Contributions of Social Networks to Health and Care Services in Myanmar’s Older Adult Population: 2012 Myanmar Aging Study

Background: Myanmar’s National Health Plan 2017-2021 set out concrete steps to strengthen the health system on the way to achieving the goal of universal health coverage by 2030. Ensuring these steps include the 7.7 million older adults in Myanmar’s population by 2030 will require novel strategies that improve health and reduce financial burden of health expenditures. An examination of the relationship between social networks and selected health outcomes was undertaken to determine whether these networks can safeguard older adults’ continued contributions to family, society and their own health. Methods: Secondary analysis of a nationally representative study of adults aged 60 years and older. Ordered logistic regression analyses with weighted data were used to examine the relationship between a social network variable and a number of health outcomes. Findings: Stronger social networks were associated with better health outcomes like better memory (OR 1.2), lower reported walking difficulties (OR 0.58), better self-reported health (R 1.15). People with higher social ties were also more like to receive regular assistance and provide care for other household members. Interpretation: Social networks play a role in mediating health outcomes and interactions with the health care systems. Social network interventions should be explored as part of policy mechanisms to ensure universal health coverage for older adults in Myanmar.

The size effect of Ti-6Al-4V submillimeter structures manufactured by selective laser melting,which is critical for metallic mechanical metamaterials of unique mechanical properties,for example,nega-tive Poisson’s ratio and ultrahigh modulus,which show promise in biomedical,environmental,energy-related applications,has not been systematically *** here are the quantification of the porosities by X-ray microtomography scans,texture analysis,and mechanical characterization of the addi-tively manufactured Ti-6Al-4V *** found linearly decreasing porosities,increasing mechan-ical properties,and increasing texture in the microbeam with increasing diameter from 250 to 500μ*** variation of microstructure in microbeams of different diameters and along the sample height,result-ing from the printing parameters and the thermal conditions,leads to the discrepancy between the be-havior observed in experiments and finite element *** results provide the structure-property-processing correlation to improve the manufacturing and prediction of the mechanical behavior of metal-lic mechanical metamaterials.

缅甸位于中南半岛的西部,是中国重要的邻国。随着中国的快速发展,缅甸与中国的贸易、文化交流越来越多,缅甸社会对汉语越来越重视,学习汉语的人数也在持续增多。目前,缅甸汉语教学的主力军是民办的华文中小学,而民办华文中小学班级多、学生多、开设课程多的状况直接导致了汉语师资短缺,这成为制约缅甸汉语发展的主要因素。可见,民办学校的汉语教学要实现质的突破,关键在于师资队伍的建设,特别是优秀师资。本文以缅甸腊戌市华文中小学教师队伍为样本,通过大量的问卷调查和实地访谈等方式,对汉语教师队伍的现状进行了定性和定量研究。旨在了解缅甸汉语教师队伍现状、教学状况及存在的问题等,同时对提高华文中小学汉语教学质量提出一些可行性建议。全文由五章组成：第一章是选题的目的、意义和研究现状,同时梳理了缅甸汉语教学的历史与现状。第二章调查并分析了缅甸腊戌市华文中小学教师的基本情况。其中,包括教师的自然情况、教师的素质发展与相关情况。具体涉及教师队伍的年龄结构、教师的国籍分布、教师的择业观和教师的科研情况等。第三章重点调查了教师的教学情况。此外还考察了教师与教材的关系。如：教师对教学辅导用书的使用、教师对现有教材的评价等问题。第四章对缅甸腊戌市华文中小学教师的培训情况进行了调查分析。通过对缅甸现有的教师培训方式和模式的调查,考察了教师任职以来参加培训情况与培训内容,探讨了教师对未来参加培训的期望等情况。第五章是余论。通过对调查结果的分析,我们发现腊戌市汉语教师队伍存在着学历层次参差不齐、专业水平不高、科研能力欠佳、电脑能力较弱、部分教师在教案和教学计划的准备上不充分等问题。针对这些问题,本文提出三点建议：一、依靠中国方面的帮助,通过多种形式的交流与合作开展师资培训,提高师资能力;二、缅甸方面要加速师资建设的专业化与师资管理的制度化;三、汉语教师需提高自身素质。

