A Latency-Aware and Fault-Tolerant Framework for Resource Scheduling and Data Management in Fog-Enabled Smart City Transportation Systems

Thedeployment of the Internet of Things(IoT)with smart sensors has facilitated the emergence of fog computing as an important technology for delivering services to smart environments such as campuses,smart cities,and smart transportation *** computing tackles a range of challenges,including processing,storage,bandwidth,latency,and reliability,by locally distributing secure information through end *** of endpoints,fog nodes,and back-end cloud infrastructure,it provides advanced capabilities beyond traditional cloud *** smart environments,particularly within smart city transportation systems,the abundance of devices and nodes poses significant challenges related to power consumption and system *** address the challenges of latency,energy consumption,and fault tolerance in these environments,this paper proposes a latency-aware,faulttolerant framework for resource scheduling and data management,referred to as the FORD framework,for smart cities in fog *** framework is designed to meet the demands of time-sensitive applications,such as those in smart transportation *** FORD framework incorporates latency-aware resource scheduling to optimize task execution in smart city environments,leveraging resources from both fog and cloud *** simulation-based executions,tasks are allocated to the nearest available nodes with minimum *** the event of execution failure,a fault-tolerantmechanism is employed to ensure the successful completion of *** successful execution,data is efficiently stored in the cloud data center,ensuring data integrity and reliability within the smart city ecosystem.

Use of clay as a pozzolona in high strength Portland cement and its thermal activation

In this investigation local clay from Cherat mines, Nowshera District, NWFP, Pakistan, has been tested as a pozzolanic material in high strength Portland cement. Thermal treatments were performed as a means of activation of the clay. It was found that thermal treatment of the clay can increase its pozzolanic activity. Different blended mortars, containing different amounts of clay, activated at different temperatures were studied for compressive strength, consistency, and setting times. It was concluded that the mechanical properties of the blended cements were mainly governed by the percentage of incorporation of the calcined clay. Blended cement composition has been for-mulated, with optimal results of 20% calcined clay at a temperature of 600℃.

This paper covers the detailed version of the potential raw material deposits at Darukhula and the adjacent areas of Nizampur, the manufacturing of high-strength Portland cement samples from the same material and comparison of the physical and chemical parameters for resulting cement with British and Pakistan standard specifications, which include compressive strength, setting time, consistency, lechatelier expansion, Blaine and insoluble residue. It was found that the raw material available in the study area meets the standard specifications and the area is feasible for the cement plant installation. The area can provide raw material which is quite sufficient for the running of a cement plant.

Chemical study of limestone and clay for cement manufacturing in Darukhula,Nizampur District,Nowshera,North West Frontier Province(N.W.F.P.),Pakistan

Limestone and clay samples were collected from Darukhula and adjoining areas of the Nizampur District,Nowshera,N.W.F.P.,Pakistan,and analyzed for different parameters in order to search for new reserves of suitable material for the manufacture of different types of cements in *** was found that the area under study contains three types of limestones,including high grade limestone,Darukhula limestone and siliceous limestone,which contain 53%,49.03% and 45.19% CaO,respectively,and three types of clay,including maroon color,yellow to yellowish-green color and green color clay containing 57.76%,65.47% and 61.24% SiO2,*** analysis of the limestone and clay samples collected from the deposits in the area under study showed that all the elements found in these samples are within the range of permissible limits for the production of high-strength Portland cement,sulphate resisting cement and white *** paper covers the detailed version of the potential raw material deposits at Darukhula and adjoining areas of the Nizampur District.

Negotiation Based Combinatorial Double Auction Mechanism in Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is a demanding business platform for services related to the field of *** goal of cloud customers is to access resources at a sustainable price,while the goal of cloud suppliers is to maximize their services ***,the customers would bid for every single resource type,which was a limitation of cloud resources *** solve these issues,researchers have focused on a combinatorial auction in which the resources are offered by the providers in bundles so that the user bids for their required ***,in this allocation mechanism,some drawbacks need to be tackled,such as due to the lower average bid price the users are dropped from the auction *** solve this problem,we proposed a“Negotiation based Combinatorial Double Auction Mechanism for Resource Allocation(N-CDARA)in cloud computing”.The proposed method negotiates with dropped *** average bid price users are asked by our proposed mechanism to increase their bids,as by the quoted bids they will be dropped by the *** of the users that are close to winning accept the proposal and increase their bid *** proposed mechanism is implemented in a CloudSim simulation *** are compared with the latest model and performance study shows that in our proposed scheme more users win and get their requested services and the utilization of offered services is increased up to 18.4%than the existing schemes.

