Uniform and Homogeneous Growth of Copper Nanoparticles on Electrophoretically Deposited Carbon Nanotubes Electrode for Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensor

The multiwalled carbon nanotubes thin-film-based electrode was fabricated by electrophoretic deposition and modified with copper （Cu） nanoparticles to fabricate Cu/CNTs nanocomposite sensor for nonenzymatic glucose detection. The expensive glassy carbon electrode was replaced by fluorine-doped tin oxide glass containing CNTs film to confine the Cu nanoparticles growth by electrodeposition through cyclic voltammetry （CV）. The ultraviolet visible and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the successful deposition of Cu nanoparticles on the CNTs-modified electrode. The atomic force microscopy images confirrqed the morphology of electrodeposited Cu on CNTs film as uniformly dispersed particles. The electrocatalytic activity of electrode to the glucose oxidation was investigated in alkaline medium by CV and amperometric measurements. The fabricated sensor exhibited a fast response time of less than 5 s and the sensitivity of 314 μA rnm^-1 cm^-2 with linear concentration range （0.02-3.0 mm） having detection limit 10.0 μm. Due to simple preparation of sensor, Cu/CNTs nanocomposite electrodes are a suitable candidate for reliable determination of glucose with good stability.

The conversion of chemical feedstock materials into high value-added products accompanied with dehydrogenation is of great value in the chemical ***,the catalytic dehydrogenation reaction is inhibited by a limited number of expensive noble metal catalysts and lacks understanding of dehydrogenation ***,we report the use of heterogeneous non-noble metal iron nanoparticles(NPs) incorporated mesoporous nitrogen-doped carbon to investigate the dehydrogenation mechanism based on experiment observation and density functional theory(DFT) *** NPs catalyst displays excellent performance in the dehydrogenation of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline(THQ)with 100% selectivity and 100% conversion for 10-12 h at room *** calculated adsorption energy implies that THQ prefers to adsorb on Fe NPs as compared with absence of Fe *** is more,the energy barrier of transition state is relatively low,illustrating the dehydrogenation is *** work provides an atomic scale mechanism guidance for the catalytic dehydrogenation reaction and points out the direction for the design of new catalysts.

The Uranium Prospects in mika Region, Northeastern Nigeria

Uranium exploration especially in currently non-producing countries like Nigeria possesses high economic prospect. This study investigates a new uranium prospect in mika, Northeastern Nigeria. The mika uranium mineralization is located in mika, Taraba State. Two lodes were identified and additional nine (9) trenches were added. The main lode in the west extends about 10 m, ore vein strikes 348°, inclination 42°and the strike of the lode 306°with average uranium content of 18%. The eastern trench is about 8 × 4 × 6 m which exposes a veinlet of pitchblende. From the petrography, one can deduce that the granitic host rock has suffered deformation resulting in crushing of quartz crystals and stretching of plagioclase. The uraninite and chalcedony in the late phase filled up the fractures along the crystal grain boundaries as veinlets. The laboratory gamma ray analysis of the samples showed that the secondary uranium content is 0.1%, while the primary uranium ore grade is 1.5%. Radiometric in situ measurements showed that Th and K ranges from 47.3 - 3654 ppm and 4.26% - 6.26% respectively. From the survey, a strong radiometric zone extends 800 × 35 m in an NW-SE direction and has highest radiation content of 1200 cpm against the background count rate of 30 cpm. Generally, the uranium concentrations in the ores in mika area range from 0.03% - 0.12%. Since only the surface occurrences have been explored, the study area is a good prospect for future development when properly explored. The North-eastern Nigeria has been roughly explored by Nigeria Uranium mining Company (NUmCO) in 1980, but no formal exploration had been followed after that, especially near the site of this article. Spontaneous coronary dissection is more commonly reported in females and is an important differential diagnosis for acute coronary syndrome. Accelerated idioventricular rhythm has been reported before with reperfusion post myocardial ischemia. We report a case of accelerated idioventricular rhythm in a patient with spontaneous coronary artery dissection. A 45-year-old Caucasian female presented with left sided chest pain radiating to the neck and palpitations. Admission ECG showed accelerated idioventricular rhythm. Troponin I peaked at 0.5 ng/ml. Coronary angiography showed mid to distal left anterior descending artery dissection with adequate distal flow. Patient was initially medically managed with aspirin, metoprolol, intravenous heparin and eptifibatide infusions but continued to have symptoms of unstable angina. She underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention with 2 drug eluting stents and was discharged back home symptom free on dual platelet therapy. Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is an important differential diagnosis for acute coronary syndrome especially in younger females. Accelerated idioventricular rhythm can be a presentation of coronary dissection and may indicate instability. Early percutaneous coronary intervention should be considered in such patients.

To develop an advanced human society in this era smart energy consumption is a major *** this regard,highly economical and renewable energy sources *** energy and hydrogen energy are ideal choices in scientific research *** photovoltaic and electrochemical energy conversion systems,dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs) and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) have some major advantages such as cost effectiveness,easy assembly,higher power conversion efficiency(PCE),low overpotential and nature ***,we have designed a series of electrocatalytic materials by doping manganese(mn) and Cobalt(Co) alone as a single metal and together(Co/mn) as bimetal into Ziff-8 based N-doped carbon structures to investigate the synergistic effects after each *** performances were observed after integration of mn and Co as(mn@NC and Co@NC) respectively,which were further intensified by bimetal incorporation of Co/mn together as Co/mn@*** solar cell devised with low-cost Co/mn@NC based counter electrode exhibits higher PCE than that of platinum electrode(8.05% vs.6.85%).Additionally,in electrochemical water splitting the catalyst Co/mn@NC exhibits a small overpotential at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 in 1 m *** work imposes towards a modern perspective to develop a highly efficient hybrid electrocatalyst having a promising approach to perform as multifunctional catalysts in hydrogen evolution reaction,triiodide reduction reaction,and also in advanced clean energy production systems.

meplazumab,a humanized CD147 antibody,has shown favourable safety and efficacy in our previous clinical *** DEFLECT(NCT04586153),167 patients with severe COVID-19 were enroled and randomized to receive three dosages of meplazumab and a *** at 0.12 mg/kg,compared to the placebo group,showed clinical benefits in significantly reducing mortality by 83.6%(2.4%vs.14.6%,p=0.0150),increasing the proportion of patients alive and discharged without supplemental oxygen(82.9%vs.70.7%,p=0.0337)and increasing the proportion of patients who achieved sustained clinical improvement(41.5%vs.31.7%).The response rate in the 0.2 mg/kg group was relatively increased by 16.0%compared with the placebo group(53.7%vs.46.3%).meplazumab also reduced the viral loads and multiple cytokine *** with the placebo group,the 0.3 mg/kg significantly increased the virus negative rate by 40.6%(p=0.0363)and reduced IL-8 level(p=0.0460);the 0.2 mg/kg increased the negative conversion rate by 36.9%,and reduced IL-4(p=0.0365)and IL-8 levels(p=0.0484).In this study,the adverse events occurred at a comparable rate across the four groups,with no unexpected safety findings *** conclusion,meplazumab promoted COVID-19 convalescence and reduced mortality,viral load,and cytokine levels in severe COVID-19 population with good safety profile.
