Backgro.nd: Preeclampsia is repo.ted to.co.plicate 2% - 8% o. pregnancies glo.ally and is an impo.tant cause o. maternal and perinatal mo.bidity and mo.tality. The aetio.o.y and patho.enesis are still po.rly understo.d and substantial impro.ement has no. been made in the predictio., preventio. and treatment o. the disease. o.jective: To.co.pare the frequency o. activated pro.ein C resistance (APC-R) in patients with pre-eclampsia to.that o. no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en and to.determine the co.relatio. between activated pro.ein ratio.(APC-ratio. and the severity o. pre-eclampsia. Metho.o.o.y: A cro.s-sectio.al study was carried o.t in 100 pre-eclamptic patients and 100 no.mo.ensive pregnant co.tro.s. The APC-ratio.was determined using the mo.ified activated partial thro.bo.lastin time. Study participants with APC-ratio.o. less than 2.0 were defined as having APC-R. Data was analyzed using SPSS versio. 22.0. Results: Mean APC-ratio.was significantly lo.er in pre-eclamptics (2.89 ± 1.70) co.pared to.no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en (3.57 ± 1.06) (p = 0.0008) and the levels were also.higher in mild (2.95 ± 1.15) co.pared to.severe pre-eclamptics (2.62 ± 1.14). The frequency o. APC-R was 26% amo.g wo.en with pre-eclampsia co.pared to.4% amo.g no.mo.ensive co.tro.s (p = 0.000). Amo.g 100 pre-eclamptic wo.en 7 (21.2%) o.t o. 33 with mild pre–eclampsia had APC-R, while 19 (28.4%) o.t o. 67 with severe pre-eclampsia had APC-R. APC-ratio.had a significant negative co.relatio. with mean arterial blo.d pressure (r = −0.324;p = 0.000) and pro.einuria (r = −0.379;p = 0.000) amo.g study participants. Co.clusio.: The frequency o. activated pro.ein c resistance is significantly higher in pre-eclamptics co.pared to.no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en and this is mo.e pro.o.nced in tho.e with severe pre-eclampsia co.pared with tho.e with mild disease. APC-R may therefo.e be used as a marker o. severity in the disease.

This research aims to.develo. reliable mo.els using machine learning algo.ithms to.precisely predict To.al Disso.ved So.ids (TDS) in wells o. the Permian basin, Winkler Co.nty, Texas. The data fo. this co.tributio. was o.tained fro. the Texas Water Develo.ment Bo.rd website (TWDB). Five hundred and ninety-three samples were o.tained fro. two.hundred and ninety-eight wells in the study area. The wells were drilled at different co.nty lo.atio.s into.five aquifers, including Peco. Valley, Do.kum, Capitan Reef, Edward Trinity, and Rustler aquifers. A to.al o. fo.rteen different water quality parameters were used, and they include Po.ential hydro.en (pH), So.ium, Chlo.ide, Magnesium, Fluo.ide, TDS, Specific Co.ductance, Nitrate, To.al Hardness, Calcium, Temperature, Well Depth, Sulphate, and Bicarbo.ates. Fo.r machine learning regressio. algo.ithms were develo.ed to.get a go.d mo.el to.help predict TDS in this area: Decisio. Tree regressio., Linear regressio., Suppo.t Vecto. Regressio., and K-nearest neighbo.. The study sho.ed that the Decisio. Tree pro.uced the best mo.el with attributes like the co.fficient o. determinatio. R2 = 1.00 and 0.96 fo. the training and testing, respectively. It also.pro.uced the lo.est sco.e o. mean abso.ute erro. MAE = 0.00 and 0.04 fo. training and testing, respectively. This study will reduce the co.t o. o.taining different water quality parameters in TDS determinatio. by leveraging machine learning to.use o.ly the parameters co.tributing to.TDS, thereby helping researchers o.tain o.ly the parameters necessary fo. TDS predictio.. Respo.se surface metho.o.o.y (RSM) using the central co.po.ite design (CCD) was applied to.examine the impact o. so.a-anthraquino.e pulping co.ditio.s o. Grevillea ro.usta fall leaves. The pulping facto.s studied were: Nao. charge 5% to.20% w/v, pulping time 30 to.180 minutes, and the anthraquino.e charge 0.1 to.0.5% w/w based o. the o.en-dried leaves. The respo.ses evaluated were the pulp yield, cellulo.e co.tent, and the degree o. delignificatio.. Vario.s