Glycerol dehydration to acrolein over a series of supported silicotungstic acid catalysts(SiWx‐Al/Zry)was *** results showed that the final catalyst had high thermal stability,a large pore diameter,strong Lewis acidic sites,and a large specific surface area.X‐ray photoelectron survey spectra clearly showed peaks attributable to W(W4f=35.8eV),Al2O3(Al2p=74.9eV),and ZrO2(Zr3d=182.8eV).The highest acrolein selectivity achieved was87.3%at97%glycerol conversion over the SiW20‐Al/*** prepared catalysts were highly active and selective for acrolein formation even after40h because of the presence of high concentrations of Lewis acidic sites,which significantly reduced the amount of coke on the catalyst *** surface methodology optimization showed that87.7%acrolein selectivity at97.0%glycerol conversion could be obtained under the following optimal reaction conditions:0.5wt%catalyst,reaction temperature300°C,and feed glycerol concentration10wt%.Evaluation of a mass‐transfer‐limited regime showed the absence of internal and external diffusions over pellets of diameter dPhow that glycerol dehydration over a strong Lewis acid catalyst is a promising method for acrolein production.

Objective: To investigate the role of toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) in inflammatory activity of macrophage infected with the recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guerin(rBCG). Methods: Mouse macrophage cell line J774 A.1 was infected with Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guerin(BCG) and rBCG cultures for 48 h in the presence or absence of 10 μg/mL of TLR2 inhibitor. Untreated macrophages were used as a negative control while lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages were used as a positive control. The ability of the macrophage to engulf the BCG and rBCG in the absence or presence of TLR2 inhibitor was assessed using a phagocytic assay, while the production of inflammatory cytokines and nitric oxide by the infected macrophages was evaluated using ELISA and Griess reagent method, while the expression of the inducible nitric oxide synthase was determined using Western blot analysis. Results: The results showed that blocking TLR2 function reduced the phagocytic activity, nitric oxide production and proinflammatory cytokine secretion such as TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-12 p40 as well as inducible nitric oxide synthase expression in the infected macrophages. These data showed the importance of TLR2 in the activation of macrophages following BCG and r BCG infections. Conclusions: Through exploring the immunological mechanism which underlies the protection conferred by the candidate vaccine, this study will improve our understanding of the vaccine candidate's mechanism to protect the host from malaria infection.

Metal containing ZSM-5 can produce higher hydrocarbons in methane oxidation. Many researchers have studied the applicability of hZSM-5 and modify ZSM-5 for methane conversion to liquid hydrocarbons, but their research results still lead to low conversion, low selectivity and low heat resistance. The modified hZSM-5, by loading with tungsten （W）, could enhance its heat resistant performance, and the high reaction temperature （800 ℃） did not lead to a loss of the W component by sublimation. The loading of hZSM-5 with tungsten and copper （Cu） resulted in an increment in the methane conversion as well as CO2 and C5＋ selectivities. In contrast, CO, C2-3 and h2O selectivities were reduced. The process of converting methane to liquid hydrocarbons （C5＋） was dependent on the metal surface area and the acidity of the zeolite. high methane conversion and C5＋ selectivity, and low h20 selectivity are obtained over W/3.0Cu/hZSM.

Improved Performance of W/hZSM-5 Catalysts for Dehydroaromatization of Methane

The dehydroaramatization of methane over W-supported ZSM-5 with varying degrees of Li+ ion-exchanged catalysts was studied with and without oxygen at 1073 K and atmospheric pressure. Catalyst activity and stability were found to be influenced by the catalyst acidity related to Bronsted acid sites and by the presence of oxygen in the feed. The Nh3-TPD and FTIR-pyridine results demonstrated that partially exchanged of h+ ions by Li+ into the W/hZSM-5 catalysts could be used to control the amount of strong acid sites on the catalyst surface. Without oxygen, the 3WhLi-Z (5:1) catalyst that has strong acid sites equal to nearly 74% of the original strong acid sites in the parent hZSM-5 exhibited the highest methane conversion and selectivity towards aromatics. however, the catalyst deactivated in a five hour period. In the presence of oxygen, the catalyst activity and stability could be improved further. The results of this study revealed that a suitable amount of strong Bronsted acid sites as well as oxygen addition in the feed increased the catalyst activity and stability. The 3WhLi-Z(5:1) catalyst exhibited improved performance in the dehydroaromatization of methane.

