A Hybrid Model for Improving Software Cost Estimation in Global Software Development

Accurate software cost estimation in Global Software Development(GSD)remains challenging due to reliance on historical data and expert *** models,such as the Constructive Cost Model(COCOMO II),rely heavily on historical and accurate *** addition,expert judgment is required to set many input parameters,which can introduce subjectivity and variability in the estimation ***,there is a need to improve the current GSD models to mitigate reliance on historical data,subjectivity in expert judgment,inadequate consideration of GSD-based cost drivers and limited integration of modern technologies with cost *** study introduces a novel hybrid model that synergizes the COCOMO II with Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)to address these *** proposed hybrid model integrates additional GSD-based cost drivers identified through a systematic literature review and further vetted by industry *** article compares the effectiveness of the proposedmodelwith state-of-the-artmachine learning-basedmodels for software cost *** the NASA 93 dataset by adopting twenty-six GSD-based cost drivers reveals that our hybrid model achieves superior accuracy,outperforming existing *** findings indicate the potential of combining COCOMO II,ANN,and additional GSD-based cost drivers to transform cost estimation in GSD.

Improved Test Case Selection Algorithm to Reduce Time in Regression Testing

Regression testing(RT)is an essential but an expensive activity in software *** confirms that new faults/errors will not have occurred in the modified *** efficiency can be improved through an effective technique of selected only modified test cases that appropriate to the modifications within the given time ***,several test case selection approaches have been introduced,but either these techniques were not sufficient according to the requirements of software tester experts or they are ineffective and cannot be used for available test suite specifications and *** address these limitations,we recommend an improved and efficient test case selection(TCS)algorithm for *** proposed technique decreases the execution time and redundancy of the duplicate test cases(TC)and detects onlymodified changes that appropriate to themodifications in test *** reduce execution time for TCS,evaluation results of our proposed approach are established on fault detection,redundancy and already executed test *** indicate that proposed technique decreases the inclusive testing time of TCS to execute modified test cases by,on average related to a method of Hybrid Whale Algorithm(HWOA),which is a progressive TCS approach in regression testing for a single product.

Software testing is an important and cost intensive activity in software *** major contribution in cost is due to test case ***-based testing is an approach in which test cases are derivative from requirements without considering the implementation’s internal ***-based testing includes functional and nonfunctional *** objective of this study is to explore the approaches that generate test cases from requirements.A systematic literature review based on two research questions and extensive quality assessment criteria includes *** study identies 30 primary studies from 410 studies spanned from 2000 to *** review’s nding shows that 53%of journal papers,42%of conference papers,and 5%of book chapters’address requirementsbased *** of the studies use UML,activity,and use case diagrams for test case generation from *** of the signicant lessons learned is that most software testing errors are traced back to errors in natural language requirements.A substantial amount of work focuses on UML diagrams for test case generations,which cannot capture all the system’s developed ***,there is a lack of UML-based models that can generate test cases from natural language requirements by rening them in *** criteria indicate how efciently the testing has been performed 12.37%of studies use requirements coverage,20%of studies cover path coverage,and 17%study basic coverage.

Learner Autonomy via Self-Assessment in Consecutive Interpreting for Novice Learners in a Non-Interpreting Environment

This paper discusses the implementation of self-assessment in consecutive interpreting among novice learners in a non-interpreting environment specifically referring to the interpreting courses offered at USM （Universiti Sains Malaysia）, being the only bachelor＇s degree programme in Translation and Interpreting in Malaysia, and the learners＇ perception on this mode of assessment with the goal of fostering learner autonomy among them. Such implementation was made possible with the shift from analogue technology to digital technology, the deployment of e-learning in the course instruction, and the shift from teacher-centred learning approach to student-centred learning approach in line with the university＇s APEX （Accelerated Programme for Excellence） transformation plan.
