Universal newborn hearing screening program in Saudi Arabia: Current insight

Newborn hearing screening(NHS) programs are essential to identify hearing loss early in life and to improve outcomes in children. In Saudi Arabia, the national NHS program has been operational since 2016;however, few studies have evaluated its status, and none have covered all provinces across the country. This cross-sectional retrospective study provides an overview of the program's status across all provinces, focusing on screening coverage rates, referral/fail rates, and follow-up procedures. In 2021, 199,034 newborns were screened, with a coverage rate of 92.6% and an overall referral/fail rate of 1.87%. These performance measures provide a foundation for future progress and improvements. This study highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to enhance the program's effectiveness and sustainability.

Cluster Modulation: A Generalized Modulation Scheme Leading to NOMA or Adaptive Modulation

The need for higher data rate and higher systems capacity leads to several solutions including higher constellation size, spatial multiplexing, adaptive modulation and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA). Adaptive Modulation makes use of the user’s location from his base station, such that, closer users get bigger constellation size and hence higher data rate. A similar idea of adaptive modulation that makes use of the user’s locations is the NOMA technique. Here the base station transmits composite signals each for a different user at a different distance from the base station. The transmitted signal is formed by summing different user’s constellations with different weights. The closer the users the less average power constellation is used. This will allow the closer user to the base station to distinguish his constellation and others constellation. The far user will only distinguish his constellation and other user’s data will appear as a small interference added to his signal. In this paper, it is shown that the Adaptive modulation and the NOMA are special cases of the more general Cluster Modulation technique. Therefore, a general frame can be set to design both modulation schemes and better understanding is achieved. This leads to designing a multi-level NOMA and/or flexible adaptive modulation with combined channel coding.

Background:This study aimed to assess the occupational risks encountered by Healthcare Workers(HCWs)in Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 ***:A cross-sectional survey was carried out from May to October *** a multi-stage stratified random sampling technique,an online questionnaire was sent to the recruited HCWs,across Saudi ***:Of the 768 HCWs recruited,702 participated in the survey.A significant majority(over 80%)reported working beyond 8 hours ***-19 infection,confirmed via PCR,was identified in 25%of the ***,infection was significantly correlated with direct or close contact(p=0.0007).Psychological distress was reported by 81%,with anxiety being the most prevalent(33%),followed by stress(19%),depression(17%),and insomnia(12%).Around 20%experienced headaches post-PPE use,while 14%reported adverse skin reactions,predominantly allergy and dermatitis.A concerning one-third of respondents reported exposure to ***:High infection rate,physical and psychological risks among HCWs especially those in direct contact with patients,reflect the need for enhancing the entirety of outbreak preparedness and response,specifically *** surveillance system,is crucial to adequately monitor and support HCWs during pandemic scenarios.

Characteristics of Gold and Its Mineralization Style in the Boulon Djounga Eastern Perimeter of Liptako Mining Company (Central Southwestern Niger)

The Boulon Djounga eastern perimeter is part of the Tiawa operating permit of the Société des Mines du Liptako (SML), located in the central southwestern part of Liptako (Niger). In this study, we used field data, Reverse Circulation (RC) surveys and chemical analyzes of gold to determine the characteristics of gold and its mineralization style. The eastern perimeter of Boulon Djounga is represented by a succession of metabasalts and metasediments both intersected by intrusions of quartz and dolerite dykes, and covered by sandstone and clayey rocks. Gold is present in low contents (0.00 - 0.30 ppm) in the sedimentary cover and in medium (0.30 - 1.00 ppm) or high contents (1.00 - 4.534 ppm) in the metasediments, and in the gray quartz veins and locally in the volcanics. It exists in a disseminated state or in a concentrated state in the surrounding areas in the form of discrete grains associated with sulphurous minerals (pyrite: FeS2, chalcopyrite: CuFeS2 or arsenopyrite: FeAsS). The presence of gold in the quartz veins, and the NE-SW and NW-SE orientations of the ore bodies suggest that the eastern Boulon Djounga gold mineralization would be established during a late magmatic extensive phase.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a versatile biomaterial with unique properties that make it promising for various biomedical applications, including wound healing. The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays a crucial role in wound healing, providing a structural scaffold and signaling cues for cell migration and proliferation. This study investigates the potential of BC as a scaffold for ECM production and its effect on in vivo wound healing. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of Green Propolis and Usnic acid to the culture medium and natural materials before the bacteria are inoculated. In vivo behaviour using natural membranes for regenerative medicine is presented and it is in edit. Overall, our findings demonstrate the potential of BC as a scaffold for ECM production and its beneficial effects on in vivo wound healing. BC-based dressings may offer a novel approach to promoting wound healing and tissue regeneration in clinical settings. Further studies are warranted to optimize BC-based therapies and explore their full potential in regenerative medicine.

The pattern password method is amongst the most attractive authentication methods and involves drawing a pattern;this is seen as easier than typing a ***,since people with visual impairments have been increasing their usage of smart devices,this method is inaccessible for them as it requires them to select points on the touch ***,this paper exploits the haptic technology by introducing a vibration-based pattern password approach in which the vibration feedback plays an important *** approach allows visually impaired people to use a pattern password through two developed vibration feedback:pulses,which are counted by the user,and duration,which has to be estimated by the *** order to make the proposed approach capable to prevent shoulder-surfing attacks,a camouflage pattern approach is *** experimental study is conducted to evaluate the proposed approach,the results of which show that the vibration pulses feedback is usable and resistant to shoulder-surfing attacks.

Deep Fakes in Healthcare:How Deep Learning Can Help to Detect Forgeries

With the increasing use of deep learning technology,there is a growing concern over creating deep fake images and videos that can potentially be used for *** healthcare,manipulating medical images could lead to misdiagnosis and potentially life-threatening ***,the primary purpose of this study is to explore the use of deep learning algorithms to detect deep fake images by solving the problem of recognizing the handling of samples of cancer and other ***,this research proposes a framework that leverages state-of-the-art deep convolutional neural networks(CNN)and a large dataset of authentic and deep fake medical images to train a model capable of distinguishing between authentic and fake medical ***,the paper trained six CNN models,namely,ResNet101,ResNet50,DensNet121,DenseNet201,MobileNetV2,*** models had trained using 2000 samples over three classes:Untampered,False-Benign,and False-Malicious,and compared against several state-of-the-art deep fake detection *** proposed model enhanced ResNet101 by adding more layers,achieving a training accuracy of 99%.The findings of this study show near-perfect accuracy in detecting instances of tumor injections and removals.

Recently,with the spread of online services involving websites,attack-ers have the opportunity to expose these services to malicious *** protect these services,A Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart(CAPTCHA)is a proposed *** many Arabic countries have developed their online services in Arabic,Arabic text-based CAPTCHA has been introduced to improve the usability for their ***-over,there exist a visual cryptography(VC)technique which can be exploited in order to enhance the security of text-based CAPTCHA by encrypting a CAPTCHA image into two shares and decrypting it by asking the user to stack them on each ***,as yet,the implementation of this technique with regard to Arabic text-based CAPTCHA has not been carried ***,this paper aims to implement an Arabic printed and handwritten text-based CAPTCHA scheme based on the VC *** evaluate this scheme,experi-mental studies are conducted,and the results show that the implemented scheme offers a reasonable security and usability levels with text-based CAPTCHA itself.
