Aquatic reservoirs remain the ultimate sink of chemical pollutants emanating from anthropogenic activities such as agriculture, mining and industry. Freshwater biota undoubtedly is at risk from the adverse effects of these water pollutants and there is therefore, a need to monitor effects of these chemical pollutants in order to safeguard the health of aquatic biota. We investigated the oxidative stress effects of chlorpyrifos and lead on the freshwater snail Helisoma duryi to assess the potential of using this enzyme system as a biondicator of exposure to environmental pollutants. Groups of snails were exposed to 5 ppb lead acetate and 25 ppb chlorpyrifos for 7 days after which half of the snails were sacrificed and the other half were allowed to recover in clean water and sacrificed after another 7 days. Post mitochondrial fractions were used to measure the activities of the following antioxidant enzymes: superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase and diphosphotriphosphodiaphorase. Both pollutants enhanced the activities of all the antioxidant enzymes suggesting a defensive mechanism by the snail to combat the oxidative stress due to the organophosphate chlopryrifos and metal pollutant lead. There was a significant recovery of the antioxidant defense system of the snails allowed to recover in clean water shown by the reduced alteration of the antioxidant enzyme activities of the snails allowed to recover for 7 days. This suggests the need to minimize exposure of aquatic biota to chemical pollutants and remediate the polluted water reservoirs in order to safeguard the health of aquatic life.

Bitcoin Candlestick Prediction with Deep Neural Networks Based on Real Time Data

Currently,Bitcoin is the world’s most popular *** price of Bitcoin is extremely volatile,which can be described as high-benefit and *** minimize the risk involved,a means of more accurately predicting the Bitcoin price is *** of the existing studies of Bitcoin prediction are based on historical(i.e.,benchmark)data,without considering the real-time(i.e.,live)*** mitigate the issue of price volatility and achieve more precise outcomes,this study suggests using historical and real-time data to predict the Bitcoin candlestick—or open,high,low,and close(OHLC)—*** a better prediction model,the present study proposes time series-based deep learning *** particular,two deep learning algorithms were applied,namely,long short-term memory(LSTM)and gated recurrent unit(GRU).Using real-time data,the Bitcoin candlesticks were predicted for three intervals:the next 4 h,the next 12 h,and the next 24 *** results showed that the best-performing model was the LSTM-based model with the 4-h *** particular,this model achieved a stellar performance with a mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)of 0.63,a root mean square error(RMSE)of 0.0009,a mean square error(MSE)of 9e-07,a mean absolute error(MAE)of 0.0005,and an R-squared coefficient(R2)of *** these results,the proposed prediction model has demonstrated its efficiency over the models proposed in previous *** findings of this study have considerable implications in the business field,as the proposed model can assist investors and traders in precisely identifying Bitcoin sales and buying opportunities.

Efficacy of <i>Moringa oleifera</i>Leaf Supplementation for Enhanced Growth Performance, Haematology and Serum Biochemistry of Rabbits

The present work aimed to define the antioxidant effect of addition graded levels (0 mg (T0), 500 mg (T1), 1000 mg (T2) /Kg diet) of dried M. oleifera leaves (DMOL) during the experimental period for 56 days duration on the productive, hematology and some serum biochemical parameters of fifty-one growing rabbits. The results indicated that the DMOL contents of chlorophyll a, b, vitamin c, vitamin E, total flavonoids, total polyphenols, condensed tannins and phytic acid were (1.09 mg/g DW), (0.34 mg/g DW), (0.95 mg/g), (0.75 mg/g), (5.06 mg/g), (2.32%), (1.72%) and (0.98%), respectively. The result of the final live weight, average daily weight gain (ADWG) and average daily dry matter intake increased significantly with increasing levels of DMOL in diets. Also, the improvement in feed conversion ratio (FCR) was significantly high among the two levels of (DMOL). The serum glucose and urea nitrogen levels significantly decreased as DMOL levels increased. Moreover, there were a significant increase (P P P p > 0.05) different among treatments. On the contrary, significantly (P P P > 0.05) to the values of group T1. There was a significant (P < 0.05) effect of DMOL supplementation on the percent of carcass, liver and total edible parts of rabbits across treatments, whereas, treatments T2 and T1 recorded better results than T0. Under the condition of the present study, the results suggest that DMOL supplementation up to 1000 g/Kg diet might improve performance, bacterial community, antioxidant, biochemical parameters and blood constituents of rabbits.