A Hierarchal Clustered Based Proactive Caching in NDN-Based Vehicular Network

Analysis of Nuclear Structure Properties and Stellar β-decay Rates of Even–Even 106–120Zr Isotopes

The nuclear ground state properties of even–even106–120Zr nuclei have been investigated within the framework of the relativistic mean field （RMF） *** RMF model with density-dependent DDME2 and DDPC1interactions is utilized for the calculation of potential energy curves,the nuclear ground-state deformation parameters （β2）,neutron separation energies (S_nand S2n) and neutron skin thickness (rnp) of selected Zr ***,the β-decay properties of Zr isotopes were studied using the proton-neutron quasi-particle random phase approximation （pn-QRPA） *** include Gamow–Teller strength distributions,β-decay half-lives and stellar electron emission/positron capture *** β2values computed from the RMF model were employed in the pn-QRPA model as an input parameter for the calculations of β-decay properties for even–even106–120Zr *** stellar rates were computed using the pn-QRPA framework with three different types of deformation *** at high temperature （T9≥2） and low density (ρYe≤10～7g cm-3) values,the sum of electron emission and positron capture rates has a sizeable contribution （with positive exponents） to the stellar rates.

Control signaling is mandatory for the operation and management of all types of communication networks,including the Third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)mobile broadband ***,they consume important and scarce network resources such as bandwidth and processing *** have been several reports of these control signaling turning into signaling storms halting network operations and causing the respective Telecom companies big financial *** paper draws its motivation from such real network disaster incidents attributed to signaling *** this paper,we present a thorough survey of the causes,of the signaling storm problems in 3GPP-based mobile broadband networks and discuss in detail their possible solutions and *** provide relevant analytical models to help quantify the effect of the potential causes and benefits of their corresponding *** important contribution of this paper is the comparison of the possible causes and solutions/countermeasures,concerning their effect on several important network aspects such as architecture,additional signaling,fidelity,etc.,in the form of a *** paper presents an update and an extension of our earlier conference *** our knowledge,no similar survey study exists on the subject.

Abiotic stresses such as drought,heat,salinity,and heavy metal contamination severely affect global agricultural *** 2005 and 2015,droughts caused losses of approximately USD 29 billion in developing countries,and from 2008 to 2018,droughts accounted for over 34%of crop and livestock yield losses,totaling about USD 37 *** support the growing human population,agricultural output must increase substantially,necessitating a 60%–100%rise in crop productivity to meet the escalating *** address environmental challenges,organic,inorganic,and microbial biostimulants are increasingly employed to enhance plant resilience through various morphological,physiological,and biochemical *** biostimulants enhance plant resilience under abiotic stress through mechanisms such as abscisic acid signaling modulation,which regulates stomatal closure to reduce water loss during drought and heat ***,they aid in scavenging reactive oxygen species and stabilizing ion channels,mitigating oxidative damage,and maintaining ionic balance under stress conditions such as *** review summarizes recent advancements in applying these biostimulants,focusing on their roles in triggering morphological,physiological,biochemical,and molecular changes that collectively enhance plant resilience under stress *** also includes a bibliometric analysis of all articles published on biostimulants from 2019 to 2024 and explores future research *** was placed on optimizing biostimulant formulations and understanding their synergistic effects to maximize their efficacy under various stress *** integrating biostimulants into agricultural practices,we can adopt a sustainable strategy to safeguard crop productivity in the face of climate change and environmental stressors.

Solitary Osteolytic Bone Metastatic Lesion from Prostate Carcinoma: A Case Report

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among males worldwide and a common cause of cancer related mortality in males. Bone metastasis from prostate cancer is common in advanced stage disease leading to major complications including severe bone pain and fractures. Here, we present a case of 79-year-old male newly diagnosed metastatic prostate cancer, with metastasis to the lungs, liver and lymph nodes, and a solitary osteolytic bone metastasis seen in bone scan. It is well known that osseous metastasis from prostate cancer is primarily sclerotic, although lytic bone metastasis is rare, but it can also be seen as in our case.