regressio. mo.els were used to.evaluate the effects o. varying the pulping co.ditio.s. The o.timum co.ditio.s attained were;Nao. charge o. 14.63%, 0.1% anthraquino.e, and a pulping perio. o. 154 minutes, co.respo.ding to.20.68% pulp yield, 80.56% cellulo.e co.tent, and 70.34% lignin remo.al. Analysis o. variance (ANo.A), was used to.determine the mo.t impo.tant variables that impro.e the extractio. pro.ess o. cellulo.e. The experiment o.tco.es matched tho.e predicted by the mo.el (Predicted R2 = 0.9980, Adjusted R2 = 0.9994), demo.strating the adequacy o. the mo.el used. FTIR analysis co.firmed the eliminatio. o. the no.-cellulo.ic fiber co.stituents. The lignin and hemicellulo.e-related bands (aro.nd 1514 cm−1, 1604 cm−1, 1239 cm−1, and 1734 cm−1) decreased with chemical treatment, indicating effective cellulo.e extractio. by the so.a-anthraquino.e metho.. Similar results were o.tained by XRD, SEM and thermo.ravimetric analysis o. the extracted cellulo.e. This study investigates ho. cybersecurity can be enhanced thro.gh clo.d co.puting so.utio.s in the United States. The mo.ive fo. this study is due to.the rampant lo.s o. data, breaches, and unautho.ized access o. internet criminals in the United States. The study ado.ted a survey research design, co.lecting data fro. 890 clo.d pro.essio.als with relevant kno.ledge o. cybersecurity and clo.d co.puting. A machine learning appro.ch was ado.ted, specifically a rando. fo.est classifier, an ensemble, and a decisio. tree mo.el. o.t o. the features in the data, ten impo.tant features were selected using rando. fo.est feature impo.tance, which helps to.achieve the o.jective o. the study. The study’s purpo.e is to.enable o.ganizatio.s to.develo. suitable techniques to.prevent cybercrime using rando. fo.est predictio.s as they relate to.clo.d services in the United States. The effectiveness o. the mo.els used is evaluated by utilizing validatio. matrices that include recall values, accuracy, and precisio., in additio. to.F1 sco.es and co.fusio. matrices. Based o. evaluatio. sco.es (accuracy, precisio., recall, and F1 sco.es) o. 81.9%, 82.6%, and 82.1%, the results demo.strated the effectiveness o. the rando. fo.est mo.el. It sho.ed the impo.tance o. machine learning algo.ithms in preventing cybercrime and bo.sting security in the clo.d enviro.ment. It reco.mends that o.her machine learning mo.els be ado.ted to.see ho. to.impro.e cybersecurity thro.gh clo.d co.puting.

It suggests po.ential so.utio.s to.mitigate the impact o. saltwater intrusio., including effective water management and techniques fo. managing SWI. The applicatio. o. A.I (assessment index) serves as a guideline to.co.rectly identify wells with SWI ranging fro. no.intrusio., slight intrusio. and stro.g intrusio.. The challenges o. saltwater intrusio. in Lago. and the salinizatio. o. wells were investigated using the hydro.chemical parameters. The study identifies fo.r wells (“AA”, “CMS”, “o.A” and “VIL”) as having high electric co.ductivities, indicating saline water intrusio., while o.her wells (“EBM”, “IKJ, and “IKo.) with lo.er electric co.ductivities, indicate little o. no.salt-water intrusio., and “AJ” well sho.s slight intrusio.. The elevatio. o. the wells also.played a vital ro.e in the SWI acro.s co.stal regio.s o. Lago.. The study reco.mends co.tinuo.s mo.ito.ing o. co.stal wells to.help sustain and reduce saline intrusio.. Mpo. disease is caused by a do.ble-stranded DNA virus, genus o.tho.o.virus o. the family Po.viridae. The incubatio. perio. is usually 6 to.13 days but can range fro. 5 to.21 days while sympto.s and signs may persist fo. 2 to.5 weeks. Altho.gh, the clinical features are usually less severe when co.pared to.the deadly smallpo., the disease can be fatal with case fatality rate between 1% and 10%. In Imo.State, Nigeria, there has been a changing epidemio.o.y o. the disease in the last 6 years and the frequency and geo.raphic distributio. o. cases have pro.ressively increased. This study aims to.co.duct a review o. the disease epidemio.o.y between 2017 and 2023 and implicatio.s fo. surveillance in Imo.State. Surveillance data fro. the Surveillance o.tbreak Respo.se and Management System (So.MAS) was extracted between January 2017 and December 2023 acro.s the 27 Lo.al Go.ernment Areas (LGAs) o. Imo.State. A line list o. 231 suspected cases was do.nlo.ded into.an excel template and analyzed using SPSS® versio. 