The corrosion and tribocorrosion behavior of Ti6Al4V/xTiN(x=0,5,10 and 15,vol.%)composites fabricated by solid-state sintering and their relationship with the microstructure and microhardness were *** body conditions such as a temperature of 37℃ and a simulated body fluid were *** main results demonstrated a microstructural change caused by theα-Ti stabilization due to solid-solution of nitrogen(N)into the titanium(Ti)lattice,producing a maximum hardening effect up to 109%for the Ti64 matrix by using 15 vol.%*** potentials of composites changed to more noble values with the TiN particle addition,while corrosion current density of samples increased as an effect of the remaining porosity,decreasing the corrosion resistance of ***,changes to a less passive behavior were observed for samples with 15 vol.%*** non-passive behavior of composites resulted in the reduction of the potential drops during rubbing in tribocorrosion ***,an improvement of up to 88%of the wear rate of composites was seen from the solid-solution *** results allowed to understand the relationship between composition and sintering parameters with the improved tribocorrosion performance of materials.

Effect of laser shock processing on erosive resistance of 6061-T6 aluminum

Application of laser shock processing （LSP） on 6061-T6 aluminum was made in order to evaluate its response to the erosive wear by silica sand. Impact angles of 15° , 30° , 60° and 90° were tested, two particle speeds （37 and 58 m/s） and two LSP irradiation conditions were used. Erosion marks were characterized by 3D profilometry and SEM analysis was conducted to identify the erosion mechanisms for each tested angle. The results showed a maximum erosive wear at low impact angles （ductile type behavior）. Erosion strength and the erosion mechanisms were not affected by the application of LSP and they were attributed to the high strain rate of the erosion phenomena. A few differences encountered on the erosion plots were explained on the basis of the surface roughness left by the LSP process. The maximum mass loss and the maximum erosion penetration happened in different impact angles （15° and 30° , respectively）. Finally, a well-defined erosion mechanism transition was observed, from cutting action at low impact angle, to crater formation at 90° of incidence.

A ternary Ni2FeSb shape memory alloy was fabricated by powder metallurgy route. Sintering kinetics was estimated from dilatometry tests; whereas the microstructure and morphology of the powder and consolidated bulk samples were evaluated by XRD and SEM, respectively. Microhardness tests were performed on the surface of sintered samples. The results indicated that milling time has an effect on the shape and particle size as well as the homogeneity of the crystalline structures of the powders. Samples with longer milling time presented higher relative densities, better distribution of the elements on the alloy as well as the L21 and martensite phases, which will give the shape memory effect. The estimated activation energy values ranged from 109 to 282 kJ/mol at temperatures between 750 and 1273 K, indicating that sintering is controlled mainly by volume diffusion. Microhardness was improved by increasing the milling time and the heating rate.

Although many causes of Alzheimer’s disease(AD)may exist,both the original amyloid cascade and tau hypotheses posit that abnormal misfolding and accumulation of amyloid-β(Aβ)and tau protein is the central event causing the ***,that conclusion could be only partly true,and there is conflicting evidence about the role of both proteins in AD,being able to precede and influence one *** researchers argue that these proteins are mere executors rather than primary causes of ***,there have been continuing refinements of both hypotheses,with alternative explanations proposed.Aβand tau proteins may be independently involved in specific neurotoxic pathways;yet there may be other crucial processes going on in early ***,accumulating evidence suggests that Aβand tau act synergistically,rather than additively in disease onset(Jeremic et al.,2021,2023a).

origin of light emission and enhanced Eu^(3+) photoluminescence in tin-containing glass

A barium-phosphate glass matrix was co-doped with Sn o and Eu2o3 for investigating on material luminescent properties. optical absorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） were employed in the characterization of tin species. The prevalence of divalent tin was indicated by the XPS data in accord with a conspicuous absorption band detected around 285 nm ascribed to twofold-coordinated Sn centers（isoelectronic with Sn^2＋）. Photoluminescence（PL） excitation spectra obtained by monitoring Eu^3＋ emission from the 5D0 state revealed a broad excitation band from about 250 to 340 nm, characteristic of donor/acceptor energy transfer. Under excitation of such at 290 nm, the co-doped material exhibited a bright whitish luminescence, and a four-fold enhanced Eu3＋ emission relative to a purely Eu-doped reference. Time-resolved PL spectra recorded under the excitation at 290 nm exposed a broad band characteristic of the twofold-coordinated Sn centers and emission bands of Eu^3＋ ions, which appeared well separated in time in accord with their emission decay dynamics. The data suggested that light absorption took place at the Sn centers（donors） followed by energy transfer to Eu^3＋ ions（acceptors） which resulted in populating the 5D0 emitting state. Energy transfer pathways likely resulting in the enhanced Eu3＋ photoluminescence and the consequential light emission were discussed.

Effect of rhenium on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of Fe–2.25Cr–1.6W–0.25V-0.1C bainitic steels

A new ferritic creep resistant steel has been developed by eliminating Nb and adding 1.5 mass % Re to a ferritic steel grade T/P23 with the aim of enhancing its mechanical properties at high *** ingots of both steels, new grade and ASTM T/P 23, were hot rolled at 900℃ and then submitted to a thermal treatment consisting of solubilization at 1050℃ and tempering at 700℃. Tempered bainitic microstructures obtained contain second phases reinforcing carbide particles, mainly M_6C and M_（23）C_6 at the boundaries of both, prior austenite grains and bainitic ferrite laths, as well as MC within the grains. Mechanical properties at temperatures ranging from 540 to 600℃ were studied by strain-ratechange tests in compression at strain rates between 10^（-7） and 10^（-4）s^（-1）. These tests showed high stress exponents（n ≥ 20） and activation energies（Q ≈ 400 k J/mol） for both alloys, which were associated with a dislocation movement mechanism with a strong interaction between dislocations and precipitates. on the other hand, a creep exponent of 5 was derived for the stress dependence of minimum creep rate from conventional-type creep tests at 600℃. Although this stress exponent is usually related to a dislocation climb controlled creep mechanism, remarkable microstructural degradation observed with increasing creep time makes difficult to elucidate the true deformation mechanism controlling creep.
