Satellite imagery is used for many activities in different areas of the planet, including searching for alternative and sustainable sources to meet growing energy demand to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. One way to minimize these effects and expand energy parks is to encourage local generation through the use of renewable sources, such as solar energy, which is free and affordable in many regions of the planet, but that in Brazil is not yet a reality. In order to make an assertive decision when installing a solar power system, one needs to use tools that involve remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), and compile information and variables that are relevant to the subject of solar power generation and take into account the inherent geographic space. In this context, the main objective of this work is to develop a GIS model to identify areas with solar potential on a regional scale using active remote sensor images and previously available solar models. To validate the model, this study used an area on the island part of the city of Florianópolis in Santa Catarina State—Brazil, which suffers from repeated climatic events which cause long power cuts, as its distribution occurs by air all over the island. Through the “solar analist” function of ArcGIS and the matrix bases derived from the Digital Model of the Space Shuttle Topography Mission (SRTM) with 30 m of spatial resolution and the supervised classification of panthromatic and multispectral images fused from LandSat 8 satellite, were generates indicative maps of the areas with solar potential. The results pointed to a high solar potential in the all year and that could be better explored by public managers and also by individual consumers.

The fi eld of bionanotechnology has been rapidly growing during the last few years and we can now envision a controllable integration between biological and artificial matter,where new biomimetic structures with a wide range of chemical and physical properties will promote the development of a novel generation of medical *** this work we describe a collagen/carbon nanotube composite which has the potential to be used as a scaffold for tissue *** this biocomposite incorporates the advantageous properties of both collagen and carbon nanotubes,it has most of the characteristics that an ideal biomaterial requires in order to be used as an osteoinductive *** biocomposite is bioresorbable and biodegradable and has the desired mechanical rigidity while maintaining a three-dimensional(3-D)nanostructured *** stability and swelling were achieved under fluid environments by varying the amount of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)incorporated into the *** variations can dictate the degree of interaction between fibroblastic cells and the ***-of-concept was shown by performing an in vitro induced mineralization of hydroxylapatite crystals under physiological ***,the ability to attach biofunctional groups to the CNT walls can open a new road for tissue regeneration since the combination of CNTs with specific growth factors or cellular ligands can create an environment capable of signaling and infl uencing specifi c cell *** observations suggest that collagen/carbon nanotube biocomposites will have important uses in a wide range of biotechnological areas.

We report here the activated carbon and cobalt hexacyanoferrate composite,which is applied as the electrode materials in symmetric supercapacitors containing a 1.0 m Na_(2)SO_(4) aqueous *** novel material combines high specific surface area and electrochemical stability of activated carbon with the redox properties of cobalt hexacyanoferrate,resulting in maximum specific capacitance of 329 F g^(-1) with large voltage working window of 2.0 *** studies indicated that cobalt hexacyanoferrate introduces important pseudocapacitive properties accounting for the overall charge-storage process,especially when Imetric currents(e.g.,0.05 A g^(-1))and up to 1.0 V,the presence of cobalt hexacyanoferrate improves the specific energy for more than 300%.In addition,to better understanding the energy storage process we also provided a careful investigation of the electrode materials under dynamic polarization conditions using the in situ Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron light Xray diffraction *** complementary findings were obtained in these *** believe that this novel electrode material is promising for applications regarding the energy-storage process in pseudocapacitors with long lifespan properties.

氨基酸盐是一种很具潜力的CO2捕集分离溶剂,相对于乙醇胺等有机胺类吸收剂,具有低挥发性、抗氧化降解等优点。文中采用停流光谱–pH指示剂技术研究氨基乙酸与CO2的反应行为,表明其中性形式的反应活性远低于碱性形式。m062X/6-31G(2df,p)级别的密度泛函理论的计算表明氨基乙酸中性形式与CO2的反应能垒较高,其两性离子产物的热力学不稳定性也导致反应活性降低。

Air pollution has become a major problem in urban areas due to increasing industrialization and *** this study ambient concentrations of Pm1 and metal concentrations as well as source contributions were identified and quantified by using Positive matrix Factorization(PmF)in receptor modeling in the metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre,*** Pm1 samples were collected on PTFE filters from December 2012 to December 2014 in two sampling *** ion and trace element concentrations were *** average concentrations were 12.8 and 15.2μg/m^(3) for Canoas and Sapucaia do Sul sites,*** ion contributions of Pm1 were secondary pollutants such as sulfate and *** elements,especially Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,and Ni also made important contributions which are directly associated with anthropogenic *** results show significantly higher levels in winter than in *** of the Pm1 and the analyzed Pm species and elements originated from anthropogenic sources,especially road traffic,combustion processes and industrial activities,which are grouped in 7 major contributing sources.A back-trajectory analysis showed that the long-range transport of pollutants was not relevant in relation to the contribution to Pm1 and metal *** work highlights the importance of urban planning to reduce human health exposure to traffic and industrial emissions,combined with awareness-raising actions for citizens concerning the impact of indoor sources.

Crataeva tapia bark lectin was evaluated for its antitumor activity against sarcoma 180 in Swiss albino *** anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties were investigated in models of inflammation and *** anti-inflammatory assay was induced by carrageenan induced peritonitis and the analgesic activity was induced by acetic acid-induced writhing *** lectin presents low toxicity with a LD50 of 2,500 mg/kg body weight and significant antitumor activity causing inhibition of tumor *** lectin also promoted significant reduction(35.4%)in the number of neutrophil migration induced by *** its analgesic property,the lectin inhibits abdominal contractions induced by acetic *** current results revealed a lectin with significant antitumoral,anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive *** investigations to unveil the exact mechanisms are needed.

Sacadura Cabral and the Dawn of Portuguese Aviation

Sacadura Cabral was one of the two Portuguese navigators that crossed by air the South Atlantic in the beginning of the 20th century. From 1901 to 1915 Sacadura was at mozambique and Angola where he developed geodetic and geographical missions of the greatest importance for Portuguese interest at Africa. With the Great World War requirements as a Navy Officer with 34 years old he decided to serve Portugal at the Aviation. In 1915 he went to France and obtained its pilot license. In 1916 Sacadura returned to Portugal and begun its instructor pilot career. He developed the “path corrector” which he created to compensate the drift caused by wind. In 1922 Sacadura made the First Air cross from Europe to South Atlantic. In 1923 he proposes himself to make an attempt to the First Air Circumnavigation Journey. He developed all its possible efforts to initiate this journey in march of 1924;however some delays had forced him to postpone the journey. Sacadura received important official medals and prizes, including the PhD Honoris Causa from the Universities of Lisbon and Oporto. In 1924 he died before he could carry out its Circumnavigation Air Journey.