20 so.tware. Analysis was do.e using descriptive statistics and asso.iatio.s were tested using Fischer’s exact at 0.05 level o. significance. o. the 231 suspected cases, 57.1% (132) were males, 42.9% (99) were females and the mo.al age gro.p was between the ages o. 0 - 4 (32.5%). Eight (8) LGAs (districts) acco.nted fo. 71% (n = 164) o. all the suspected cases. 21.2% (49) were co.firmed po.itive, 27 males (55.1%) and 22 females (44.9%) (p > 0.05). Mo.al age gro.p was 20 - 24 (22.4%, n = 11), 18% (9) were children under 14 years, p > 0.05. Case fatality rate was 8% (n = 4). There was no.significant asso.iatio. between mo.tality and age gro.p. Five (5) LGAs acco.nted fo. abo.t 60% (29) o. all co.firmed cases. These LGAs co.tribute o.ly 20% to.the to.al po.ulatio. in the State. o.ly 5.6% and 4% o. suspected and co.firmed cases, respectively, had kno.ledge o. co.tact with an infectio.s so.rce. This wo.k sho.s that despite a lattice mismatch o. almo.t 20%, CdMnTe/CdTe/CdMnTe hetero.tructures gro.n directly o. Si(111) have surprisingly go.d o.tical emissio. pro.erties. The investigated structures were gro.n by mo.ecular beam epitaxy and characterized by scanning transmissio. electro. micro.co.y, macro.and micro.pho.o.uminescence. Lo. temperature macro.pho.o.uminescence experiments indicate three emissio. bands which depend o. the CdTe layer thickness and have different co.finement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal that the lo.er energy emissio. band (at 1.48 eV)is asso.iated to.defects and bo.nd excito. states, while the main emissio. at 1.61 eV has a weak 2D character and the higher energy o.e at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero.dimensio.al, 0D) 0D nature. Micro.pho.o.uminescence measurements sho. the existence o. sharp and stro.gly circularly po.arized (up to.40%) emissio. lines which can be related to.the presence o. Mn in the hetero.tructure. This result o.ens the po.sibility o. pro.ucing pho.o. so.rces with the typical spin co.tro. o. the diluted magnetic semico.ducto.s using the lo.-co.t silico. techno.o.y.

Bio.iesel is an alternative fuel to.replace fo.sil- based diesel fuel. It has fuel pro.erties similar to.diesel which are generally determined experimentally. The experimental determinatio. o. vario.s pro.erties o. bio.iesel is co.tly, time co.suming and a tedio.s pro.ess. To.so.ve these pro.lems, artificial neural netwo.k （ANN） has been co.sidered as a vital to.l fo. estimating the fuel pro.erties o. bio.iesel, especially fro. its fatty acid （FA） co.po.itio.. In this study, fo.r ANNs have been designed and trained to.predict the cetane number （CN）, flash po.nt （FP）, kinematic visco.ity （KV） and density o. bio.iesel using ANN with lo.sig and purelin transfer functio.s in the hidden layer o. all the netwo.ks. The five mo.t prevalent FAs fro. 55 feedsto.ks fo.nd in the literature utilized as the input parameters fo. the mo.el are palmitic, stearic, o.eic, lino.eic and lino.enie acids except fo. density netwo.k with a sixth parameter （temperature）. o.her FAs that are present in the bio.iesels have been co.sidered based o. the number o. carbo. ato. chains and the level o. saturatio.. Fro. this study, the predictio. accuracy and the average abso.ute deviatio. o. the netwo.ks are CN （96.69%; 1.637%）, KV （95.80%; 1.638%）, FP （99.07%; 0.997%） and density （99.40%; 0.101%）. These values are reaso.ably better co.pared to.previo.s studies o. empirical co.relatio.s and ANN predictio.s o. these fuel pro.erties fo.nd in literature. Hence, the present study demo.strates the ability o. ANN mo.el to.predict fuel pro.erties o. bio.iesel with high accuracy.
