Backgro.nd: The rising caesarean sectio. rate wo.ldwide is an increasing so.rce o. co.cern to.all. A significant co.tributo. to.this is a previo.s caesarean delivery. o.e strategy in the armamentarium o. o.stetricians fo. reducing this is vaginal birth after o.e caesarean sectio. (VBAC). The safety, o.tco.e and co.plicatio.s o. this pro.edure in o.r Center which is in a develo.ing co.ntry had never been studied hence the need fo. this wo.k. Aim: To.find o.t the o.tco.e and co.plicatio.s o. vaginal births after o.e caesarean delivery in o.r Center. Metho.: A retro.pective study invo.ving a ten-year review o. all cases o. trials o. labo.r after o.e caesarean delivery in o.r Center was do.e. Result: o. the 305 trials o. labo.r after o.e caesarean delivery, 221 wo.en had vaginal birth giving a vaginal birth after o.e caesarean sectio. rate o. 72.5%. Majo.ity o. the babies 303 (99.2%) were alive and had go.d Apgar sco.es while 2 (0.7%) died giving a perinatal mo.tality rate o. 7 per 1000 babies. There were co.plicatio.s in 21 (6.7%) o. the wo.en with retained placenta, in 7 (2.3%) o. the wo.en as the co.mo.est, fo.lo.ed by po.tpartum haemo.rhage in 6 (1.96%). Five (1.62%) wo.en had scar dehiscence while 3 (0.98%) had uterine rupture. Co.clusio.: Vaginal birth after o.e caesarean sectio. is safe in well selected cases even in o.r reso.rce po.r settings. It o.fers o.r wo.en a culturally-acceptable o.tio. o. fulfilling lo.g-held dreams o. vaginal delivery even after o.e caesarean sectio. and sho.ld be o.fered to.o.r wo.en whenever po.sible.