The environs of Taungoo Township, Bago Region are one of the high biodiversity areas in Myanmar, locating eastern side of the high mountain ranges of Middle Yoma. The dense of every green and deciduous forest in the middle Middle Yoma were logging since 10 - 20 years ago. The birds inhabiting in that area have to refuge in suitable habitats nearby. The resent status of bird species is needed to assess the diversity of birds with the respect to distribution and seasonal variation after the construction of Yangon-Nepyitaw, Myanmar after twenty years ago. A total of 50 species of 27 genera, 22 families under nine orders were recorded. That represented 44 resident species (32 terrestrial species and 12 water bird species), and 6 species of migratory birds (1 terrestrial species and 5 water bird species). As habitat utilization, 24 bird species in paddy fields, 21 species in scattered trees, 33 species in wetland and 25 species in forest habitat types were investigated. Some species used more than one habitat types. According to the assessment of abundance categories based on the calculation of individual numbers of the birds, abundant category (3 species), common bird (1 species), frequent category (5 species), uncommon category (3 species) and rare species (28 species) were categorized. Hence, bird community was still sustainable in this area. In the aspect of conservation status, all recorded bird species were under least concern categories, according to the IUCN Redlist in the study area.

Magnetite Fe304 （ferrite） has attracted considerable interest for its exceptional physical properties： It is predicted to be a semimetallic ferromagnetic with a high Curie temperature, it displays a metal-insulator transition, and has potential oxide-electronics applications. Here, we fabricate a high-magnetization （〉 1 Tesla） high-resistance （-0.1 Ωcm） sub-nanostructured （grain size 〈 3 nm） Fe304 film via grain-size control and nano-engineering. We report a new phenomenon of spin- flipping of the valence-spin tetrahedral FeB＊ in the sub-nanostructured Fe304 film, which produces the high magnetization. Using soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism and soft X-ray absorption, both at the Fe L3,2- and O K-edges, and supported by first-principles and charge-transfer multiple calculations, we observe an anomalous enhancement of double exchange, accompanied by a suppression of the superexchange interactions because of the spin-flipping mechanism via oxygen at the grain boundaries. Our result may open avenues for developing spin- manipulated giant magnetic Fe304-based compounds via nano-grain size control.

Oil and gas seismic exploration have to adopt irregular seismic acquisition due to the increasingly complex exploration conditions to adapt to complex geological conditions and ***,the irregular seismic acquisition is accompanied by the lack of acquisition data,which requires high-precision *** sparse signal feature in the transform domain in compressed sensing theory is used in this paper to recover the missing signal,involving sparse transform base optimization and threshold ***,this paper analyzes and compares the effects of six sparse transformation bases on the reconstruction accuracy and efficiency of irregular seismic data and establishes the quantitative relationship between sparse transformation and reconstruction accuracy and ***,an adaptive threshold modeling method based on sparse coefficient is provided to improve the reconstruction *** results show that the method has good adaptability to different seismic data and sparse transform *** f-x domain reconstruction method of effective frequency samples is studied to address the problem of low computational *** parallel computing strategy of curvelet transform combined with OpenMP is further proposed,which substantially improves the computational efficiency under the premise of ensuring the reconstruction ***,the actual acquisition data are used to verify the proposed *** results indicate that the proposed method strategy can solve the regularization problem of irregular seismic data in production and improve the imaging quality of the target layer economically and efficiently.

AIM To explore the applicability of the Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver(APASL) and European Association for the Study of the Liver(EASL) guidelines for acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF) in profiling patients and determining the *** Patients admitted to a tertiary hospital in Singapore with acute decompensation of liver disease from January 2004to July 2014 are screened for ACLF according to the APASL and EASL criteria. The patients' data(including basic demographics, information about existing chronic liver disease, information about the acute decompensation, relevant laboratory values during admission, treatment, and outcome) are retrospectively analyzed to determine the background, precipitating factors and *** A total of 458 liver patients is analyzed, and 78 patients with ACLF are identified. Sixty-three patients(80.8%) meet the APASL criteria, 64 patients(82.1%) meet the EASL criteria, and 49 patients(62.8%) fulfilled both criteria. The most common causes of acute liver injury are bacterial infections(59.0%), hepatitis B flare(29.5%), and variceal bleeding(24.4%). The common aetiologies of the underlying chronic disease included hepatitis B(43.6%), alcoholic(20.5%) and cryptogenic(11.5%) liver disease. The overall mortality rate is 61.5%. Increased age, the number of organ failures(as per CLIF-SOFA score), peak creatinine, INR, and amylase levels are associated with increased mortality or the need for liver transplantation. 14.3% of patients undergo liver transplantation with a 100% 1-year survival rate. CONCLUSION Both APASL and EASL criteria have identified ACLF patients with high three-month mortality, but those who fulfill APASL criteria alone have a better survival.
