This research aims to understand the effect of human awareness and the use of bed nets on malaria control programs.A deterministic host-vector mathematical model was utilized and simplified using the Quasi-Steady State Approximation,assuming the mosquito population is at equilibrium due to its fast,dynamic *** model reveals two equilibrium states:the malaria-free equilibrium and the endemic *** malaria-free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when the basic reproduction number is less than one and unstable if it is larger than ***,the malaria-endemic equilibrium is unique and stable if the reproduction number exceeds one and does not exist *** on incidence data from Papua,parameter estimation and sensitivity analyses indicate that human awareness and the use of bed nets significantly reduce the reproduction *** address budget constraints for interventions,the model was reformulated as an optimal control problem,characterized using the Pontryagin Maximum Principle,and solved with the forward–backward sweep *** experiments were conducted to assess the impact of various scenarios on the malaria control ***-effectiveness analyses employing ACER,ICER,and IAR metrics suggest that while the combined implementation of awareness campaigns and bed nets effectively reduces infections,it incurs high *** contrast,implementing human awareness campaigns alone emerges as the best strategy based on ACER,ICER,and IAR *** study demonstrates that enhancing human awareness and promoting the use of bed nets are effective strategies for controlling ***,due to budget constraints,focusing solely on awareness campaigns proves to be the most cost-effective *** approach not only reduces malaria transmission but also optimizes resource allocation,highlighting the importance of targeted educational programs in public health initiatives for malaria control.

Whistleblowing decision by an individual employee has always been an interesting topic in the management of businesses and organizations. Whistleblowing can be an effective fraud detection mechanism if a person decided to whistleblow on the wrongdoings of other employees. In reality, however, individuals who are aware of unlawful activity of his or her peer group members would face a challenging dilemma if the company or organizations they are working with do not have a sound whistleblowing policy to ensure the confidentiality of whistleblower. Knowing the factors that could influence their whistleblowing judgement and intention would be an interesting topic to be studied. The present study attempts to discuss on factors which would influence whistleblowing intention on staffs from selected public sector organizations in Malaysia. These factors include three individual level factors of ethical ideology (idealism and relativism), personality traits (conscientiousness, openness to experience, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism), and whistleblowing judgment, all with regards to peer reporting. A theoretical model is developed in accordance to the issues discussed in this paper.

Starfruit (Averrhoa carambola L.) is an important fruit for Malaysian export and great attention has been made to improve starfruit fruit quality at Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI). The current study used next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies to develop starfruit simple sequence repeat (SSR) from 2 varieties namely B11 and B17 using Illumina HiSeq. The pre-processed reads were de novo assembled to generate approximately 75,000 and 74,000 scaffolds respectively. Total genome size for B11 and B17 were around 345 Mbp and 342 Mbp based on K-mer distribution analysis. In-silico microsatellite mining of each variety has identified more than 17,000 SSR in B11 and B17 respectively. Dinucleotides were the most abundant, accounting for more than 70% of all SSR and repeat motif GA (49%) was most common. A total of 239 SSR primer pairs were designed from contigs larger than 350 nucleotides and tested for amplification. The 30 polymorphic SSRs were used to DNA fingerprint of 12 starfruit hybrids. Polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.1411 to 0.6838, with an average of 0.3919. The Unweighted Pair-Group Method for Arithmetic Averages (UPGMA) dendrogram clustered 12 starfruit accessions into 2 groups.