A stable passive Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser （EDFL） operating at 1563.5 nm is demonstrated by using a multi-walled carbon nanotube （MWCNT） polymer composite film based saturable absorber for the first time. The composite is prepared by mixing the MWCNTs homogeneous solution into a dilute PEO polymer solution before it is left to dry at room temperature to produce thin film. Then the film is sandwiched between two FC/PC fiber connectors and is integrated into the laser cavity for Q-switching pulse generation. The EDFL generates a stable pulse train with repetition rates ranging from 4.5 khz to 20.0 khz by varying the 1480 nm pump power from 35 mW to 53 mW. At the 53 mW pump power, the pulse width and pulse energy are 8.8 μs and 15.3 nJ, respectively.

This paper deals with thermodynamic chemical equilibrium analysis using the method of direct minimization of Gibbs free energy for all possible Ch4 and CO2 reactions. The effects of CO2/Ch4 feed ratio, reaction temperature, and system pressure on equilibrium composition, conversion, selectivity and yield were studied. In addition, carbon and no carbon formation regions were also considered at various reaction temperatures and CO2/Ch4 feed ratios in the reaction system at equilibrium. It was found that the reaction temperature above 1100 K and CO2/Ch4 ratio=1 were favourable for synthesis gas production with h2/CO ratio unity, while carbon dioxide oxidative coupling of methane （CO2 OCM） reaction to produce ethane and ethylene is less favourable thermodynamically. Numerical results indicated that the no carbon formation region was at temperatures above 1000 K and CO2/Ch4 ratio larger than 1.

Objective:To analyse the laboratory surveillance data from 2004 till 2008 to examine the changing trend of rubella cases in ***:Samples for this study were either received through the measles case based surveillance program or were hospital cases received for sero-diagnosis of congenital rubella syndrome(CRS). Specific rubella IgM antibody test was carried out on all samples that were negative for measles IgM antibody and for sero-diagnosis of ***:Through the surveillance program for measles,the samples received for rubella had increased five fold from 365 in 2004 to 1 522 in *** rubella cases detected had also increased from 4.1%in 2004 to 33.2%in *** age group 11 to 20 years accounted for 73.6%of rubella cases confirmed in 2008,with a higher incidence among males than *** rubella IgM was detected in 25 CRS cases during the 6 year period between January 2003 and December ***:The measles elimination program had contributed to significant progress in the control of rubella,with the majority of rubella cases detected through this *** rubella is not notifiable in Malaysia,this integrated measles and rubella surveillance should be ***,to enhance the progress,specific targets should also be established in the national program to eliminate rubella and CRS.

We demonstrate a simple,compact and low-cost mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser(EDFL)using a single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)poly-ethylene oxide(PEO)composite as a passive saturable absorber(SA).The composite with an SWCNT concentration of 18wt%is prepared by mixing the SWCNT homogeneous solution with a diluted PEO polymer solution.A droplet of the polymer composite is applied on the fiber ferrule end,which is then mated to another clean ferrule connector to construct an *** SA is then integrated into the laser system to self-start stable mode locking at 1557 nm without employing a polarization *** EDFL generates a stable soliton pulse train with a duration of 0.81 ps,repetition rate of 44 Mhz and average output power of 92.4μW at a 980 nm pump power of 26.8 *** soliton laser starts to lase at a pump power threshold of 14.6 mW.

Biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles(b-AgNPs)utilising plant extract has gained the interest of researchers due to the environmentally friendly and cost-effective ***,the extent of its application in the biomedical field remains *** study evaluates the antibacterial,cytocompatibility,and wound healing activities of synthesised AgNPs using Persicaria odorata leaves extract(PO-AgNPs).The formation of PO-AgNPs was observed by visual colour changes and verified by ultraviolet-visible(UV–vis)spectrophotometer,which revealed a surface plasmon resonance(SPR)at around 440 nm,and further confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).Characterisation using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy showed biomolecules from the leaves extract presented together on *** emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM)and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(hR-TEM)images revealed PO-AgNPs nanospheres with diameters of 11±3 *** diffusion test(DDT)and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)analysis resulted in a dose-dependent inhibition of PO-AgNPs against tested Staphylococcus epidermidis and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).These results were further corroborated by time-kill kinetic assay which revealed that PO-AgNPs were bactericidal against both strains 24 h *** and in vitro wound healing evaluation against normal human fibroblast cells,hSF 1184 inferred that PO-AgNPs are non-toxic to normal cells and able to enhance cell migration as compared to the non-treated ***,PO-AgNPs are biocompatible and possess antibacterial and wound healing capabilities that are useful in biomedical applications.