Acute Impact of Artificial Sweetener, Aspartame on Blood Parameter in Mice

Aspartame (APM) or L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester, a common artificial non-saccharide sweetener used as a sugar substitute in many foods and beverages, has shown some side effects on consumers. The objective of the present study is to study the acute impact of various doses of daily ingestion of APM on blood parameters of mice. Sixty healthy 3 months old male mice raised in the departmental animal house were divided into five groups i.e. the control were fed normal diet and tap water, while other 4 groups (12 each) were daily orally fed with 1 mL of either 40, 500, 1000 or 1500 mg/Kg b wt, dissolved in distilled water using gavages for consecutive 5 weeks. Fresh blood samples collected directly from the heart at dissection were subjected to complete blood counting (CBC) using automated blood analyzer (Cell DYN-1700) in addition to manual differential Leucocytes (WBC) counting. There has been a significant increase (p ≤ 0.01) in WBC counts starting from the lowest dose (40 mg/Kg·b·wt);significant decrease (p ≤ 0.01) in both Hemoglobin percentages (Hb%) and in Lymphocyte percentages (p ≤ 0.004) in comparison with control. It is concluded that the ingestion of aspartame using the above doses has acute impact and is not dose-dependent on blood parameters which could exert further, on the long run, health risks on to other tissues of consumers.

A non-saccharide artificial sweetener, aspartame (L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester) is used worldwide as a sugar substitute in many foods and beverages. The objective of this work was to clarify the acute impact of various doses of daily ingestion of Aspartame at the cellular level of the liver tissues in mice. Sixty adult male mice were divided into five groups including control fed normal diet and tap water, while other 4 groups (12 each) were daily fed orally with 1 mL of either 40, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg/Kg ***. APM dissolved in distilled water using gavages for consecutive 5 weeks. Liver samples fixed in 10% formalin were cut as 5 μm using Leica microtome and the sections were stained with both routine Heamatoxylene and Eosin (H & E) as well as Transmission electron Microscope (TEM). Histological results showed cellular changes in the hepatic tissues which were proportional with the increased doses. The hepatocytes had developed fatty droplets in the cytoplasm of almost all cells, loss of nuclei, necrosis detectable at LM level. Lymphatic nodules were also generated around the triads and the central hepatic veins as well as intracellular gaps with higher doses. The TEM results demonstrated degradation of mitochondria indicating the direct acute effects of the aspartame on hepatic tissues which all were proportional with the increased doses. It is concluded that the daily ingestion of aspartame, even at lower doses, has acute effects and is dose dependant on hepatic cells which could exert further risks onto other tissues of consumers on the long run.

Factors Affecting Adherence to Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy among Patients Attending Public Healthcare Facility

The research focused on factors associated with poor adherence to HAART （highly active antiretroviral therapy） among HIV/AIDS. A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted using a standardized questionnaire and face-to-face exit interviews to collect data. Pill-counts were performed and computed adherence rate of ≥ 95% was considered acceptable. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Univariate factors associated with poor dherence to HAART were assessed with ANOVA （analysis of variance） and logistic regression model excluded confounders determining independent predictors of poor adherence. A P ≤ 0.05 was statistical significant. Of 102 HIV-infected on HAART for 24.68 ± 20.5 months, 83.3% were females and 16.7% males. The mean age （± SD） was 35.09 ± 9.3 years. Univariate factors associated with poor adherence to HAART were： CD4 count 〉 350 cells/mm3 0（2 = 46; P = 0.05）, age 〉 35 years 0（2 = 28.75; P = 0.011）, primary educational background （χ2 = 9.18; P = 0.027）, HAART regimen 1A-TDF （χ2 = 14.37; P = 0.003）, and 〉 4 combined tablets （χ2 = 11.87; P = 0.001）. There was a linear correlation between age and primary educational background （r = 0.538; P 〈 0.001）. After adjusting for univariate confounders, primary educational background （P = 0.020） and 〉 4 combined tablets （P = 0.026） were identified as independent predictors of poor adherence to HAART. Although there is an increase number of HIV-infected receiving HAART, these findings have shown that many of these will not adhere to their treatment once they improve clinically. This could be due to lack of education and complexity of combined ARVs with other drugs.

Methylene Blue Dye Adsorption onto Polyoxometalate Ionic Liquid Supported on Bentonite: Kinetic, Equilibrium and Thermodynamic Studies

The potential of polyoxometalate ionic liquid POM-IL supported on low-cost and available eco-friendly Saudi raw bentonite in the adsorption of MB cationic dye was investigated. For this purpose, TOAx[α-XW11O39]@Bentonite (X = Si, P;TOA = TetraOctylAmmonium), namely SWB and PWB were prepared and characterized by IR, XRD, XRF, SEM, TEM and BET. Batch adsorption experiments showed that SWB and PWB have higher adsorption capacity than the raw bentonite with an enhancement of about 37% for SWB. The adsorption capacities of both SWB and PWB improved with increasing contact time and temperature and decreased with higher salt concentration in solution. The pH is shown to have insignificant effect on the adsorption of MB onto SWB and PWB. This result is quite meaningful in the adsorption process application since it makes pH complicated adjustment of the discharged contaminated water before treatment unnecessary. The Kinetic study expressed that the pseudo-second-order model described the adsorption process better than the pseudo first order. The experimental isotherm data were found to fit the Langmuir model compared to the Freundlich model with a maximum adsorption capacity 277.78 mg/g and 113.6 for PWB and SWB respectively. The
