Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the presence of senile plaques and neurofibrillary *** attempts to identify characteristic factors that are associated with the presence of the AD pathology on the one hand and that increase the risk of developing AD on the *** in non-rapid eye movement(NREM)sleep may meet both requirements for various ***,NREM-sleep is important for optimal memory *** addition,studies report that the presence of AD pathology is associated with NREM-sleep ***,more and more results appear to suggest that sleep problems are not only a symptom of AD but can also increase the risk of *** of these studies suggest that it is primarily a lack of NREM-sleep that is responsible for this increased ***,the majority investigated sleep only through subjective reporting,as a result of which NREMsleep could not be analyzed *** aim of this literature study is therefore to present the results of the studies that relate the AD pathology and NREM-sleep(registered by electroencephalography).Furthermore,we try to evaluate whether NREM-sleep analysis could be used to support the diagnosis of AD and whether NREM-sleep deficiency could be a causal factor in the development of AD.

This study was conducted to provide a five-year database on the breeding seasonality and breeding biology of a CentralAmerican cichlid fish Neetroplus nematopus, a biparental substratum-spawning cichlid that cares for its eggs, wrigglers, andfry for up to six weeks. A total of 503 breeding pairs were monitored for breeding success. Breeding pairs of N. nematopus aresexually dimorphic in size, with females averaging 39% of male body mass. Fry emerged from 85% of nesting cavities. Afterthree weeks, only 30% of the broods were present in the nesting cavity; these broods had a 30% survival rate, giving a 9% overallsurvival rate. Nineteen percent of the successful parents with three-week-old broods adopted foreign fry. A consistent unimodalbreeding peak in December was observed for five years. This breeding peak differed dramatically from the bimodal breedingseason 20 years found in the 1970s. The effects of extensive grenade fishing practices during the 1980s might have played a substantialrole in the observed change. Grenade fishing stopped in 1991, and the number of A. nematopus pairs increased by 136%from 1990 to 1995. With increased density of breeding fish, the breeding season for this species also expanded. The balance betweendivergent selection due to competition for breeding sites and stabilizing selection due to predation pressure on offspring islikely to mold the breeding season for N. nematopus and other cichlids of Lake Xiloá. We suggest that brood adoption and synchronyof breeding is a strategy to reduce predation on the parent's own

In this context, we applied the radial water jet drilling(RJD) technology to drill five horizontal holes into a quarry wall of the Gildehaus quarry close to Bad Bntheim, Germany. For testing the state-of-the-art jetting technology, a jetting experiment was performed to investigate the influence of geological heterogeneity on the jetting performance and the hole geometry, the influence of nozzle geometry and jetting pressure on the rate of penetration, and the possibility of localising the jetting nozzle utilizing acoustic activity. It is observed that the jetted holes can intersect fractures under varying angles, and the jetted holes do not follow a straight path when jetting at ambient surface condition. Cuttings from the jetting process retrieved from the holes can be used to estimate the reservoir rock permeability. Within the quarry, we did not observe a change in the rate of penetration due to jetting pressure *** monitoring was partially successful in estimating the nozzle location. Although the experiments were performed at ambient surface conditions, the results can give recommendations for a downhole application in deep wells.

Purpose:The study aimed to compare the effects of a long general warm-up,a long specific warm-up,and a short specific warm-up upon sprint ability in soccer ***:Twelve male soccer players(age:18.3±0.8 years,mean±SD;body mass:76.4±7.2 kg;body height:1.79±0.05 m) conducted 3 types of warm-ups with 1 week in between:a long general warm-up,a long specific warm-up,and a short specific warm-up followed by 3 sprints of 40 m *** best,average,and total sprinting times together with heart rate and ratings of perceived exertion were ***:The sprint times(best,average,and total time) were significantly better when performing a long specific or short specific warm-up compared with the long general warm-up(all p on exertion was significantly lower during the specific short warm-up(4.92 ± 0.90) compared with the longer ones(6.00 ± 0.74 and 6.25 ± 0.87,respectively).Conclusion:Specificity is more important in a warm-up routine before sprint performance than the duration of the warm-up.

In the early design stages,architects are in constant search of a design direction that can determine the success or failure of the final ***,in real design practice,most of the prediction methods for building performances,in this paper energy and thermal comfort,are utilised in the later design *** configuration is one of the most important issues for architectural design in the early design *** study investigates the correlations between the spatial indicators connected with architectural design and the building physics indicators ventilation performance and energy *** main objective is to explore the potential of applying spatial indicators using space syntax to predict ventilation performance and energy performance in order to support architects for the evaluation of their concepts and schemes in early design *** layout of a high-rise apartment in China in five different cities is chosen as a case *** results show that the selected three indicators:connectivity value,air change rate and annual cooling saving ratio are linearly correlated,not just at building level but also at room level.R2,the correlation coefficient of determination,is between 0.53 and 0.90(except for the case of Chongqing at building level).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of different exercise intensities induced by a soccer specific protocol on kicking performance in soccer ***: Twelve semi-professional male soccer players participated in this study and performed maximal instep kicks before and after the implementation of an exercise protocol to determine the influence of different intensities upon kicking ball velocity and the target-hitting ***: Analysis of variance designs with repeated measures showed that maximal ball velocity was affected only after the most intense circuit(F(6, 66) = 2.3; p = 0.041; η2= 0.18), while accuracy was not affected in the protocol(F(6, 66) = 0.19; p = 0.98; η2= 0.02). Low and moderate intensities did not affect accuracy or kicking ball ***: These findings suggest that kicking ball velocity is influenced by high-exercise intensities. Low and moderate exercise intensities do not affect the performance of the kick, and intensity does not influence accuracy. otherwise, it is possible that other mechanisms(not only physiological) may influence players during the exercise.

Aims:To assess the prognostic value of left ventricular(LV)global longitudinal strain(GLS)and global longitudinal early diastolic strain rate(GLSre)with regard to cardiovascular events,as congenital aortic stenosis(AoS)is associated with significant mortality and morbidity but predictors for clinical outcome are *** analysis provides a robust and reproducible method for early detection of LV dysfunction,which might be of prognostic ***:This prospective study,included clinically stable patients with congenital AoS between 2011–*** GLS and GLSre was performed in the apical 4,3 and 2-chamber views using Tomtec *** endpoint was a composite of death,heart failure,hospitalization,arrhythmia,thrombo-embolic events and ***:In total 138 patients were included(33[26–43]years,86(62%)male),NYHA class I:134(97%).Mean LV GLS was–15.3±3.2%,GLSre 0.66±0.18 s–*** correlated with NT-proBNP,LV volumes and ejection fraction(strongest LV GLS with LV EF:r–0.539,pongest LV GLSre with age:r–0.376,pollow-up of 5.9[5.5–6.2]years,the endpoint occurred in 53(38%)patients:4 patients died,9 developed heart failure,22 arrhythmias,8 thrombo-embolic events and 35 *** LV GLS(standardized HR(sHR 0.62(95%CI 0.47–0.81)and GLSre(sHR 0.62(95%CI 0.47–0.83)were associated with the *** multivariable analysis showed that both GLS and GLSre were associated independent of left atrial volume,NT-proBNP and prior ***:Left ventricular GLS and GLSre are reduced in adult patients with congenital *** markers are associated with adverse cardiac events and have clear clinical relevance.
