Anti-tumor effects and cellular mechanisms of Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract against Ehrlich solid tumor in mice

Objective:To assess the anti-tumor effects of Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract(PAME)compared with cyclophosphamide against Ehrlich solid tumors in ***:Swiss albino mice(n=40)were divided into five groups:normal control mice,mice with Ehrlich solid tumors treated with normal saline,mice with Ehrlich solid tumors treated with cyclophosphamide intraperitoneally once a day for 14 d,or 50mg/kg or 100 mg/kg PAME orally once a day for 14 *** growth inhibition,body weight,tumor markers,liver and kidney enzymes,oxidative stress markers,antioxidant enzymes,tumor necrosis factor-alpha level(TNF-α),and apoptosis-regulatory gene expression were ***:Treatment of mice bearing Ehrlich solid tumors with PAME at 50 and 100 mg/kg orally significantly decreased tumor volume,body weight,tumor markers,liver and kidney enzymes,oxidative stress markers and TNF-αlevel in comparison with mice with Ehrlich solid tumors receiving normal *** PAME at 50 and 100 mg/kg/day significantly elevated the level of antioxidant enzymes(P<0.05).Conclusions:Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract has potent antitumor activity in ***,the extract might be considered as an alternative anticancer agent against tumors,however,additional studies especially in the clinical setting are required to confirm this finding.

The Internet of Things(IoT)is where almost anything can be controlled and managed remotely by means of *** the IoT evolution led to quality of life enhancement,many of its devices are *** lack of robust key management systems,efficient identity authentication,low fault tolerance,and many other issues lead to IoT devices being easily targeted by *** this paper we propose a new authentication protocol called Authenblue that improve the authentication process of IoT devices and Coordinators of Personal Area Network(CPANs)in an Industrial IoT(IIoT)*** study proposed Authenblue protocol as a new Blockchainbased authentication *** enhance the authentication process and make it more secure,Authenblue modified the way of generating IIoT identifiers and the shared secret keys used by the IIoT devices to raise the efficiency of the authentication *** enhance the authentication protocol that other models rely on by enhancing the approach used to generate the User Identifier(UI).The UI values changed from being static values,sensors MAC addresses,to be generated values in the inception *** approach makes the process of renewing the sensor keys more secure by renewing their UI values instead of changing the secret *** this study,Authenblue has been simulated in the Network Simulator 3(NS3).Simulation results show an improved performance compared to the related work.

Zinc–bromine rechargeable batteries(ZBRBs)are one of the most powerful candidates for next-generation energy storage due to their potentially lower material cost,deep discharge capability,non-flammable electrolytes,relatively long lifetime and good ***,many opportunities remain to improve the efficiency and stability of these batteries for long-life ***,we discuss the device configurations,working mechanisms and performance evaluation of *** non-flow(static)and flow-type cells are highlighted in detail in this *** fundamental electrochemical aspects,including the key challenges and promising solutions,are discussed,with particular attention paid to zinc and bromine half-cells,as their performance plays a critical role in determining the electrochemical performance of the battery *** following sections examine the key performance metrics of ZBRBs and assessment methods using various ex situ and in situ/operando *** review concludes with insights into future developments and prospects for high-performance ZBRBs.

Instructors' Debate over Error Feedback on Chinese International Students' Academic Writings in a ***

As the number of Chinese international students studying in the U.S. has grown dramatically in recent years, there has been increasing attention to how English Composition instructors approach these students＇ writings. Using a dialogue format representing ＂narratives of classroom life＂（Nelson, 2011a）, this paper demonstrates two polemic views held by teachers and researchers： one view sees students＇ language use as problematic as it differs from the expected standards required for academic success in the U.S., while the other calls for more tolerance of the students＇ linguistic and cultural diversity and accordingly, more strategic ways to give ＂error feedback.＂ By opening up the debate, the paper explores possibilities for teachers in the U.S. and around the world to help their students address the gap between academic expectations, and what they are currently capable of.

Diabetic patients and Ramadan fasting:how they live it?

