Numerical Modelling of Non-similar Mixed Convection Heat and Species Transfer along an Inclined Solar Energy Collector Surface with Cross Diffusion Effects

An analysis is performed to study thermo-diffusion and diffusion-thermo effects on mixed convection heat and mass transfer boundary layer flow along an inclined (solar collector) plate. The resulting governing equations are transformed and then solved numerically using the local nonsimilarity method and Runge-Kutta shooting quadrature. A parametric study illustrating the influence of thermal buoyancy parameter (ζ), Prandtl number (Pr), Schmidt number (Sc), Soret number (Sr), Dufour number (Du) and concentration-to- thermal-buoyancy ratio parameter, N, on the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration profiles as well as on local skin-friction, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers is conducted. For positive inclination angle of the plate (γ = 70 degrees), flow velocity (f') is strongly increased i.e. accelerated, with thermal buoyancy force parameter (ζ), in particular closer to the plate surface;further into the boundary layer, ζ has a much reduced effect. Conversely temperature (θ) and concentration (ψ) is decreased with increasing thermal buoyancy parameter, ζ. For negative plate inclination, the flow is accelerated whereas for positive inclination it is decelerated i.e. velocity is reduced. Conversely with negative plate inclination both the temperature and concentration in the boundary layer is reduced with the opposite apparent for positive inclination. Increasing Prandtl number strongly reduces temperature in the regime whereas an increase in Schmidt number boosts temperatures with temperature overshoots near the plate surface for Sc = 3 and 5 (i.e. for Sc > 1). Concentration is reduced continuously throughout the boundary layer, however, with increasing Schmidt number. A positive increase in concentration-to-thermal-buoyancy ratio parameter, N, significantly accelerates the flow in the domain, whereas negative N causes a deceleration. A similarity solution for the steady hydromagnetic convective heat and mass transfer with slip flow from a spinning disk with viscous dissipation and ohmic heating yields a system of non-linear, coupled, ordinary differential equations. These equations are analytically solved by applying a newly developed method namely the DTM-Padé technique which is a combination of the Differential Transform Method (DTM) and the Padé approximation. A full analytical solution is presented, as a benchmark for alternative numerical solutions. DTM-Padé is implemented without requiring linearization, discretization, or perturbation, and holds significant potential for solving strongly nonlinear differential equations which arise frequently in fluid dynamics. The regime studied is shown to be controlled by the slip parameter (γ), magnetohydrodynamic body force parameter (M), Eckert (viscous heating) number (Ec), Schmidt number (Sc), Soret number (Sr), Dufour number (Du) and Prandtl number (Pr). The influence of selected parameters on the evolution of dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration distributions is studied graphically. Increasing magnetic field (M) is found to significantly inhibit the radial (f) and tangential (g) velocities, but to accentuate the axial velocity field (h);furthermore temperature (θ) and concentration (φ) are both enhanced with increasing M. Increasing Soret number (Sr) acts to boost the dimensionless concentration (φ). Temperatures are significantly elevated in the boundary layer regime with a rise in Eckert number (Ec). Excellent correlation between the DTM-Padé technique and numerical (shooting) solutions is achieved. The model has important applications in industrial energy systems, process mechanical engineering, electromagnetic materials processing and electro-conductive chemical transport processes.

AIM To investigate the prospective importance of serum micro(mi)RNAs(mi R-125 b, mi R-138 b, mi R-1269, mi R-214-5p, mi R-494, mi R375 and mi R-145) as early biomarkers for the diagnosis of hepatitis C virus(HCV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHoDS Two-hundred and fifty HCV4 a patients, 224 HCV4 aHCC patients, and 84 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. Expression levels of mi R214-5p, mi R-125 b, mi R-1269 and mi R-375 were quantified using quantitative real-time *** Expression of the selected mi RNAs in serum wassignificantly lower in HCC patients than in the healthy controls, except for mi R-1269 and mi R-494. There was a significant difference between HCC and HCV patients, in particular for HCC and late stage fibrosis, rather than HCV patients and early fibrosis. It is obvious that mi R-1269 was significantly upregulated in HCC cases compared to hepatic fibrosis cases. Each mi RNA can show HCC progression. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that the tested panel of mi RNAs(mi R214-5p, mi R-125 b, mi R-1269 and mi R-375) represent accurate and specific indictors of HCC *** This study presents a panel of mi RNAs with strong power as putative diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for HCV-induced HCC. Moreover, mi R-214-5p and mi R-1269 could be considered as early biomarkers for tracking the progress of liver fibrosis to HCC.

Measurements of density(ρ), viscosity(η), and refractive index(n), were carried out on α-amino acids, DL-alanine (Ala), D-phenylalanine (Phe), and DL-threonine (Thr) (0.01-0.05 mol·L-1), in 0.05 mol·L-1 aqueous caffeine solution at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K. These measurements have been carried out to evaluate some important parameters, viz., apparent molar volume (фυ), partial molar volume (фυ0v), transfer volume (фυ0v(tr)), viscosity A and b coefficients of Jones-Dole equation, free energies of activation per mole of solvent (Δμ0#1) and solute (Δμ0#2), enthalpies (ΔH) and entropies (ΔS) of activation of viscous flow, variation of b with temperature (αb/αT)P, and molar refractive index (RD). These parameters have been interpreted in terms of solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions and structure making/breaking ability of solutes in the given solution.

DFT Cancer Energy barrier and Spectral Studies of Aspirin, Paracetamol and Some Analogues

Comparative DFT computations were studied between Paracetamol (PA) and its analogues such as p-nitroace- tanilide (PA-No2), p-bromoacetanilide (PA-br) and N-acetylanthranilic acid (NAA) which can be considered also as analogue of Aspirin (ASP). As well, Thio-Aspirin, Acetyl-Thio-Salicylic acid, (TASP) is another analogue of ASP. From DFT studies, it has been concluded that PA and its analogues have the predominant trans-conformers with respect to directions of the carbonyl group in the acetyl moiety and the amino-hydrogen atom but the predominant conformer of NAA molecule is the cis-form. Phenacetin (PH) molecule which has ethoxy group in the Para-position instead of the hydroxyl group in the Para-position in PA molecule is another analogue of PA. The electron transfer energy between the drugs and the nucleic acid bases can be illustrated as cancer energy barrier. The cancer energy barriers were calculated from the DFT parameters for all the studied molecules showing the carcinogenic effect. The metabolized product N-acetylimidoquinone, m-PA, is produced in the liver from PA and PH. m-PA has higher electron affinity more than those of the nucleic acid bases indicating to the strong electronic withdrawing power from the nucleus in the human being liver cell, hence m-PA is responsible for the carcinogenic behavior of the liver cell since it has low energy barrier with guanine, 0.3 eV. Therefore the electron transfer between m-PA and guanine takes place spontaneously in the liver. From CI calculations it has been concluded that the singlet transition energies for the trans and cis conformers of PA are the same. The comparative spectral studies have been scanned for some analogues in the visible and UV regions using solvents of different polarities. The complex between PA and Zn2+ was studied by DFT method.
