This study assesses the chemical quality o. water reso.rces in the Lo.er Senegal River valley, based o. 35 samples co.lected in No.ember 2022. Majo. io. co.centratio.s in surface water and gro.ndwater were analyzed using classical geo.hemical interpretatio. diagrams (Piper, GIBBS, etc.) and multivariate geo.tatistical analyses, including hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal co.po.ent analysis (PCA). The results revealed three types o. facies: Ca-Mg-HCo.-type facies, characteristic o. po.rly mineralized waters such as surface waters and gro.ndwater fro. dune fo.matio.s and the alluvial plain clo.e to.the hydraulic axis;Na-Cl type facies asso.iated with well waters lo.ated in the alluvial plain that tap Inchirian o. No.akcho.tian shallo. reservo.rs and Maastrichtian deep bo.eho.e waters;and mixed Ca-Cl and Na-HCo. type facies o.served in certain flo.dplain and dune reservo.rs. The results sho.ed a stro.g co.relatio. between so.ium, chlo.ides, bro.ides, and electrical co.ductivity, indicating a significant co.tributio. o. these io.s to.gro.ndwater mineralizatio.. The vario.s so.rces o. water mineralizatio. include mixing pro.esses between surface water o. rainwater, o. calcite o. do.o.ite disso.utio. pro.esses (fo. weakly mineralized waters), basic exchanges o. inverse basic exchanges between the aquifer and the water table (fo. mo.erately mineralized waters), and evapo.atio. pro.esses, halite disso.utio., and paleo.alinity during perio.s o. marine transgressio. and regressio. (fo. highly mineralized waters). The study also.highlighted the high vulnerability o. the alluvial aquifer to.po.lutio. fro. intensive irrigated agriculture, as significant quantities o. sulfates and nitrates were measured in so.e samples. These results also.highlight the impo.tance o. water quality management in the Lo.er Senegal Valley, particularly as co.cerns the pro.ectio. o. the alluvial aquifer against po.lutio. fro. irrigated agriculture.

The Faleme River, a West Africa lo.g transbo.ndary stream (625 km) and abundant flo. (>1100 millio. m3) is affected by severe ero.io. because o. mining activities that takes place thro.gho.t the riverbed. To.preserve this impo.tant waterco.rse and ensure the sustainability o. its services, selecting and implementing appro.riates resto.atio.s techniques is vital. In this co.text, the purpo.e o. this paper was to.present an o.erview o. the actio.s and techniques that can be implemented fo. the resto.atio./rehabilitatio. o. the Faleme. The metho.o.o.ical appro.ch includes field investigatio., water sampling, literature review with cases studies and SWo. analysis o. the fo.r metho.s presented: river dredging, co.structed wetlands, flo.ting treatment wetlands and chemical precipitatio. (co.gulatio. and flo.culatio.). The study co.firmed the po.lutio. o. the river by suspended so.ids (TSS > 1100 mg/L) and heavy metals such as iro., zinc, aluminium, and arsenic. Fo. the resto.atio. metho.s, it was illustrated thro.gh descriptio. o. their mo.e o. o.eratio. and thro.gh so.e case studies presented, that all the fo.r metho.s have pro.en their effectiveness in treating rivers but have differences in their co.ts, their sustainability (detrimental to.living o.ganisms o. causing a seco.d po.lutio.) and so.ial acceptance. They also.have weaknesses and issues that must be addressed to.ensure success o. rehabilitatio.. Fo. the case o. the Faleme river, after analysis, flo.ting treatment wetlands are highly reco.mended fo. their lo. co.t, go.d remo.al efficiency if the vulnerability o. the raft and buo.ancy to.stro.g waves and flo. is under co.tro..

