Aim:Intravesical Bacille Calmette-Guérin(BCG)is the mainstay adjuvant treatment of non-muscle-invasive bladder ***,one third of the patients on BCG regimen relapse within the first year of *** study aimed at identifying biomarkers to predict response to BCG ***:Gene expression was analyzed in blood cells of 58 patients treated with BCG through six consecutive weekly instillations and then at month 3,6,9,and *** tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-10,interferon(IFN)-γ,IL-1β,IL-2,IL-4,and IL-6;chemokines CCL2,CCL3,CCL8,CXCL9,and IP-10;and mediators of cytotoxicity CTLA4,Fas-L,Perf,GNLY,NOS2A,and HmOX-1 were analyzed before the 1st and the 6th week instillation and 24 h after to assess fast(within 24 h)and prolonged changes resulting from ***:BCG instillation led to fast-increased expression of IL-1β,TNF-α,and IL-10 *** compared to relapsing patients,patients with no relapses within one year showed significantly lower expression of IL-1βat 1st week and less IFN-γ,HmOX-1,and GNLY at week ***-1 and GNLY were independent predictive biomarkers,and values above the cut-off≥110 and≥13.0‰mRNA,respectively,were considered prejudicial *** with two HmOX-1 and GNLY factors had highest(66.7%)relapsing ***:Assessing immunomodulators’expression in blood allows the establishment of predictive cut-off values and identification of probabilities for patients’relapses after BCG treatment.

High-Impedance Bus Differential Protection modeling in ATP/mODELS

This paper presents a modeling of a high-impedance bus differential protection logic using the ATP (Alternative Transients Program) mODELS language. The model is validated using ATP simulations on an electrical system consisting of a sectionalized bus arrangement with four transmission lines (TLs) and two autotransformers. The obtained results validate the model and present some of the advantages of using this type of bus protection, such as fast and safe operation, even when under adverse conditions such as current transformers (CTs) magnetic core saturation upon the occurrence of external faults.

The so-called geotechnology has been used in recent years in the planning, supervision and monitoring of various human activities, both locally and regionally, nationally and internationally, either it in the rural environment, as in urban áreas. This study, based on references and activities in the Geographic Information Analysis Laboratory of the Federal University of Pará (LAIG/UFPA), selects and presents the application of three tools for spatial analysis available in the Terraview [1] and Arcgis softwares, with the main objective being to demonstrate how they can be applied in geographical studies, starting with the spatial information gathered by remote or Field sensors, assisting the activities of researchers who stick to working with the planning and management of natural and human resources. Geotechnologies are important tools in the analysis of geographic space and its use tends to be increased with the advancement of new software and hardware collection, manipulation and generation of new specialized information. So we will do in this manuscript a brief discussion of three spatial analysis tools that can be used in rural areas with agricultural potential.

Influence of Agitation and Aeration on Single Cell Oil Production by Rhodotorula glutinis from Glycerol

In the present study, the yeast Rhodotorula glutinis has been assessed with the aim of producing microbial lipids from glycerol under different aeration conditions. For such a purpose, experiments were carried out in shake flasks, under different conditions of agitation (150 to 250 rpm) and aeration (2.5 to 5.0 of flask volume-to-medium volume ratio). Furthermore, their influence on fermentative parameters (lipid and cell concentration, biomass yield;lipid yield;and lipid volumetric productivity) has been investigated using a 22 full factorial design. The statistical analysis has revealed a strong influence of both variables on substrate consumption, lipid accumulation, cell growth and lipid productivity. As a whole, results suggest that higher aeration levels provide greater cell and lipid concentrations, and lipid volumetric productivity. The best results (4.5 g/L of lipids and QP = 0.95 g/L⋅day) were achieved at the highest aeration (5.0 flask volume-to-medium volume ratio) and agitation (250 rpm) levels. Their fatty acid profile showed that oleic acid was produced in greater quantity (53.5%), followed by linoleic acid (18.7%), palmitic acid (6.8%) and stearic acid (9.9%). The microbial oil presented viscosity of 39.3 cP at 50°C and free fatty acid content of 1.93% ± 0.08%. These are significant results and contribute to establishing operational conditions that maximize single-cell oil production from glycerol by Rhodotorula glutinis, i.e. an alternative source as renewable raw material for lipid-based biorefineries.

Physicochemical characterization of chia (Salvia hispanica) seed oil from Yucatán, méxico

A physicochemical characterization of oil from chia seeds was carried out. Proximate composition analysis showed that fat and fiber were the principal components in the raw chia flour. Physical characterization showed that chia oil has a relative density from 0.9241, a refraction index of 1.4761 and a color with more yellow than red units. Chemical characterization showed that chia oil registered an acidity index of 2.053 mg KOH/g oil, a saponification index of 222.66 mg KOH/g oil, a content of unsaponifiable matter of 0.087%, an Iodine index of 193.45 g I/100 g oil and a peroxide index of 17.5 meq O2/kg oil. Chia oil showed a higher content of α and β linolenic and palmitic acids. Chia oil is the vegetable source with the highest content of essential fatty acids.