The temporal variations of mesozooplankton abundance and biomass （1-Volumetric method by settling volume and displacement volume and 2- Gravimetric method through wet weight, dry weight and ash-free dry weight） with relation to environmental parameters were studied in the mangrove creek area of Karachi coast, Pakistan. The data of mesozooplankton samples along with environmental parameters （temperature, salinity, pH, etc.） were collected during January 1998 to December 1998 from two creek stations. The abun-dance of mesozooplankton also exhibited seasonal trends at both stations. At Sta. S2, the highest and low-est abundance values were observed during post-monsoon and southwest monsoon respectively whereas, at Sta. S1, a clear trend of high abundance in pre-monsoon to low abundance in southwest monsoon was observed. Mesozooplankton abundance was also positively correlated with settling volume, displacement volume, wet weight and dry weight. The highest biomass value was observed in the northeast monsoon and pre-monsoon periods. The results of the canonical analysis of the output from the discriminate function was tested. Out of fifteen variables, only one was significantly different in single character ratios dry weight/ash free-dry weight （F3,23=4.78,P＆lt;0.005）. The mesozooplankton community was collectively composed of 28 taxa. Among these groups, copepoda （66.3%）, gastropod larvae （9.94%）, evadne （4.60%）, zoea （3.60%）, cypris nauplii （2.56%）, lemellibranch larvae （1.87%）, chaetognaths （1.81%）, ostracods （1.73%）, lucifer （1.15%） and barnacles nauplii （1.35%） contributed the most to the similarities within Sta. S1, while copepoda （74.68%）, cypris nauplii （5.29%）, gastropods （4.87%）, barnacles nauplii （4.81%）, evadne （1.72%）, zoea （1.53%） and ca-ridean larvae （1.18%） at Sta. S2. Zonal distribution and population biology of llyoplaxfrater were studied in a mangrove mudflat area of Pakistan. The crabs were collected from Korangi creek through transect and quadrat method from low tide level to high tide level. Two transects were delimited in a mangrove area of Korangi creek （24°79′N/67°20′E）. On each transect, three 0.25 m quadrats were sampled at three tidal levels on a monthly basis during low tide periods from March 2001 to February 2002. A total of 1124 crabs were obtained, of which 482 were males and 642 were females. Density of crabs varied between 0 and 90/m^2. The density and size distribution varied and showed significant differences from low to high tide level, and were positively correlated with the percent moisture, percent organic matter and sediment grain size. The carapace width （CW） ranged from 2.5 to 11.5 mm for male and 2.5 to 11.0 mm for female and was not significantly different. The overall sex ratio did not differ significantly from the expected 1：1 throughout the year in small crabs but was significantly different in adult crabs （Z2 = 49.73） with more male crabs, Size frequency distribution showed recruitment of juvenile crabs （〈 4 mm） nearly throughout the year except during June and July. Presence of ovigerous females in all months with seasonal peaks in September, October, December and May indicates seasonal continuous breeding. Weight of egg mass increases with weight of ovigerous females and show positive linear relationship. The estimated mean diameter of egg was 2.83±0.25μm, and the average number of eggs was 3065±902.

Soil is of particular interest to the forensic community because it can be used as valuable associative evidence to link a suspect to a victim or a crime *** chromatography is a powerful analytical tool for organic compound ***,high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)has proven to be an efficient method for forensic soil analysis,especially in discriminating soils from proximity ***,ultra-performance liquid chromatography(UPLC),which is much more sensitive than HPLC,has never been explored in this *** study proposed a UPLC method for profiling non-volatile organic compounds in three Malaysian soils(red,brown and yellowish-brown soils).The three soils were analysed separately to assess the effects of individual chromatographic parameters:(a)elution programme(isocratic *** gradient programmes);(b)flow rate(0.1 vs.0.2 mL/min);(c)extraction solvent(acetonitrile ***)and(d)detection wavelength(230 vs.254 nm).The injection volume and total run time were set to 5μL and 35 min,***,each soil sample gave 24 different *** showed that the most desirable chromatographic parameters were(a)isocratic elution;(b)flow rate at 0.2 mL/min and(c)acetonitrile extraction *** proposed UPLC system is expected to be a feasible method for profiling non-volatile organic compounds in soil,and is more chemical-efficient than a comparable HPLC system.

Early detection of pregnancy is advantageous to breeders. However, tools that were used in the early pregnancy detection are expensive, laboratory-based and not efficient and applicable enough in the field to farmers. Thus, there is a need to find a biomarker which not only can detect pregnancy but also could be applied to the livestock on the field. Proteomic approach was used in this study as to search for early pregnancy biomarker. When goat sera at day 14 of gestation were resolved by using two dimensional gel electrophoresis, five differentially expressed proteins were detected. Four of the proteins were identified as albumin precursors, immunoglobulin lambda light chain and zinc-alpha-2-glycoprotein. Pregnancy associated glycoprotein-1 was detected by using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry and the protein was validated by immunoblotting. These proteins have potential to be used as a biomarker for early pregnancy detection, however, more extensive analysis are needed to validate its possibility.

The prevalence of diabetic retinopathy(DR),and associated morbidity is high in the Asia-Pacific *** evidence suggests a potential role for fenofibrate in the prevention of progression of DR,especially in patients with cardiovascular risk,and pre-existing mild-to-moderate *** has also been found to reduce maculopathy,and the need for laser treatment in these *** these benefits of fenofibrate,a group of experts from the fields of endocrinology and ophthalmology convened in May 2017,to discuss on the the mechanism of action,and clinical efficacy of fenofibrate in *** findings from key clinical studies on fenofibrate in DR were reviewed by the experts,and consensus statements were derived to define the role of fenofibrate in the prevention and treatment of *** statements were rated based on the GRADE *** algorithm was also developed for the screening and treatment of DR in patients with type 2 diabetes(T2D),and the place of fenofibrate was defined in the *** expert recommendations,and the algorithm provided in this review will serve as a guide to the clinicians to reconsider the adjunctive use of fenofibrate for preventing the progression of DR in selected T2D patients.
