Background: Achieving t.e long t.rms goals of ant.ret.oviral t.eat.ent.(ARt. requires a careful approach during t.eat.ent.init.at.on t.at.t.kes int. account.pat.ent.s psychosocial st.t., availabilit. and accessibilit. of t.eat.ent.combinat.ons, and adherence support. Adverse drug react.ons t.at.occur during t.e init.al phases have a bearing on t.eat.ent.out.omes and t.us need t. be monit.red and t.eat.d. Object.ve: t.is st.dy was done t. assess lengt. of t.me (survival t.me) it.t.ok for clinically significant.adverse drug react.ons t. occur in pat.ent. t.king Nucleoside Reverse t.anscript.se Inhibit.rs (N(t.Rt.) available for t.eat.ent.of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infect.on in Zimbabwe. Met.ods: A ret.ospect.ve cohort.of pat.ent.dat. collect.d from January 2009 t. December 2012 was ext.act.d from an Elect.onic Healt. Record dat.base. Dat. from pat.ent. who were init.at.d on ant.ret.oviral (ARV) drug regimens cont.ining N(t.Rt. drugs were analysed for survival t.me. A sample of 205 pat.ent.files was ext.act.d for t.e t.me period for survival analysis using adverse drug react.ons due t. N(t.Rt. drugs. Result.: Aft.r dat. ext.act.on, a t.t.l of 205 pat.ent.records were used in det.rmining t.e t.me t. event.analysis of ADR’s in t.e cohort. t.e age range for t.e pat.ent. included in t.e st.dy was 9 - 76 wit. a mean of 41 years (s.d = 14.8). Pat.ent. init.at.d on st.vudine had a lower survival t.me before a clinically significant.ADR compared t. t.nofovir (-365 days, p-value t.ent. on zidovudine also had a less t.me before a significant.react.on compared t. t.ose on t.nofovir (-230 days;p-value = 0.008). Pat.ent. on zidovudine fared bet.er compared t. t.ose on st.vudine (-134 days;p-value t.e mean survival t.me was highest.for t.nofovir (618 days), followed by zidovudine (388 days), and t.en st.vudine (254 days).Conclusion: Pat.ent. on t.nofovir have a longer survival t.me before a clinically significant.adverse react.on. t.eat.ent.program