Acute Upper Digestive Bleedings in Ho.pital in Bamako

The main o.jective o. this wo.k was to.update the data o. the epidemio.o.ical, clinical, etio.o.ical and pro.no.tic aspects o. these acute upper digestive hemo.rhages. It was a pro.pective study fo. a perio. o. 11 mo.ths (fro. March 2013 to.January 2014) at the digestive endo.co.y center o. Gabriel To.ré University Ho.pital in Bamako. At the end o. this study, 63 patients had acute upper digestive bleeding (AUDB) amo.g 954 ho.pitalized patients, that is to.say a frequency o. 6.7%. The sex ratio.was 3.5. The average age o. o.r patients was 45 ± 16.57 years with extremes o. 15 and 84 years. A no.io. o. smo.ing, epigastralgia and no.e stero.d anti-inflammato.y drugs (NSAIDs) were mo.e repo.ted in the histo.y with respectively 14 patients (22.3%), 10 patients (15.9%) and 4 patients (6.3%), but haematemesis had o.curred in 24 (38.1%) patients witho.t any antecedent. The main causes o. hemo.rhage were rupture o. o.so.hageal varices in 34 (57.6%) patients and peptic ulcers in 18 (30.5%) patients. Early recurrence o.curred in 7 (11.1%) patients resulting in the death o. 5 patients fo. an o.erall mo.tality o. 9 patients amo.g 63 (14.3%). Acute high digestive hemo.rhages are always serio.s. The co.rect management o. the hemo.rhagic episo.e by haemo.tatic gestures when available and the causes o. haemo.rhage impro.e the pro.no.is.

Infectio. with the defective hepatitis D virus (HDV) co.infects o. superinfects a patient carrying hepatitis B virus (HBV). Delta virus infectio. is relatively co.mo.. The serio.sness o. infectio. with the hepatitis D virus (HDV), a virus defective in a patient carrying the hepatitis B virus (HBV), lies in its aggravating effect o. the asso.iated viral hepatitis B. o.r aim was to.study the sero.o.ical pro.ile o. HDV in HBsAg-po.itive patients. As this study was fragmentary, we initiated this study with the aim o. investigating the sero.o.ical pro.ile o. HDV in HBsAg-po.itive patients. This was a descriptive and analytical cro.s-sectio.al study that ran fro. March 2019 to.February 2020, a 12-mo.th perio.. It fo.used o. the po.ulatio. o. patients seen and screened po.itive fo. HBsAg. We o.tained a frequency o. 10%. The mean age o. o.r patients was 41.8 ± 13.09 years. The sex ratio.was 4.5. VHD RNA was detected in 50% o. patients. In 100% o. cases, the presence o. VHD RNA was asso.iated with advanced fibro.is acco.ding to.the APRI sco.e, but witho.t any statistically significant link. All HBV-infected patients sho.ld be screened fo. anti-HDV Ac. HDV infectio. leads to.rapid pro.ressio. to.co.plicatio.s o. liver disease.

Chro.ic hepatitis B causes a liver disease characterized by inflammatio. o. the liver parenchyma. The aim o. this study was to.investigate the evo.utio. o. bio.o.ical parameters in patients treated with Teno.o.ir fo. chro.ic B infectio. at the Co.mune V referral health center in Bamako. We o.tained a prevalence o. 14.15%. The mo.t represented age gro.p was 31 - 40 years, with 36.8%. The sex ratio.was 1.44 in favo.r o. men. Viral lo.d was undetectable after 18 mo.ths o. treatment in 25 patients (42.37%). Teno.o.ir, the 1st-line drug in Mali, is effective o. the bio.o.ical parameters mo.ito.ed in patients.

Anal patho.o.ies are co.ditio.s affecting the anal margin and the anal canal. The aim o. o.r study was to.update data o. anal diseases. No.-specific, it can reveal an emergency, a serio.s illness, a chro.ic disease o. a benign co.ditio.. It was a pro.pective, descriptive and analytical study fro. April 2022 to.March 2023, carried o.t in the hepato.gastro.ntero.o.y unit o. the Centre de Santé de Référence de la co.mune V du District de Bamako.in Mali. o.t o. seven hundred and fo.ty-nine (749) patients seen in co.sultatio., 98 had anal patho.o.y, i.e. a prevalence o. 13.08%. The mean age was 40 ± 15.15 years and the sex ratio.was 1.5. Hemo.rho.dal disease and anal fissure were the mo.t frequent patho.o.ies in 66.4% and 24.4% o. cases respectively. Medical treatment was initiated in 91.9% o. patients with hemo.rho.dal disease and 91.7% with anal fissure. Anal patho.o.ies are co.mo. in yo.ng male patients. In o.r co.text, they are do.inated by benign co.ditio.s.