Gmelina arborea Roxb. (melina), also known as white teak, is a tropical tree of great importance with multiple benefits. It is a timber species with renewal capacity and accelerated growth, highly durable and high quantity and quality pulp production, widely used in commercial programs of reforestation. In view of a possible increase of melina areas in the state of Tabasco mexico, information was needed in relation with the physical environment and natural factors in order to locate the most suitable areas under rainfed conditions. In this way, decision makers will be provided with a basic tool to direct and promote commercial plantations in the best suitable areas. The software Arc/View version 3.3 was used to process and analyze the information. The optimum agroclimatic requirements of melina were identified and each variable factor was matched with those found at ground level. A cartographic mapping was carried out to regionalize and locate the optimal and suboptimal zones. It was determined that there are 191,532 ha of high potential and 542,573 ha of medium potential production areas of melina in Tabasco, mexico under rainfed conditions.

ACTIVATION OF NATURAL KILLER CELLS WITH 3,6-BIS (2-PIPERIDINOETHOXY) ACRIDINE TRIHYDROCHLORIDE (CL 246, 738)

The mechanism of action of 3,6-bis(***-thoxy) acridine trihydrochloride (CL 246,738) in the potentiation of natural killer (NK) cells was investigated. Orally administered CL 246,738 consistently produced enhancement of NK cell activity in mice. Using anti-asialo Gm-1 (ASGm-1) antibody as an NK cell marker, it was determined that the compound increased the number of ASGm-1 positive cells in mice as indicated by immunofluorescence staining. The compound at concentrations of 0.02-0.2 μg/ml also induced NK cell activity in vitro. This effect was dependent upon the presence of macrophages and was inhibited by anti-IFN (alpha+beta), but not anti-lFN (beta) antibody. Taken together, it is postulated that the compound functions by stimulating macrophages to release IFN (alpha) which subsequently activates NK cells. As an effective stimulator of IFN and NK cells, CL 246,738 may prove clinically useful in the immunotherapy of certain types of malignancy.

Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub., commonly known as guar gum, is a legume of great industrial importance due to the multiple uses which can be given by galactomannans contained in the seed’s endosperm. Keeping in mind the acquiring relevance of this crop, it was considered of great importance to characterize the physical environment and the natural factors in order to locate the most suitable cultivation areas under rainfed conditions. The software Arc/View version 3.3 was used to process and analyze the information. The optimal agroclimatic requirements of guar gum were identified and each variable factor was matched with those found at ground level. A cartographic mapping was carried out to regionalize and locate the optimal and suboptimal zones. It was determined that in mexico there is a great potential for its cultivation since it was found the existence of 900 thousand hectares with high or optimal potential and more than 200 thousand hectares of medium and sub-optimal potential where crop can be well established under rainfed conditions.

The main objective of this work was to use reline deep eutectic solvent,containing Al(III)ions,for the electrochemical study of the nucleation and growth of aluminum onto a glassy carbon electrode at different temperatures and angular speeds(ω)of the working *** order to fulfill this,electrochemical and surface characterization techniques were *** was found that as temperature increased,the onset of the Al(III)DES reduction occurred at less negative potentials while the current peak of the voltammograms *** indicate that Al deposition thermodynamics and kinetics were ***,no anodic current was detected due to Al passivation by Al(OH)_(3)(s)andγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(s).Atω=0 r/min,the Al deposition chronoamperograms were analyzed by a theoretical model comprising Al 3D diffusion-controlled nucleation and growth and residual water ***,those recorded at different angular speeds were analyzed with a theoretical model where adsorption−desorption and diffusion-controlled nucleation−growth occurred *** deposits were characterized by SEm,EDX,XPS and ***ω=0 r/min,formation of well distributed nanoparticles((78.1±9.5)nm)was observed,while atω=900 r/min the deposit was formed by multiple 10μm diameter leaf-like flat microstructures,composed by Al,Al(OH)_(3)(s)andγ-A2O3(s).

Obesity has become a major global health challenge and it is a risk factor for the development of several comorbid conditions. Additionally, obesity has considerable economic consequences. Obesity is a multifactorial condition that arises from independent influences of genetic and social-environmental factors on food intake and physical activity. It has been difficult to establish clear associations between weight status and the intake of single foods or food groups. In most people, the predisposition to obesity has a polygenic basis, which means that obesity will develop if an individual has several polygenic variants that increase body weight. The FTO gene was the first GWAS-identified obesity-susceptibility gene and since then other polygenic variants that are associated with BmI and dietary intake have also been identified. However, this is still an active area of research as more polygenetic variants await discovery.