Objective:To quantify the prevalence of fasting during Ramadan month among diabetic patients and to observe the factors which were deferring between fasting and non-fasting diabetic ***:A cross-sectional study was carried out at primary health care *** diabetic patients were interviewed with a structured data form by trained research ***’age,gender,marital status,weight and height,diabetes type,medication,compliance,follow up,self monitoring and any complication faced during the fasting were *** risk factors including smoking habit,hypertension,dyslipidemia and pre-existing cardiovascular diseases were also ***:Out of 920 diabetic patients,95%were suffering from DM type *** patients who fasted the whole month of Ramadan were 84%.The proportion of type 1 and type 2 was 71%and 85%*** 63%of DM type 2 patients were treated with oral hypoglycemic agents(OHAs) alone and 2.4%with combination of OHAs and *** 42%of DM type 1 and 36%of DM type 2 patients has visited their physicians prior to their fast for *** significant differing factors which make non-fasting in diabetic patients,were medication(insulin),complications,hyperglycemia,retinopathy, neuropathy,nephropathy and vascular ***:This study has identified the factors in diabetic patients,were being compliant with medication,oral treatments and family support which lead to more likely to fast in Ramadan *** which reduce fasting by these patients were acute and chronic complications,time since diagnosis and insulin *** would be acceptable for patients who are compliant with their diet and medication.

Wish You Were Here： A Psychological Analysis Using Atkinson-Shiffrin Memory Mode

Graham Swift＇s last novel Wish You Were Here carries many sad memories that threaten Jack＇s present life and changes its direction. Vera＇s, the dog＇s and Tom＇s death, all have their far-reaching effects in Jack＇s life. Jack is a man who feels unable to assert himself. The novel is the slow, repetitive unfolding of Jack＇s life leading up to this point. It shows the instability of truth and the complexity of memory are tiresome, and may stand in the way of what is crucial. Here Swift applies a node that comfortably portrays memory on the move---a voice that accomplishes in catching the second thoughts and equivocations. The first-person narration tries to either suppress for the reason of clarity or indulges at the cost of clarity. The paper will shed light on the effect of the memories of one＇s life depending on the Atkinson-Shiffrin model. The Atkinson-Shiffrin model is a multi-store model that asserts that human memory has three separate components.

Promise and pitfalls of new viral biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma risk prediction in patients with chronic hepatitis B

Chronic hepatitis B virus(CHB)infection-estimated to affect 290 million individuals-remains the leading global cause of liver-related mortality and a risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)[1].Importantly,56% of liver cancers worldwide were attributable to CHB based on GLOBOCAN estimates from 2012[2].Current first-line therapies for CHB reduce but do not eliminate the risk of HCC,and for those fortunate enough to experience clearance of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),either spontaneous or on-treatment,the risk of HCC drops further but again persists[3,4].Additionally,unlike other etiologies of chronic liver disease,HCC develops in the absence of advanced fibrosis in up to 30% of HBsAg-positive patients[5].Taken together,these realities dictate that surveillance for HCC is paramount in nearly all circumstances for patients with CHB.

Pesticide-Induced Alterations of Esterase and Antioxidant Enzymes of Aquatic Organisms Oreochromis mossambicus and Xenopus laevis

Pesticides are extensively utilized in modern farming to control pests and weeds, thereby ensuring high quality and quantity of crops. Aerial drifts and runoffs after rain transport these agrochemicals to aquatic bodies, where they adversely affect aquatic organisms. We carried out a study to assess the effects of carbaryl and dimethoate on esterase and antioxidant enzyme activities of tadpoles, adult frogs and juvenile fish. These organisms were exposed to sublethal contraptions of 2.9 ppm carbaryl and 4.8 ppm dimethoate for 96 hours. After the exposure period, the fish and frogs were sacrificed and post-mitochondrial fractions were prepared for enzymatic analysis. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE), carboxylesterase (CbE), superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase were measured. Carbaryl and dimethoate inhibited the activities of acetylcholinesterase, carboxylesterase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in juvenile fish, tadpoles and adult frogs. Inhibition of SOD, CAT and GPx suggests that the two pesticides caused oxidative stress in the aquatic organisms, while inhibition of AChE and CbE affected the normal transmission of nerve impulses. The results indicate that the two pesticides affect the well-being of the studied aquatic organisms.
