Gradient microstructure,recrystallization and mechanical properties of copper processed by high pressure surface rolling

The microstructure,hardness and tensile properties have been studied in copper processed by high pressure surface rolling(HPSR)both in the as-deformed condition and after subsequent annealing at 150℃.It is found that a gradient structure with significant differences in the scale of microstructural features is formed by *** deformed microstructure varies from nano-and ultrafine-scale structures with a large fraction of high angle boundaries near the surface to lightly deformed grains at depths of 1-3 mm below the *** tests of 1-mm-thick specimens demonstrate that the asdeformed material has a high strength and a low uniform *** at 150℃results in partial recrystallization,which creates new through-thickness *** for the topmost layer and several bands in the adjacent layer,recrystallization is more pronounced close to the *** fraction recrystallized is at least 80%at depths of 60-300μm after annealing for 960 *** fraction recrystallized in the subsurface decreases with increasing depth,and the deformed layer at depths greater than 500μm re-mains largely non-recrystallized after *** partially recrystallized condition demonstrates an improved combination of strength and ductility.

Geochemical and mineralogical studies were performed in the la Pesca(lP)and Tesoro Altamira(TA)beach sediments,located in the Tamaulipas state,northern Gulf of *** main aim of this study is to infer the weathering history and provenance and to discriminate the tectonic environment of the beach *** sediments are composed of quartz with small amounts of accessory minerals such as plagioclase,calcite,orthoclase,microcline,and *** beach sediments are classified as fine-grained and very well sorted,however lP has coarse skewed and leptokurtic sediments,whereas TA has fine-skewed and very leptokurtic *** chemical index of weathering(CIW’)indicates intense weathering in the source *** quartz grain microtextures in the lP and TA are classified into mechanical,chemical,and mechanical/chemical *** features such as fractures,pits,percussion marks,abrasion fatigue,and v-shaped marks favor high-energy littoral,fluvial,subaqueous-marine,and aeolian *** chemical features indicate solution pits and crystalline overgrowth,which suggests a silica saturated marine *** mechanical/chemical features display adhering particles and elongated depressions suggest formation in a sub-aqueous nearshore marine *** and trace elements-based provenance discrimination diagrams indicate a felsic source derived from the Mesa Central(MC),Sierra Madre oriental(SMor)and oaxaquia *** major and trace element concentrations imply a passive margin setting for the northern Gulf of Mexico,which is consistent with the general geology.

volcanic Risk Perception and Coping Strategies from Mounts Cameroon and Nyiragongo Eruptions, Central Africa: A Comparative Analysis

Approximately 2,000,000 people are exposed to volcanic risks in communities situated at the flanks of Mounts Cameroon (MC) and Nyiragongo (MN) volcanoes in Central Africa. This study therefore sought to investigate risk perception from four previous eruptions of MC, namely the 1959, 1982, 1999, and 2000 eruptions;and two previous eruptions of MN: 1977 and 2002. The study was initiated with co-design workshops held with major stakeholders in the cities of Buea and Goma at the flanks of MC and MN, respectively, in 2017, to develop the research objectives for the study. A non-random questionnaire survey was later conducted within 14 and 15 communities in Buea and Goma respectively, on the effects, perceived risks, and coping strategies for the chosen eruptions. Three age groups (18 - 30, 31 - 45 and >45 years) and gender (male and female) were considered. The population at the flanks of both volcanoes cited scientific and indigenous factors to be responsible for eruptions from these volcanoes. At MC and MN, ≥45% of the sampled participants (with a higher female population) perceived that the sampled eruptions posed a very high risk to the population. In terms of the effects, the age group of 18 - 30 was the least knowledgeable. In terms of direct effect on persons, over 90% of participants at MC and MN attested that they were overcome by fear/panic. on measures to cope with any likely eruption, the following order was established at the flanks of both volcanoes: sensitization of population, use of religious (prayers) and of traditional/indigenous strategies. In terms of future coping strategies, while the males at MC maintained sensitization as the favourite option, 62% of the males at MN opted for traditional/indigenous strategies. The female population at both MC and MN showed a higher preference for religious strategies like prayers.

The United Nations(UN)’s call for a decade of“ecosystem restoration”was prompted by the need to address the extensive impact of anthropogenic activities on natural *** ecosystem restoration is increasingly necessary due to increasing habitat degredation in deep waters(>200 m depth).At these depths,which are far beyond those accessible by divers,only established and emerging robotic platforms such as remotely operated vehicles(Rovs),autonomous underwater vehicles(AUvs),landers,and crawlers can operate through manipulators and multiparametric sensor arrays(e.g.,optoacoustic imaging,omics,and environmental probes).The use of advanced technologies for deep-sea ecosystem restoration can provide:①high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)imaging and acoustic mapping of substrates and key taxa,②physical manipulation of substrates and key taxa,③real-time supervision of remote operations and long-term ecological monitoring,and④the potential to work ***,we describe how robotic platforms with in situ manipulation capabilities and payloads of innovative sensors could autonomously conduct active restoration and monitoring across large spatial *** expect that these devices will be particularly useful in deep-sea habitats,such as①reef-building cold-water corals,②soft-bottom bamboo corals,and③soft-bottom fishery resources that have already been damaged by offshore industries(i.e.,fishing and oil/gas).

