Postural control quantification in minimally and moderately impaired persons with multiple sclerosis:The reliability of a posturographic test and its relationships with functional ability

Endoscopic ultrasound in oncology:An update of clinical applications in the gastrointestinal tract

An accurate staging is necessary to select the best treatment and evaluate prognosis in oncology. Staging usually begins with noninvasive imaging such ascomputed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging or positron emission tomography. In the absence of distant metastases, endoscopic ultrasound plays an important role in the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal tumors, being the most accurate modality for localregional staging. Its use for tumor and nodal involvement in pre-surgical evaluation has proven to reduce unnecessary surgeries. The aim of this article is to review the current role of endoscopic ultrasound in the diagnosis and staging of esophageal, gastric and colorectal cancer.

Transient Power and Quality Events Analysed Using Hilbert Transforms

This work presents an advanced mathematical tool applicable to the recognition and classification of power system transients and disturbances. Disturbances without a periodic pattern or with a non-linear pattern require a more suitable tool than the Fourier series （Fast Fourier or Windowed Fourier Transforms）. To overcome these drawbacks, other tools have been broadly used, such as the wavelet transform. However, the wavelet transform also has some drawbacks such as the lack of adaptivity or interpretation of nonlinear phenomena that the Hilbert and Hilbert Huang Transform techniques could mitigate. The Hilbert techniques transform a time domain function into a space representation both in time and frequency. In the paper, the technique is applied to analyse several short-term and steady events, like a short circuit, a capacitor-switching transient, or a line energisation, showing the abilities of the Hilbert-based transforms.

Clinical observation of Breast Conserving Surgery and Modified Radical Mastectomy in the Treatment of Early Breast Cancer

The purpose of the study was to compare the clinical efficacy of breast conserving surgery and modified radical mastectomy in the treatment of early breast ***,the clinical data of 74 patients with early breast cancer treated in our hospital from June 2015 to June 2016 were retrospectively *** them,37 patients treated with breast-conserving surgery were set as the study group,and 37 patients treated with modified radical surgery were set as the control group,and the therapeutic effects of the two groups were *** results showed that compared with the control group,the incision length,intraoperative blood loss,operation time and hospital stay time were better in the study group,and the excellent and good rate of postoperative breast beauty was higher,with statistically significant differences(Po statistically significant differences in distant metastasis rate,local recurrence rate,axillary lymph node recurrence rate and fatality rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Therefore,breast-conserving surgery and modified radical surgery have better efficacy in the treatment of early breast cancer,but breast-conserving surgery has more advantages,such as smaller incision,less intraoperative blood loss,shorter operative time and hospital stay,and better postoperative aesthetic effect,which can be used as the first choice for early breast cancer.

Biopesticide production using Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki by valorization of starch industry wastewater and effluent from aerobic,anaerobic digestion

Introduction Unconventional alternatives such as aerobic and anaerobic effluent from starch industry contain essential nutrients for Btk active ingredient *** from starch industry is rich in carbon and nitrogen and can replace expensive feedstock used during the fermentation *** The main objective of this study was to achieve a biopesticide formulation from starch industry wastewater(SIW)with high entomotoxicity(UI/ml)of larvae comparable to Foray 76B,which is a commercial *** Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki HD1(Btk)strain was cultivated and sub-cultured to aerobic,anaerobic digested effluent and ***-treatment was carried on these different substrates to enhance the residual carbon required for Btk growth and delta endotoxin *** 48 hours of fermentation,cells count and delta-endotoxin were determined.A biopesticide formulation containing fermented broth and adjuvants was fed to larvae to determine larvae *** Btk cell growth and sporulation profile in SIW media displayed a high total cell count and viable spores compared to btk growth in anaerobic or aerobic media after 48h *** maximum endotoxin concentration in the SIW medium was 435μg/mL,whereas,in anaerobic and aerobic effluent,the maximum concentrations were at 161μg/mL and 136μg/mL,*** acidic treatment was performed at pH 2 for these substrates,entomotoxicity obtained from aerobic and anaerobic biopesticide formulations displayed significantly higher entomoxicity than the untreated *** entomotoxicity of SIW treated at pH 2 was equivalent to the standard Foray 76B which is 20,000 IU/μ*** Anaerobic and aerobic effluent did not contain enough total organic carbon to augment Btk growth and *** pre-treated at pH 2 provided significant organic matter for Btk growth and resulted in larval mortality equivalent to the com ercial biopesticide Foray 76B.

