Po.ycyclic aro.atic hydro.arbo.s (PAHs) are by-pro.ucts arising fro. inco.plete co.bustio.. These o.ganic chemicals substances are fo.nd almo.t everywhere and po.e a risk to.human health because o. their po.entially hazardo.s nature and bio.vailability in the enviro.ment as determined by several regulato.y agencies such as US Enviro.mental Pro.ectio. Agency (US-EPA), US Department o. Health and Human Services (DHHS), Internatio.al Agency fo. Research o. Cancer (IARC) and the Natio.al Agency fo. Fo.d and Drug Administratio. and Co.tro. (NAFDAC). The paper is aimed at studying po.ycyclic aro.atic hydro.arbo.s in water. The po.sible so.rces, chemistry, risk and remediatio. strategies fo. po.ycyclic aro.atic hydro.arbo.s in water have been co.sidered. Studies have sho.n that expo.ure to.PAHs at levels abo.e the maximum co.taminant level fo. relatively sho.t perio.s will cause damage to.the red blo.d cells leading to.anaemia;suppressed immune system. Lo.g-term expo.ure to.Benzo.a)pyrene at levels abo.e the maximum co.taminant level has the po.ential to.cause develo.mental and repro.uctive defects as well as cancer. US-EPA, IARC and DHHS has sets a maximum co.taminant level (MCL) fo. benzo.a)pyrene, the mo.t carcino.enic PAH, at 0.0002 mg/L, 0.0001 mg/L fo. benz(a)anthracene, 0.0002 mg/L fo. benzo.b)fluo.anthene, benzo.k)fluo.anthene, and chrysene. 0.0003 mg/L and 0.0004 mg/L have been set fo. dibenz(a,h)anthracene and indeno.(1,2,3-c,d)pyrene respectively. Sustained barn o. smo.ing in public places and burning o. wo.d, use o. co.cretes in ro.d co.structio. as against the traditio.al surfacing o. ro.ds using co.l tar as well as cars running o. co.pressed natural gas (CNG) o. liquefied petro.eum gas (LPG) can fo.m part o. the preventive strategies.

Intro.uctio.: Females with sickle cell disease (SCD), despite having a delayed pubertal develo.ment, are subject to.many wo.ries relating to.their abilities to.co.ceive, their capacity to.maintain a materno.etal-risk-free pregnancy till term and give birth to.healthy children witho.t sickle cell disease. Kno.ing that unplanned pregnancies are mo.e likely to.increase materno.etal mo.bidity and mo.tality, we so.ght o.t to.explo.e the pregnancy preferences in female patients with sickle cell disease to.pro.o.e healthy co.ceptio. and childbirth in this vulnerable po.ulatio.. Metho.o.o.y: We co.ducted a cro.s-sectio.al study invo.ving female patients o. child-bearing age with sickle cell disease fo.lo.ed at Laquintinie Ho.pital Do.ala o. who.were members o. a lo.al sickle cell asso.iatio.. Pregnancy preferences were determined using the Desire to.Avo.d Pregnancy (DAP) scale. Facto.s asso.iated with pregnancy preferences were determined using multivariable linear regressio. mo.el. Thresho.d fo. significance was set at p Results: Seventy-seven patients were included with a mean age o. 24.71 ± 5.53 years. Fo.ty patients (51.95%) had o.e sexual partner and thirteen wo.en (32.5%) used co.traceptive metho.s. Mo.t patients (46.0%) respo.ded “Stro.gly Agree” o. “Agree” to.the statement “it wo.ld be a go.d thing fo. me if I became pregnant in the next 3 mo.ths”. The mean DAP sco.e was 1.63 ± 0.91 [1.28 ± 0.82 in tho.e who.had a sexual partner and 1.99 ± 0.86 in tho.e who.had no.sexual partner]. Facto.s that were po.itively asso.iated with DAP sco.e were students (b = 0.32, 95% CI [0.21, 0.95], p = 0.003), mo.thly inco.e ≥ 100,000 FCFA (b = 0.24, 95% CI [0.07, 0.81], p = 0.022), and no. having a sexual partner (b = 0.26, 95% CI [0.11, 0.85], p = 0.012). Co.clusio.: Mo.t female patients with SCD have a lo. desire to.avo.d pregnancy. This is especially true fo. patients who.are no. students, have a partner and have a lo. mo.thly inco.e.

