Influence of the Molecular Weight on PVA/Go Composite Membranes for Fuel Cell Applications

Composite polymer electrolyte membranes were prepared with poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA).Two different molecular weight(Mw),67·103 and 130·103 g·mol−1 were selected,cross-linked with sulfosuccinic acid(SSA)and doped graphene oxide(Go).The effects on the membranes obtained from these polymers were characterized in order to evaluate the fuel cell *** microscopy showed a proper nanoparticle distribution in the polymer *** chemical structure was evaluated by Fourier transform infrared *** absence of a crystalline structure and the enhancement on the thermal stability with the addition of 1%of Go was demonstrated by thermal *** transference number and protonic conductivity were correlated to the performance of a hydrogen fuel ***,a power increase in the composite membranes with lower molecular weight was *** polymer chains may improve protonic conductivity and consequently the fuel cell performance.

Crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)based composite films were prepared as polyelectrolyte membranes for low temperature direct ethanol fuel cells(DEFC).The membranes were functionalised by means of the addition of graphene oxide(Go)and sulfonated graphene oxide(SGo)and crosslinked with sulfosuccinic acid(SSA).The chemical structure was corroborated and suitable thermal properties were *** the addition of Go and SGo slightly decreased the proton conductivity of the membranes,a significant reduction of the ethanol solution swelling and crossover was encountered,more relevant for those functionalised with *** general,the composite membranes were stable under simulated service *** addition of Go and SGo particles permitted to buffer the loss and almost retain similar proton conductivity than prior to *** membranes are alternative polyelectrolytes,which overcome current concerns of actual commercial membranes such as the high cost or the crossover phenomenon.

In recent years,graphene field-effect-transistors(GFETs)have demonstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(THz)photodetection due to their fast response and *** features are essential to enable emerging THz applications,including 6G wireless communications,quantum information,bioimaging and ***,the overall performance of these photodetectors may be utterly compromised by the impact of internal resistances presented in the device,so-called access or parasitic *** this work,we provide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the photoresponse of high-mobility dual-gate GFET *** dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)the internal resistance of the device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an improved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of the photodetector,*** results can be well understood by a series resistance model,as shown by the excellent agreement found between the experimental data and theoretical *** findings are therefore relevant to understand and improve the overall performance of existing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a high mortality neoplasm which usually appears on a cirrhotic *** therapeutic arsenal and subsequent prognostic outlook are intrinsically linked to the HCC stage at *** the current deployment of treatments with curative intent(liver resection/local ablation and liver transplantation)in early and intermediate stages,a high rate of HCC recurrence persists,underscoring a pivotal clinical *** systemic therapies(ST),particularly immunotherapy,have demonstrate promising outcomes in terms of increase overall survival,but they are currently bound to the advanced stage of *** review provides a comprehensive analysis of the literature,encompassing studies up to March 10,2024,evaluating the impact of novel ST in the early and intermediate HCC stages,specially focusing on the findings of neoadjuvant and adjuvant regimens,aimed at increasing significantly overall survival and recurrence-free survival after a treatment with curative *** also investigate the potential role of ST in enhancing the downstaging rate for the intermediate-stage HCC initially deemed ineligible for treatment with curative ***,we critically discuss about the current relevance of the results of these studies and the encouraging future implications of ST in the treatment schedules of early and intermediate HCC stages.

In this study,we calculated the inclusive charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering from ^(40)Ar in the quasielastic *** explore the effect of uncertainties stemming from the nuclear structure,we used the KIDS(Korea-IBS-Daegu-SKKU)nuclear energy density functional and Skyrme force models,namely SLy4,SkI3,and *** models were selected to have distinct behavior in terms of the density dependence of the symmetry energy and the effective mass of the *** the charged-current neutrino scattering,the single-and double-differential cross sections were calculated for various *** cross sections are reported as a function of the incident neutrino *** theoretical cross sections were compared with experimental data,and the roles of the effective mass and symmetry energy were investigated in terms of charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering.

Plants are aerobic organisms that rely on molecular oxygen for respiratory energy *** conditions,with oxygen levels ranging between 1%and 5%,usually limit aerobic respiration and affect plant growth and ***,we demonstrate that the hypoxic microenvironment induced by active cell proliferation during the two-step plant regeneration process intrinsically represses the regener-ation competence of the callus in Arabidopsis *** showed that hypoxia-repressed plant regener-ation is mediated by the RELATED To APETALA2.12(RAP2.12)protein,a memberof the Ethylene Response Factor VIl(ERF-Vll)*** found that the hypoxia-activated RAP2.12 protein promotes salicylic acid(SA)biosynthesis and defense responses,thereby inhibiting pluripotency acquisition and de novo shoot regeneration in *** and genetic analyses revealed that RAP2.12 could bind directly to the SALICYLIC ACID INDUCTIoN DEFICIENT 2(SID2)gene promoter and activate SA biosynthesis,repressing plant regeneration possibly via a PLETHoRA(PLT)-dependent ***,the rap2.12 mutant calli exhibits enhanced shoot regeneration,which is impaired by SA *** together,these find-ings uncover that the cell proliferation-dependent hypoxic microenvironment reduces cellular pluripotency and plant regeneration through the RAP2.12-SID2 module.

Background Proteome characterization of the porcine endometrium and extraembryonic membranes is important to understand mother-embryo *** this study,the proteome of the endometrium and cho-rioallantoic membrane was characterized in pregnant sows(PS)during early gestation(d 18 and 24 of gestation)and in the endometrium of non-pregnant sows(NPS)during the same days using LC-MS/MS *** UniProtKB database and ClueGo were used to obtain functional Gene ontology annotations and biological and functional networks,*** our analysis yielded 3,254 and 3,457 proteins identified in the endometrium of PS and NPS,respectively;of these,1,753 being common while 1,501 and 1,704 were exclusive to PS and NPS,*** addition,we iden-tified 3,968 proteins in the extraembryonic membranes of *** analyses of function revealed some proteins had relevance for the immune system process and biological adhesion in endometrium while the embryonic chorion displayed abundance of proteins related to cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization,suggesting they dominated the moment of endometrial remodeling,implantation and adhesion of the lining *** are available via Pro-teomeXchange with identifier *** This is the first in-depth proteomic characterization of the endometrium and extraembryonic mem-branes during weeks 3 to 4 of gestation;data that contribute to the molecular understanding of the dynamic environ-ment during this critical period,associated with the majority of pregnancy losses.