Effect of silica source on photocatalytic properties of Bi_(2)o_(3)/Bi_(2)Sio_(5) heterostructure

The Bi_(2)o_(3)/Bi_(2)Sio_(5) heterostructures were obtained with various samples of silica as a precursor:on the basis of biogenic silica isolated from rice husk and rice straw and the silica of mineral ori-gin.A mixture of Bi(No_(3))_(3) and Sio_(2) with a mass content of 15%was used for synthesizing all the *** transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray phase,X-ray fluorescence,and ultraviolet-visible diffused reflectance spectroscopy(Uv-vis DRS)were used to systematically characterize as-obtained *** of methyl orange in neutral aqueous solutions(pH=6.8)under Uv irradiation was studied to evaluate their photocatalytic ***,bandgaps,the value of the zero charge point,and photo-catalytic activity of the samples depended on the characteristics of the original *** degree of methyl orange degradation reached the maximum values(81%−85%)for samples based on precipitated silica from rice husks,straw,and the minimum value(16%)for a composite with thermal silica from rice *** based on thermal silica from rice husks and reagents from mineral raw materials did not statistically differ from each other in the degree of methyl orange degradation(67%−74%).

Stable Nio-Ceo_(2) nanoparticles with improved carbon resistance for methane dry reforming

High surface area mixed oxide 8.7%Nio-Ceo_(2) nanoparticles(122 m2/g;6-7 nm)were prepared using a reversed microemulsion method,and were tested for dry methane reforming(DRM).The catalytic activity of these nanoparticles remains stable under the severe conditions of DRM(700℃),and they show better carbon resistance than conventional Nio-Ceo_(2) catalysts prepared without control of the *** activity and selectivity of nanoparticles and reference catalyst are similar,but nanoparticles reduce the accumulation of carbon by 63%during the DRM tests,which is a key feature for this *** and H_(2)-TPR suggest that the improved carbon resistance of the nanoparticles is due to the better interaction and cooperation between Nio and Ceo_(2) mixed *** nanoparticles,the participation of cerium cations in the redox processes taking place during DRM stabilizes cationic species of *** the contrary,the catalyst prepared without control of the size suffers segregation of Ni during DRM reaction,and segregated Ni explains the higher catalytic formation of carbon.

高活性MoF基催化剂的设计和合成为促进动力学不利的氧还原反应(oRR)过程开辟了新的途径.本研究通过在ZIF-8前驱体表面涂覆二茂铁甲酸,然后进行两步炭化工艺,设计和制备了一种具有新型结构的高效电催化剂,以提高oRR性能.两步炭化过程对于将热解Fe_(3)C纳米颗粒封装到碳纳米管(CNTs)中以及将Fe单原子隔离到N掺杂碳(NC)基体上至关重要.此外,Fe元素的相对含量对优化催化剂的oRR性能至关重要.所制得Fe_(3)C@CNTs/NC-M催化剂结构先进,在碱性溶液中表现出良好的长期稳定性和电催化oRR性能,其半波电位和极限电流分别达到0.941 v和6.31 mA cm^(-2).此外,该电催化剂在甲醇溶液中具有较强的耐受性和良好的稳定性.Fe_(3)C@CNTs/NC-M锌空气电池(ZAB)具有1.525 v的开路电位,420 mA cm^(-2)时的峰值功率密度为348 mW cm^(-2),10 mA cm^(-2)时的最大容量为843 mA h g_(Zn)^(-1).因此,这种合成策略为构建具有有效和稳定的oRR性能的MoF基电催化材料提供了一条有效途径.

lake Chany is the largest endorheic lake in Siberia whose catchment is entirely on the territory of *** geographical location on the climate-sensitive boundary of wet and dry landscapes provides an opportunity to gain more knowledge about environmental changes in the West Siberian interior during the Holocene and about the evolution of the lake *** cores obtained from the Yarkov subbasin of the lake in 2008 have been comprehensively studied by a number of approaches including sedimentology and AMS dating,pollen,diatom and chironomid analyses(with statistical interpretation of the results),mineralogy of authigenic minerals and geochemistry of plant lipids(biomarker analysis.).Synthesis of new results presented here and published data provides a good justification for our hypothesis that lake Chany is very young,no older than 3.6 ka *** that,between 9 and 3.6 ka BP,the Chany basin was a swampy landscape with a very low sedimentation rate;it could not be identified as a water *** the early lake phase,between 3.6 and 1.5 ka BP,the lake was shallow,1.2–3.5 m in depth,and it rose to its modern size,up to 6.5 m in depth,during the last *** data reveal important changes in the understanding of the history of this large endorheic lake,as before it was envisioned as a large lake with significant changes in water level since ca.14 ka *** addition to hydrology,our proxies provide updates and details of the regional vegetation and climate change since ca.4 ka BP in the WestSiberian forest-steppe and *** evolution of the Chany basin is dependent on hydroclimatic changes in a large region of southern West Siberia,we compare lake-level change and climate-change proxies from the other recently and most comprehensively studied lakes of the region.
