Comparison of electron transmittances and tunneling currents in an anisotropic TiN_x/HfO_2/SiO_2/p-Si(100) metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) capacitor calculated using exponential- and Airy-wavefunction approaches and a transfer matrix method

Analytical expressions of electron transmittance and tunneling current in an anisotropic TiNx/HfO2/SiO2/p-Si（100） metal-oxide-semiconductor （MOS） capacitor were derived by considering the coupling of transverse and longitudinal energies of an electron. Exponential and Airy wavefunctions were utilized to obtain the electron transmittance and the electron tunneling current. A transfer matrix method, as a numerical approach, was used as a benchmark to assess the analytical approaches. It was found that there is a similarity in the transmittances calculated among exponential- and Airy-wavefimction approaches and the TMM at low electron energies. However, for high energies, only the transmit- tance calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach is the same as that evaluated by the TMM. It was also found that only the tunneling currents calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach are the same as those obtained under the TMM for all range of oxide voltages. Therefore, a better analytical description for the tunneling phenomenon in the MOS capacitor is given by the Airy-wavefunction approach. Moreover, the tunneling current density decreases as the titanium concentration of the TiNx metal gate increases because the electron effective mass of TiNx decreases with increasing nitrogen concentration. In addition, the mass anisotropy cannot be neglected because the tunneling currents obtained under the isotropic and anisotropic masses are very different.

MICELLAR PARAMETERS OF DIBLOCK COPOLYMERS AND THEIR INTERACTIONS WITH IONIC SURFACTANTS

The interactions of non-ionic amphiphilic diblock copolymer poly（oxyethylene/oxybutylene）（E39B18） with anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate （SDS） and cationic surfactant hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide （CTAB） were studied by using various techniques such as surface tension, conductivity, steady-state fluorescence and dynamic light scattering. Surface tension measurements were used to determine the critical micelle concentration （CMC） and thereby the free energy of micellization （AGmic）, free energy of adsorption （AG^ds）, surface excess concentration （F） and minimum area per molecule （A）. Conductivity measurements were used to determine the critical micelle concentration （CMC）, critical aggregation concentration （CAC）, polymer saturation point （PSP）, degree of ionization （tr） and counter ion binding （l]）. Dynamic light scattering experiments were performed to check the changes in physiochemical properties of the block copolymer micelles taken place due to the interactions of diblock copolymers with ionic surfactants. The ratio of the first and third vibronic peaks （11/Is） indicated the polarity of the pyrene micro environment and was used for the detection of micelle as well as polymer-surfactant interactions. Aggregation number （N）, number of binding sites （n） and free energy of binding （AGb） for pure surfactants as well as for polymer-surfactant mixed micellar systems were determined by the fluorescence quenching method.

Geochemical baselines of major,minor and trace elements in the tropical sediments of the Terengganu River basin,Malaysia

The geochemical baselines and distribution of 31 elements (Al, Fe, K, Na, Mg, Ca, Mn, Ba, Cr, Zr, Ni, Sr, Zn, Y, Li, Cu, Mo, Nb, Th, Co, Ga, W, Ta, Be, Ti, Ge, Se, Bi, Te, Sc and Re) and physico-chemical parameters of the tropical surface sediments of the Terengganu River basin, Malaysia, are reported. Sediments are sandy loam to sand in texture consisting of mostly quartz, low organic matter content (average-2.68%), low CEC (average-2.02 cmol(+)/kg) and mildly acidic pH1:5 (average-5.91). Concentrations of Mn, Fe, Ba, Cr, Ni, Cu, Mo and Se were measured to be above the environmental sediment quality criteria at various locations. Lake sediments registered significantly higher Al, Fe, Ti, Mg, Ca, Mn, Te and Sc concentrations as compared to the river sediments. Most of the elements investigated showed an association with silt size fraction (2-63 μm). Among the investigated metals, Mo and Fe concentrations showed an increasing (>5-fold) and decreasing (>3-fold) trend, respectively, along the river path from the upstream to the downstream depending on the stream pH-redox conditions. The enrichment factor values (EF >5) of Cr, Ni, Mo and Se indicated enrichment from anthropogenic activities. Alkali and alkali earth metals registered a significant depletion (EF values 1,000 mg/kg) indicating contamination of sediments. This work presents the geochemical baselines of the tropical sediments as industrial development and urbanization along the north east coast of Peninsular Malaysia are advancing rapidly.

Modeling and simulation of industrial water demand of Beijing municipality in China

Statistic and econometric regression models were established in this study to analyze and predict industrial water demand,water deficits,and their future uncertainty in Beijing—a Chinese city with a severe water stress problem.A forecasting model was selected based on a modeling evaluation by comparing predictions with *** scenarios were designed to simulate and analyze the future uncertainty of industrial water demand and the water deficit of *** modeling results for industrial water demand suggested that Beijing industry would face a water deficit between 3.06×10^(8)m^(3)in 2008 and 2.77×10^(8)m^(3)in 2015,though its industrial water demand would decrease from 6.31×10^(8)m^(3)to 4.84×10^(8)m^(3)during this period of *** from simulated scenario illustrated that,due to the extreme water scarcity situation,industry in Beijing would still face a serious water deficit problem even with a very optimistic scenario for the future.

Forest cover change in the mountainous region is driven by a variety of anthropogenic and natural *** Hindu Kush-Himalayan Mountains has experienced a considerable vegetation cover change due to intensive human activities,such as population growth,proximate causes,accessibility,unstable political situations,government policy failure and *** present study seeks to find out the impact of population growth and road network expansion on forest cover of Palas valley based on remotely sensed data and employing geospatial *** in forest cover were determined by classifying time-series satellite images of Landsat and Sentinel 2 *** images of October 1980,2000,2010 and 2017 were classified into six land cover classes and then the impact of population growth and accessibility on forest cover was ***,forest cover and land-use change detection map was prepared using classified images of 1980 and *** data were collected mainly from field visits(ground verification),census reports,Communication and Works Department,*** imageries were obtained from the United States Geological Survey’s websites and classified in ERDAS imagine 2014 and ESRI ArcGIS 10.2.1 using supervised classification-maximum likelihood *** of this study revealed that a substantial reduction in forest cover has taken place mainly in the proximity of human *** the average,during the study period,annually more than 460 hectares of forest area has been converted into other uses.
