorphisms were associated with a higher susceptibility to developing this ***:Our data indicate that TLR2-196 to-174 del and TLR4 +896G may increase the risk of gastric cancer in a Brazilian population.

Background This study aimed to estimate vaccine effectiveness(VE)against omicron variant infection and severe corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)in children aged 5–11 years hospitalized with acute respiratory *** A test-negative,case–control analysis was conducted from February 2022 to June *** enrolled 6950 eligible children,including 1102 cases and 5848 *** was calculated after immunization with one and two doses of BNT162b2 or *** outcomes were hospitalization with acute respiratory symptoms and detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection and severe *** adjusted odds ratio for the association of prior vaccination and outcomes was used to estimate *** For fully vaccinated children,the overall estimated VE against hospitalization with SARS-CoV-2 infection was 42%[95%confidence interval(CI)26 to 54].VE peaked at 29–42 days(67%,95%CI 40%to 82%)and then declined to 19%(95%CI,−20%to 45%)at 57–120 days after the second *** BNT162b2 vaccine had a similar VE against hospitalization with SARS-CoV-2 infection(45%,95%CI,20 to 61)compared to the CoronaVac vaccine(40%,95%CI,17%to 56%).Among cases,56(5%)children died;53(94.6%)were not fully *** cases,the two-dose schedule effectiveness against ICU admission,need for invasive ventilation,severe illness,and death were 10%(95%CI,−54%–45%),22%(95%CI−70%–68%),12%(95%CI,−62%–52%),and 16%(95%CI,−77%–75%),*** For hospitalized children aged 5–11 years during the omicron-predominant period in Brazil,two doses of both vaccines had moderate effectiveness against hospitalization with acute respiratory symptoms and SARS-CoV-2 infection and offered limited protection against endpoints of COVID-19 severity.

Peripheral nerve injuries （PNI） are a major clinical prob- lem. In general, PNI results from motor vehicle accidents, lacerations with sharp objects, penetrating trauma （gunshot wounds） and stretching or crushing trauma and fractures. It is estimated that PNI occur in 2.8% of trauma patients and this number reaches 5% if plexus and root lesions are in- cluded. However, due to lack of recent epidemiological stud- ies, these data probably underestimate the actual number of nerve injuries
