Prioritizing lung-protective ventilation has produced a clear mortality benefit in neonates with congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH).While there is a paucity of CDH-specific evidence to support any particular approach to lung-protective ventilation,a growing body of data in adults is beginning to clarify the mechanismsbehind ventilator-induced lung injury and inform safer management of mechanical ventilation in *** review summarizes the adult data and attempts to relate the findings,conceptually,to the CDH *** lessons from the adult studies are that much of the damage done during conventional mechanical ventilation affects normal lung tissue and that most of this damage occurs at the low-volume and high-volume extremes of the respiratory ***,it is important to prevent atelectasis by using sufficient positive end-expiratory pressure while also avoiding overdistention by scaling tidal volume to the amount of functional lung tissue rather than body *** early in acute respiratory distress syndrome improves outcomes,possibly because consistent respiratory mechanics facilitate avoidance of both atelectasis and overdistention—a mechanism that may also apply to the CDH ***-targeted conventional modes may be advantageous in CDH,but determining optimal tidal volume is *** high-frequency oscillatory ventilation and high-frequency jet ventilation have been used successfully as'rescue modes'to avoid extracorporeal membrane oxygenation,and a prospective trial comparing the two high-frequency modalities as the primary ventilation strategy for CDH is underway.

Purpose:Diaspora researchers work in one country but have ancestral origins in another,either through moves during a research career(mobile diaspora researchers)or by starting research in the target country(embedded diaspora researchers).Whilst mobile researchers might be tracked through affiliation changes in bibliometric databases,embedded researchers *** article reports an evidence-based discussion of which countries’diaspora researchers can be partially tracked using first or last names,addressing this ***/methodology/approach:A frequency analysis of first and last names of authors of all Scopus journal articles 2001-2021 for 200 countries or ***:There are great variations in the extent to which first or last names are uniquely national,from Monserrat(no unique first names)to Thailand(81%unique last names).Nevertheless,most countries have a subset of first or last names that are relatively *** the 50 countries with the most researchers,authors with relatively national names are always more likely to research their name-associated country,suggesting a continued national *** of researchers’first and last name frequencies and proportions are provided for 200 countries/*** limitations:only one period is tracked(2001-2021)and no attempt was made to validate the ancestral origins of any *** implications:Simple name heuristics can be used to identify the international spread of a sample of most countries’diaspora researchers,but some manual checks of individual names are needed to weed out false *** can supplement mobile researcher data from bibliometric ***/value:This is the first attempt to list name associations for the authors of all countries and large regions,and to identify the countries for which diaspora researchers could be tracked by name.

The fluidized-bed polymerization process has been in use for decades. From the manufacturer＇s perspective it is desirable to improve technology without major modification of the reactor system. Therefore, in order to meet the demand for new products or more efficient reactor operation, manufacturers prefer to improve the catalyst system in the most cost effective manner. Using polypropylene production as an example, some recent advances in fluidized-bed polymerization technology are presented.

In this paper, the marginal Rao-Blackwellized particle filter （MRBPF）, which fuses the Rao-Blackwellized particle filter （RBPF） algorithm and the marginal particle filter （MPF） algorithm, is presented. The state space is divided into linear and non-linear parts, which can be estimated separately by the MPF and the optional Kalman filter. Through simulation in the terrain aided navigation （TAN） domain, it is demonstrated that, compared with the RBPF, the root mean square errors （RMSE） and the error variance of the nonlinear state estimations by the proposed MRBPF are respectively reduced by 29% and 96%, while the unique particle count is increased by 80%. It is also found that the MRBPF has better convergence properties, and analysis has shown that the existing RBPF is nothing more than a special case of the MRBPF.

Can ChatGPT evaluate research quality?

Purpose:Assess whether ChatGPT 4.0 is accurate enough to perform research evaluations on journal articles to automate this time-consuming ***/methodology/approach:Test the extent to which ChatGPT-4 can assess the quality of journal articles using a case study of the published scoring guidelines of the UK Research Excellence Framework(REF)2021 to create a research evaluation *** was applied to 51 of my own articles and compared against my own quality ***:ChatGPT-4 can produce plausible document summaries and quality evaluation rationales that match the REF *** overall scores have weak correlations with my self-evaluation scores of the same documents(averaging r=0.281 over 15 iterations,with 8 being statistically significantly different from 0).In contrast,the average scores from the 15 iterations produced a statistically significant positive correlation of ***,averaging scores from multiple ChatGPT-4 rounds seems more effective than individual *** positive correlation may be due to ChatGPT being able to extract the author’s significance,rigour,and originality claims from inside each *** my weakest articles are removed,then the correlation with average scores(r=0.200)falls below statistical significance,suggesting that ChatGPT struggles to make fine-grained *** limitations:The data is self-evaluations of a convenience sample of articles from one academic in one *** implications:overall,ChatGPT does not yet seem to be accurate enough to be trusted for any formal or informal research quality evaluation *** evaluators,including journal editors,should therefore take steps to control its ***/value:This is the first published attempt at post-publication expert review accuracy testing for ChatGPT.

We investigated the resistance of acetylated rattan against soft rot and other soil inhabiting micro-organisms in comparison with wood of beech and Scots pine. Calamus manan of 10 and 13 years old under rubber tree canopy was acetylated to different levels by reaction times （0.25 to 30 hours） and was tested for soft rot decay for 32 weeks. Acetylated rattan at decay protection thresholds of 15.4% and 16.2% weight gain （WG） were fully protected, as shown by both weight loss and strength loss criteria. The static bending properties of untreated rattan decayed by soft rot were significantly lower than for acetylated rattan.

The immune checkpoint blockade therapy has profoundly revolutionized the field of cancer immunotherapy. However, despite great promise for a variety of cancers, the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors is still low in colorectal cancer(CRC). This is mainly due to the immunosuppressive feature of the tumor microenvironment(TME). Emerging evidence reveals that certain chemotherapeutic drugs induce immunogenic cell death(ICD), demonstrating great potential for remodeling the immunosuppressive TME. In this study, the potential of ginsenoside Rg3(Rg3) as an ICD inducer against CRC cells was confirmed using in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches. The ICD efficacy of Rg3 could be significantly enhanced by quercetin(QTN) that elicited reactive oxygen species(RoS). To amelioratein vivo delivery barriers associated with chemotherapeutic drugs, a folate(FA)-targeted polyethylene glycol(PEG)-modified amphiphilic cyclodextrin nanoparticle(NP) was developed for co-encapsulation of Rg3 and QTN. The resultant nanoformulation(***) significantly prolonged blood circulation and enhanced tumor targeting in an orthotopic CRC mouse model, resulting in the conversion of immunosuppressive TME. Furthermore, the *** achieved significantly longer survival of animals in combination with Anti-PD-L1. The study provides a promising strategy for the treatment of CRC.
