The nanotechnology revolution affected positively Architecture. Using nanotechnology is considered one of the most successful modern methods to achieve sustainable buildings with high functional efficiency. The discipline is Nano architecture, which uses Nanomaterials, products, or even Nano-shapes in the treatment of structure and construction. Despite the economic and urban advantages of using nanotechnology in the field of architecture and urbanism, we note that using nanotechnology is limited to some buildings uses in the city centers until now such as Administrative, commercial, educational, health, and recreational buildings or residential buildings. In spite of that, we found that nanotechnology was not used in priority buildings as “nuclear power plants” as it is considered one of the most eligible buildings to rely on nanotechnology to achieve safety, security, and functional efficiency requirements which have a great impact on advancing the movement of urban development. From this standpoint, the research recommends the necessity of following a methodology to activate the establishment of nuclear power plants with such technology to preserve the safety of construction, reduce energy consumption, conserve economic resources and reduce pollution. The research is exposed to highlight a set of case studies that used such an effective technique and conclude a group of criteria that are recommended to be followed in the implementation and construction of the Dabaa plant in Egypt to achieve a sustainable nuclear power plant. Retinal degeneration is a major contributor to visual dysfunction *** it comprises several eye diseases,loss of retinal pigment epithelial(RPE)and photoreceptor cells are the major contributors to their *** therapies included diverse treatments,such as provision of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor and many survival and trophic factors that,in some cases,slow down the progression of the degeneration,but do not effectively prevent *** finding of stem cells(SC)in the eye has led to the proposal of cell replacement strategies for retina *** using different types of SC,such as retinal progenitor cells(RPCs),embryonic SC,pluripotent SCs(PSCs),induced PSCs(iPSCs),and mesenchymal stromal cells,capable of self-renewal and of differentiating into multiple cell types,have gained ample *** preclinical studies have assessed transplantation of SC in animal models,with encouraging *** aim of this work is to revise the different preclinical and clinical approaches,analyzing the SC type used,their efficacy,safety,cell attachment and integration,absence of tumor formation and immunorejection,in order to establish which were the most relevant and *** addition,we examine the questions and concerns still open in the *** data demonstrate the existence of two main approaches,aimed at replacing either RPE cells or *** evidence suggests that RPCs and iPSC are the best candidates,presenting no ethical concerns and a low risk of *** trials have already supported the safety and efficacy of SC *** concerns are pending,such as the risk of tumor formation,lack of attachment or integration of transplanted cells into host retinas,immunorejection,cell death,and also ***,the amazing progress in the field in the last few years makes it possible to envisage safe and effective treatments to restore vision loss in a near future.

AIM:To investigate the possible association between meat intake,cigarette smoking and N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) genetic polymorphisms on colorectal cancer (CRC) ***:Patients with CRC were matched for gender and age to healthy *** intake and cigarette smoking were assessed using a specific frequency *** was extracted from peripheral blood and the genotypes of the polymorphism were assessed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length *** NAT2 alleles were studied (WT,M1,M2,M3 and M4) using specific digestion ***:A total of 147 patients with colorectal cancer (76 women and 90 men with colon cancer) and 212 controls were *** mean age of the two groups was 62 *** than half the subjects (59.8% in the case group and 51.9% in the control group) were NAT2 slow *** odds ratio for colorectal cancer was 1.38 (95% CI:0.90-2.12) in slow *** the number of women was small (n=76 in the case group),the cancer risk was found to be lower in intermediate (W/Mx) acetylators [odds ratio (OR):0.55,95% confidence interval (95% CI):0.29-1.02].This difference was not observed in men (OR:0.56,95% CI:0.16-2.00).Among NAT2 fast acetylators (W/W or W/Mx),meat consumption more than 3 times a week increased the risk of colorectal cancer (OR:2.05,95% CI:1.01-4.16).In contrast,cigarette smoking increased the risk of CRC among slow acetylators (OR:1.97,95% CI:1.02-3.79).CONCLUSION:The risk of CRC was higher among fast acetylators who reported a higher meat *** NAT2 acetylation was associated with an increased risk of CRC.

