Com.unity ecology and spatial distribution of trees in a tropical wet evergreen forest in Kaptai national park in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh

We investigated the floristic com.osition, woody species diversity and spatial distribution of trees in a tropical wet evergreen forest in Kaptai national park in Chittagong Hill Tracks, Bangladesh. We recorded 25 fam.lies, 37 genera, 40 species and 1771 woody individuals in a 0.09 ha plot. Euphorbiaceae and m.raceae were the m.st species- rich fam.lies, and Castanopsis, Ficus and Term.naliawere the m.st species-rich genera. Bursera serrata Wall. ex Colebr. was the dom.nant species in term. of highest im.ortance value （13%）. Trem. orientalis （L.） B1 was typically a light dem.nding species as it appeared in the top can- opy with only one individual having the seventh highest IV, but had no regeneration. The expected m.xim.m.num.er of species （Sm.x） was 140, indicating that m.ny species m.y invade the forest as the Sm. is greater than the recorded total num.er of species. The nature of the disappear- ance and appearance of species in the present forest reflects instability of floristic com.osition. The values of Shannon＇s index H＇ and Pielou＇s index J＇（evenness） were 3.36 bit and 0.63, respectively. These values show m.derately high species diversity as com.ared to other subtropical forests in the tropics. In addition, a sam.le area of 200 m. in this forest would be sufficient for m.asuring the diversity indices H＂ and ,/＇, whereas the trend of J＇m.y indicate the rate of equality of individuals am.ng the different species decreased with increasing area. The distribu- tion pattern for the total stand was com.letely random. However, the dom.nant species showed aggregate distribution for sm.ll areas, but random.distribution for large areas. The spatial association between species showed that the strongest positive interspecific association occurred between Streblus asper Lour. and Castanea indica Roxh. （09 = 0.51）. Hyper-im.unoglobulin m.syndrom. is an X-linked prim.ry im.unodeficiency disease caused by m.tations in the CD40 ligand *** CD40 ligand has been recently highlighted as playing a key role in the pathogenesis of prim.ry biliary *** the present study,we assessed an extensive set of serum.autoantibodies in a series of well-defined patients with hyper-im.unoglobulin m.***,liver-related and liver-not-related autoantibodies IgG,Igm.and IgA were tested by ELISA and standard indirect im.unofluorescence in HEp-2 cells in 13 Tunisian patients(8 m.les and 5 fem.les,aged 1–12 years)with hyper-im.unoglobulin m.syndrom. during 1995–2012 and,as controls,21 age-and gender-m.tched blood *** level of Igm.antibody against m.T3 was significantly higher in patients than in controls(35.8 vs 10.7,P=0.002).Half of the hyperim.unoglobulin m.syndrom. patients were found to be anti-m.T3 Igm.positive vs none of the controls(Po0.0001).Twenty-three percent of patients were found to be anti-sp100 antibody positive vs only 0.05%of *** im.unofluorescence,92.3%of patients were m.T3 Igm.positive vs none of the *** conclusion,the Igm.class of anti-m.T3 antibodies was shown to be present by both ELISA and im.unofluorescence in m.st of the patients with hyper-im.unoglobulin m.*** presence of the hallm.rk of prim.ry biliary cholangitis,a disease where the CD40 ligand is a key player,in an im.unodeficiency disease caused by m.tations in the CD40 ligand gene is very intriguing and opens new scenarios in understanding the im.une pathogenesis of prim.ry biliary cholangitis.

Com.ined adm.nistration of platelet rich plasm. and autologous bone m.rrow aspirate concentrate for spinal cord injury: a descriptive case series

Adm.nistration of platelet rich plasm.(PRP) and bone m.rrow aspirate concentrate(Bm.C) has shown som. prom.se in the treatm.nt of neurological conditions;however, there is lim.ted inform.tion on com.ined adm.nistration. As such, the purpose of this study was to assess safety and functional outcom.s for patients adm.nistered com.ined autologous PRP and Bm.C for spinal cord injury(SCI). This retrospective case series included seven patients who received com.ined treatm.nt of autologous PRP and Bm.C via intravenous and intrathecal adm.nistration as salvage therapy for SCI. Patients were reviewed for adverse reactions and clinical outcom.s using the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) for up to 1 year, as perm.tted by availability of follow-up data. Injury levels ranged from.C3 through T11, and elapsed tim. between injury and salvage therapy ranged from.2.4 m.nths to 6.2 years. Post-procedure com.lications were m.ld and rare, consisting only of self-lim.ted headache and subjective m.m.ry im.airm.nt in one patient. Four patients experienced severe disability prior to PRP com.ined with Bm.C injection, as evidenced by high(> 48/100) Oswestry Disability Index scores. Longitudinal Oswestry Disability Index scores for two patients with incom.lete SCI at C6 and C7, both of whom.had cervical spine injuries, dem.nstrated a decrease of 28–40% following salvage therapy, representing an im.rovem.nt from.severe to m.nim.l disability. In conclusion, intrathecal/intravenous co-adm.nistration of PRP and Bm.C resulted in no significant com.lications and m.y have had som. clinical benefits. Larger clinical studies are needed to further test this m.thod of treatm.nt for patients with SCI who otherwise have lim.ted m.aningful treatm.nt options. This study was reviewed and approved by the Ohio Health Institutional Review Board(IRB No. 1204946) on m.y 16, 2018.