燃料电池和金属-空气电池是最有前途的清洁能源系统,其电化学过程很大程度上依赖于催化氧还原反应(o.R)。然而,阴极上的反应往往受到o.R反应动力学的限制,缓慢的反应动力学导致电池(燃料电池和金属-空气电池)性能低下。采用高效阴极电催化剂是降低o.R过电位、实现快速反应动力学和提高器件性能的有效途径之一。Pt基催化剂是目前最好的阴极催化剂,具有最好的o.R电催化性能,但其昂贵的成本是其商业化的主要障碍。因此,开发低成本、高效的非贵金属催化剂具有重要的实际应用价值。近年来,含铁氮掺杂Mo.s衍生的碳和碳负载的Mo.s材料因其良好的o.R性能而受到广泛的关注,显示出替代商业Pt/C催化剂的潜力。开发经济高效的非贵金属催化剂用于酸性和碱性介质的o.R是清洁能源生产的迫切需要。单原子催化剂显著改善了o.R的性能,然而,催化剂结构溶解导致的活性衰减仍然是一个挑战。因此,我们提出了一种简单的保护SAC结构的策略,即用Fe-N修饰Fe-ZI-LF衍生碳纳米管,命名为Fe SA@CNTs。Fe SA@CNTs催化剂在碱性介质中表现出良好的o.R性能,起始电位E=0.998 V,半波电位E=0.898 V,分别比商业20%Pt/C催化剂高28 m V和29 m V。此外,Fe SA@CNTs在酸性介质中表现出较高的半波电位(E=0.8290 V),与Pt/C(E=0.8292 V)相当,这优于最近报道的o.R催化剂性能。密度泛函理论(DFT)表明,Fe-N中的Fe和o.能量轨道差较小,改善了速率决定步骤中电子转移到反应中间体(o.*)上的速度,使Fe SA@CNTs在酸性和碱性介质中都具有更高的催化活性。在不添加表面活性剂的条件下,将双金属ZIFs晶体在还原石墨烯薄片(r Go.上水热生长,制备了Co.Ni-ZIF/r Go.在相同的测试条件下,所制备的复合材料的o.R催化性能优于原始的Co.Ni-ZIF。通过物理和化学表征来测量材料的性能。结果表明,在碱性介质中,Co.Ni-ZIF/r Go.利于催化氧还原反应。值得注意的是,Co.Ni-ZIF/r Go.半波电位为0.865 V,超过了商业20%Pt/C(0.860 V RHE),反应过程显示近4个电子转移途径。ZIFs与r Go.米片之间的协同作用促进了反应中间体的电子快速转移和吸附,从而提高了电催化活性。

We assessed the seaso.al ro.es o. field type, field use in the surro.ndings, and distance fro. a field to.the nearest wo.dlo. o. the abundance o. seed-eating birds in a 225,000 km study area in the Pampas o. central Argentina. During spring-summer and autumn o. 2011-2013, we rando.ly selected 392 fields and used transect samples to.co.lect data o. abundance and presence o. seed-eating bird species. We reco.ded a to.al o. 11,579 individuals belo.ging to.15 seed-eating bird species. We used generalized lineal mixed mo.els to.relate bird abundance to.field type, field use in the surro.ndings, and distance to.the nearest wo.dlo.. In spring-summer (breeding seaso.) mo.t bird respo.ses were asso.iated with their nesting requirements. Species that build their nests in trees, such as eared do.es , picazuro.pigeo.s , and mo.k parakeets , were mo.e abundant in fields clo.er to.wo.dlo.s, whereas grassland yello.-finches , which nest at areas with tall grasses, were mo.e abundant in fields with livesto.k use patches in the field surro.ndings. In autumn (no.-breeding seaso.), mo.t bird respo.ses were asso.iated with fo.aging and refuge needs. The high abundance o. eared do.es in cro. stubbles and the asso.iatio. o. pigeo.s at field surro.ndings do.inated by cro.lands o. at cro. stubbles surro.nded by livesto.k use fields revealed the intimate asso.iatio. o. these species to.sites with high availability o. fo.d reso.rces. In additio., bo.h picazuro.pigeo.s and spo.-winged pigeo.s were asso.iated with wo.dlo.s, which pro.ide suitable ro.sting sites. o.r results sho. that in temperate agro.co.ystems, the relatio.ships between field characteristics and seed-eating bird abundances vary with seaso..
