The co.po.nd o. dimethyl trans-3-（2-bro.o.henyl）-2-methyliso.azo.idine-4,5-dicarbo.ylate has been synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 2D-NMR （Co.Y, No.SY, HMQC, HMbC） and UV-vis. spectro.co.y techniques and single-crystal X-ray diffractio. （XRD）. The bio.o.ical activities o. the title co.po.nd have been investigated in detail. The new co.po.nd crystallizes in mo.o.linic, space gro.p C2/c with a = 26.9263（10）, b = 7.0970（2）, c = 19.8554（7）？, and β = 126.630（2）. In additio. to.the single crystal structure, the mo.ecular geo.etry, vibratio.al frequencies, chemical shifts, mo.ecular electro.tatic po.ential and fro.tier mo.ecular o.bital analysis o. the title co.po.nd in the gro.nd state have been calculated by Density Functio.al Theo.y （DFT） metho..

AIM： To.examine the anti-ulcero.enic and antio.idant effects o. aqueo.s extracts o. Fo.niculum vu/gare （FVE） o. ethano.-induced gastric lesio.s in rats.METHo.S： FVE was administered by gavage at do.es o. 75, i50 and 300 mg/kg, and famo.idine was used at the do.e o.20mg/*** a 60 min perio., all the rats were given 1 mL o. ethano. （80%） by gavage. o.e ho.r after the administratio. o. ethano., all gro.ps were sacrificed, and the gastric ulcer index was calculated; who.e blo.d malo.dialdehyde （MDA） and reduced glutathio.e （GSH）, serum nitrate, nitrite, asco.bic acid, retino. and β-caro.ene levels were measured in all the gro.ps.RESULTS： It was fo.nd that pretreatment with FVE significantly reduced ethano.-induced gastric damage. This effect o. FVE was highest and statistically significant in 300 mg/kg gro.p co.pared with the co.tro. （4.18 ± 2.81 vs 13.15 ± 4.08, P 〈 0.001）. Also. pretreatment with FVE significantly reduced the MDA levels, while significantly increased GSH, nitrite, nitrate, asco.bic acid, retino. and β-caro.ene levels. Co.CLUSIo.： FVE has clearly a pro.ective effect against ethano.-induced gastric muco.al lesio., and this effect, at least in part, depends upo. the reductio. in lipid pero.idatio. and augmentatio. in the antio.idant activity.

The textural mechanical pro.erties o. In this study uranium and tho.ium co.tents and depo.itio.al characteristics o. ay rhan bitumino.s shales（ bS）, west o. Ankara（central Anato.ia）, are investigated. Samples used were co.lected fro. bo.eho.es o.ened by Park Ho.ding Ltd. A to.al o. 25 samples were taken fro. bitumino.s shale levels in bo.eho.es drilled at 6 different lo.atio.s in the study area. The H rka fo.matio. which ho.ts bitumino.s shale depo.its is a vo.cano.edimentary sequence and all litho.acies indicate that a lacustrine enviro.ment where the water level was co.tinuo.sly changed. In additio. to.hydro.arbo. generatio. po.ential, bitumino.s shales also.accumulate significant amo.nt o. radio.ctive elements such as uranium and tho.ium. The average uranium and tho.ium co.centratio.s o. bS（1.83/2.62 ppm） are much lo.er than averages o. UC, NASK and PAAS（uranium： 2.70/2.66/3.10 ppm; tho.ium： 8.50/12.30/14.60 ppm）. Lo. uranium co.tents in co.pariso. to.tho.e o. similar lacustrine enviro.ments might be attributed to.that waters o. depo.itio.al enviro.ment o. bS co.tain lo. co.centratio. o. disso.ved uranium and redo. co.ditio.s were o. o.ic and dio.ic character. Co.relatio. data indicate that U and Th have a similar so.rce and are asso.iated predo.inantly with clays and pho.phates and do.inantly with o.ganic material. Radio.ctive elements in the basin might be derived fro. Paleo.o.c granites and metamo.phites（e.g. gneiss, schist） which co.prise the basement and vo.canism which was active in the regio. thro.gho.t the Mio.ene perio.. These elements are pro.ably asso.iated with uranifero.s pho.phate minerals（e.g. autunite, to.bernite） which o.cur in granite, gneiss and schist. bS with average To. co.tent o. 10.96 % sho.s very go.d/perfect so.rce ro.k po.ential. Po.itive co.relatio.s between Gamma-Ray values and U, Th and K co.centratio.s imply that radio.ctivity might be o.iginated fro. these three elements.

AIM: To.investigate the frequency o. o.cult hepatitis b, the clinical co.rse o. hepatitis b virus (HbV) reactivatio. and reverse sero.o.versio. and asso.iated risk facto.s in auto.o.o.s hemato.o.etic stem cell transplantatio. (HSCT) recipients. METHo.S: This study was co.ducted in 90 patients undergo.ng auto.o.o.s HSCT. o.cult HbV infectio. was investigated by HbV-DNA analysis prio. to.transplantatio., while HbV sero.o.y and liver functio. tests were screened prio. to.and serially after transplantatio.. HbV-related events including reverse sero.o.versio. and reactivatio. were reco.ded in all patients. RESULTS: No.e o. the patients had o.cult HbV prio. to.transplantatio.. Six (6.7%) patients were po.itivefo. HbV surface antigen (HbsAg) prio. to.transplantatio. and received lamivudine pro.hylaxis; they did no. develo. HbV reactivatio. after transplantatio.. Clinical HbV infectio. emerged in three patients after transplantatio. who.had negative HbV-DNA prio. to.HSCT. Two.o. these three patients had HbV reactivatio. while o.e patient develo.ed acute hepatitis b. Three patients had anti-Hbc as the so.e hepatitis b-related antibo.y prio. to.transplantatio., two.o. who. develo.ed hepatitis b reactivatio. while no.e o. the patients with antibo.y to.HbV surface antigen (anti-Hbs) did so. The 14 anti-Hbs-and/o. anti-Hbc-po.itive patients amo.g the 90 HSCT recipients experienced either persistent (8 patients) o. transient (6 patients) disappearance o. anti-Hbs and/o. anti-Hbc. HbsAg sero.o.versio. and clinical hepatitis did no. develo. in these patients.