Background:Because of the increasing life expectancy in our society,aging-related neurodegenerative disorders are one of the main issues in global *** of these diseases are characterized by the deposition of misfolded proteins and a progressive cognitive *** these diseases,Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and dementia with Lewy bodies(DLB)are the most common types of degenerative *** both show specific features,an important neuropathological and clinical overlap between them hampers their correct *** this work,we identified molecular biomarkers aiming to improve the misdiagnosis between both ***:Plasma extracellular vesicles(EVs)-from DLB,AD and healthy controls-were isolated using size-exclusion chromatography(SEC)and characterized by flow cytometry,Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis(NTA)and cryo-electron *** Generation Sequencing(NGS)and related bibliographic search was performed and a selected group of EV-associated microRNAs(miRNAs)was analysed by ***:Results uncovered two miRNAs(hsa-miR-451a and hsa-miR-21-5p)significantly down-regulated in AD samples respect to DLB patients,and a set of four miRNAs(hsa-miR-23a-3p,hsa-miR-126-3p,hsa-let-7i-5p,and hsamiR-151a-3p)significantly decreased in AD respect to *** two miRNAs showing decreased expression in AD in comparison to DLB provided area under the curve(AUC)values of 0.9 in RoC curve analysis,thus suggesting their possible use as biomarkers to discriminate between both *** gene analysis of these miRNAs using prediction online tools showed accumulation of phosphorylation enzymes,presence of proteasome-related proteins and genes involved in cell death among ***:our data suggest that plasma-EV associated miRNAs may reflect a differential profile for a given dementia-related disorder which,once validated in larger cohorts of patients,could help to improve the differential diagnosis of DLB versus AD.

This study gives a comparison between what occurs when braking on a MoT （Ministry of Transport） brake tester. The results from this research and the exhaustive comparative study carried out by the mechanical engineering staffs at the mechanical laboratory at MoT stations in cities such as： Elche, Pilar de la Horadada and orihuela from Alicante region [2] have led to the following main conclusions： this paper demonstrates that MoT brake testing results can vary depending on parameters variation such as： distance between rollers, roller diameter, roughness of rollers and velocity of the brake test.

Cross-over Assessment of the AmbuAuraGain, LMA Supreme New Cuff and Intersurgical I-Gel in Fresh Cadavers

Background: The AmbuAuraGain is a new single-use supraglottic airway device with gastric channel designed to facilitate intubation. The aim of the study was to assess the anatomic position and the performance of the AuraGain in fresh cadavers compared to that of the Intersurgical i-gel and LMA Supreme New Cuff. Methods: The 3 devices were inserted in random order in 7 fresh cadavers without difficult airway criteria. The assessed items were: Insertion time, number of attempts and ease of insertion, airway seal pressure, ease of gastric tube insertion, endoscopic view of vocal cords, efficacy of guided tracheal intubation through the AuraGain and i-gel, and anatomic fit by lateral X-ray and neck dissections. Results: All devices were successfully inserted within 3 attempts, except for one case of the LMA Supreme. Adjusting manoeuvres were often required to accomplish correct insertion. A 16 G gastric tube was easily advanced through all AuraGain and LMA Supreme devices. Fiberoptic tracheal intubation was effectively achieved through all AuraGain and i-gel devices in less than 60 s. Lateral X-ray and neck dissections confirmed optimal alignment of all devices with the respiratory and digestive tracts. Conclusions: Insertion of the new AmbuAuraGain required adjusting manoeuvres in some cases, as observed with the other two devices, and achieved similar airway seal pressures. Passage of a large bore gastric tube was as fast as with the LMA Supreme and ease of guided intubation was similar to that of the i-gel.

Spanish Extreme Winds and Their Relationships with Atlantic Large-Scale Atmospheric Patterns

The purpose of this work is to review procedures to obtain relationships between wind and large-scale atmospheric fields, with special emphasis on extreme situation results. Such relationships are obtained by using different methods and techniques such as wind cumulative probability functions and composite maps. The analyses showed different mean atmospheric situations associated with the different wind patterns, in which strong atmospheric gradients can be related to moderate to strong winds in Spain. Additionally, a statistical downscaling analog model, developed by the authors, is used for diagnosing large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns and subsequently estimating extreme wind probabilities. From an atmospheric circulation pattern set obtained by multivariate methodology applied to a large-scale atmospheric circulation field, estimations of wind fields, particularly extreme winds, are obtained by means of the analogs methodology. Deterministic and probabilistic results show that gust behaviour is quite better approximated than mean wind speed, in general. The model presents some underestimations except for strong winds. Moreover, the model shows better probabilistic wind results over the Spanish northern area, highlighting that the atmospheric situations coming from the Atlantic ocean are better recovered to predict mean wind and gusts in the Northern Peninsula.