Herbivore species sharing a host plant often compete. In this study, we show that host plant-mediated interaction between two insect herbivores-a generalist and a specialist-results in a sex ratio shift of the specialist＇s offspring. We studied demographic parameters of the specialist Tupiocoris notatus（Hemiptera： Miridae）when co-infesting the host plant Nicotiana attenuata（Solanaceae） with the generalist leafhopper Empoasca sp.（Hemiptera： Cicadellidae）. We show that the usually female-biased sex ratio of T. notatus shifts toward a higher male proportion in the offspring on plants coinfested by Empoasca sp. This sex ratio change did not occur after oviposition, nor is it due differential mortality of female and male nymphs. Based on pyrosequencing and PCR of bacterial 16 S rRNA amplicons, we concluded that sex ratio shifts were unlikely to be due to infection with Wolbachia or other known sex ratio-distorting endosymbionts. Finally, we used transgenic lines of *** to evaluate if the sex ratio shift could be mediated by changes in general or specialized host plant metabolites. We found that the sex ratio shift occurred on plants deficient in two cytokinin receptors（irCHK2/3）.Thus, cytokinin-regulated traits can alter the offspring sex ratio of the specialist ***.

Metal removal studied by a laboratory scale immobilized microalgal reactor

A laboratory scale algal column reactor packed with 75 ml alginate algal beads was used to treat 30 mg/L Cu and Ni with a HRT of 30 minutes. At the end of loading 4L metal solution, over 97% of Cu and 91% of Ni were removed from the wastewater with a final residual of 1.76 mg/L Cu and 8.8 mg/L Ni. Up flow was preferred to down flow in maintaining a constant flow rate and hence HRT. Amount of metal recovered during regeneration depended on concentration and nature of regenerant used. Dilute acid was a better regenerant than calcium in terms of metal recovered (90%) and volume needed for regeneration. The consistency in the metal removal performance by the algal column over 10 metal treatment and regeneration cycles suggested that the algal beads can treat Cu or Ni bearing wastewater over 400 times its own volume.

Reproductive and life history patterns in reptiles are tightly related to the environmental conditions,so male reproductive cycles have been historically characterized as continuous,for tropical lizards,or seasonal,for temperate ***,males of Liolaemus and Phymaturus lizards(Liolaemidae),from cold temperate climates of high altitudes or latitudes in Argentina and Chile,have developed a variety of reproductive cycles to coordinate with the short female reproductive season and to deal with the low frequency of reproductive females in the *** gonadal histology and morphological analysis,we describe the male reproductive biology,fat storage and sexual dimorphism of the viviparous lizards Liolaemus sarmientoi and Liolaemus magellanicus that inhabit an austral grass steppe at 51°S,in the southern limit of the American *** of *** and *** are reproductively available during the entire activity season of approximately 5 *** addition,males of both species exhibit greater body sizes than females in morphological variables relevant in sexual ***,females of both species exhibit larger inter-limb length than conspecific males,which suggests fecundity selection to increase space for a larger litter *** continuous sperm production throughout the activity season allows these liolaemids to mate at any time when females ovulate,representing a selective advantage to deal with the short activity season and the adversities of the cold environment they inhabit.

With the aim of studying the effect of water dynamics on the properties of biological systems, in this paper, we present a quasi-elastic neutron scattering study on three different types of living cells, differing both in their morphological and tumor properties. The measured scattering signal, which essentially originates from hydrogen atoms present in the investigated systems, has been analyzed using a global fitting strategy using an optimized theoretical model that considers various classes of hydrogen atoms and allows disentangling diffusive and rotational motions. The approach has been carefully validated by checking the reliability of the calculation of parameters and their 99% confidence intervals. We demonstrate that quasi-elastic neutron scattering is a suitable experimental technique to characterize the dynamics of intracellular water in the angstrom/picosecond space/time scale and to investigate the effect of water dynamics on cellular biodiversity.
