The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need to strengthen public health *** response,the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction(UNDRR) Public Health System Resilience Scorecard(Scorecard) was applied in workshops across multiple *** aim of our research was to explore the workshop findings to develop priority strategies for strengthening public health system *** conducted a workshop from 14 to 16 March 2023,at the UNDRR Global Education and Training Institute in Incheon,Republic of Korea.A sequential modified Delphi method was utilized to develop a set of prioritized resilience *** were drawn from 70 strategies identified from 13 distinct workshops in eight *** two surveys,23 strategies were *** received ratings of "High" or Very High" from89% of *** related to the inclusion of public health risks in emergency plans,integrating multidisciplinary teams into public health,enabling local transport mechanisms,and improving the ability to manage an influx of *** Scorecard provides an adaptable framework to identify and prioritize strategies for strengthening public health system *** leveraging this methodology,our study demonstrated how resilience strategies could inform disaster risk reduction funding,policies,and actions.

Human adaptive immunity involves the production and secretion of antibodies by differentiated B cells(ie.,antibody-secreting cells,also called plasma cells)in response to *** secreted antigen-specific antibodies are immunoglobulins that are present at substantial concentrations in blood,mucosal secretions,and breast ***,human immunoglobulins consist of two identical heavy(H)chains and two identical light(L)chains that are connected by disulfide bridges to form a homodimer of heterodimers(ie.,H+Ll2).Each heterodimer consists of one H chain linked with one L chain,whereas the homodimer is formed by linking two H chains *** genes for both the L and H chains are encoded by ligated gene segments that are genetically rearranged during V(D)J recombination,a process that endows each B cell with a unique receptor,giving rise to the enormous diversity of the B-cell antigen receptor repertoire.

Multi-phase computer modeling and laboratory study of dust capture by an inertial Vortecone scrubber

Dust generated in mining and tunneling activities is hazardous to health of persons and safety of operations. These projects employ pick-milling machines to extract minerals and rock by mechanical *** machines are equipped with flooded-bed scrubbers that encase dust particles within fine water films as particles encounter a flooded wire-mesh screen. A major disadvantage is that the screen gets clogged when particles become trapped within the wire mesh, reducing airflow through the scrubber and increasing ambient dust concentrations. Thus, the system requires frequent maintenance or replacement. The application of a Vortecone scrubber as an improved alternative to conventional fibrous type scrubbers is investigated. A Vortecone forces dust-laden air and water to follow a complex, rapidly swirling *** momentum drives dust particles towards the periphery where they are captured by the water *** operating characteristics of a reduced-scale physical model of a Vortecone, with its primary axis mounted in the horizontal orientation, was analyzed numerically and experimentally. Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) models depicting the spraying action and multi-phase air/water flows using the volume of fraction(VOF) approach, are presented. Experimental results, utilizing an optical particle counting technique to establish the dust-cleaning capabilities of the model, are also described.

Dear editor,Airbags are an example of passive preventive measures reducing the risk of severe injury or death from a motor vehicle accident. However, airbags have also been described as a source of injuries related to airbag deployment. Typical airbag-related injuries are eye injuries, cervical spine injuries, rib fractures, cardiac injuries, extremity injuries, and thoracic aortic rupture(TAR).[1-3] Approximately one-third of patients with TAR who survive till hospital admission die before surgical treatment.[4] We present a patient with TAR after a lowspeed motor vehicle accident with rapidly deteriorating vital signs and subsequent death on the scene.

Aberrant epigenetic alterations play a decisive role in cancer initiation and propagation via the regulation of key tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes or by modulation of essential signaling *** is a highly regulated mechanism required for the recycling and degradation of surplus and damaged cytoplasmic constituents in a lysosome dependent *** cancer,autophagy has a divergent *** instance,autophagy elicits tumor promoting functions by facilitating metabolic adaption and plasticity in cancer stem cells(CSCs)and cancer ***,autophagy exerts pro-survival mechanisms to these cancerous cells by influencing survival,dormancy,immunosurveillance,invasion,metastasis,and resistance to anti-cancer *** addition,recent studies have demonstrated that various tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes involved in autophagy,are tightly regulated via different epigenetic modifications,such as DNA methylation,histone modifications and non-coding *** impact of epigenetic regulation of autophagy in cancer cells and CSCs is not ***,uncovering the complex mechanism of epigenetic regulation of autophagy provides an opportunity to improve and discover novel cancer ***,this would aid in improving clinical outcome for cancer *** this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of the existing knowledge available on epigenetic regulation of autophagy and its importance in the maintenance and homeostasis of CSCs and cancer cells.

Dielectric behaviors at microwave frequencies and Mssbauer effects of chalcedony, agate, and zultanite

In this study, dielectric properties within 8-12 GHz microwave frequencies, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emis- sion spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, synchronized two thermal analyses, and 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy analysis of chalcedony, agate, and zultanite samples from Turkey are presented. Agate and chalcedony show the same nine vibrational absorption peaks obtained unlike zultanite from FTIR spectra in the 350 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1 range, ε＇ values of chalcedony, agate and zultanite derived at 10.5 GHz were 4.67, 4.41, and 7.34, respectively, eI and e~ values of the studied samples at the microwave frequencies are related to the percentage weight of their constituent parts in their chemical compositions. 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy results confirm the existence of iron-containing islands in the crystal structure of zultanite, agate, and chalcedony samples, equipped them with magnetic features typical for magnetic nanoparticles including superparamagnetism. The presence of iron-containing islands significantly affects the magnetic, dielectric, and optical properties of studied samples that are not observed for pure minerals without any foreign inclusions.
