Gray zone lymphoma effectively treated with cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,prednisolone,and rituximab chemotherapy:A case report

BACKGROUND B-cell lymphoma,unclassifiable,with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and classical Hodgkin lymphoma(BCLu-DLBCL/cHL),also referred to as gray zone lymphoma(GZL),is known to share features with cHL and ***,GZL is often difficult to *** is no consensus regarding the optimal therapeutic *** reported cases of GZL have been in Caucasian and Hispanic individuals,and its incidence is lower in African-American and Asian populations,including the Japanese *** SUMMARY A 69-year-old female presented at our hospital with a growing mass on the right side of her *** elastic,soft mass measuring 9 cm×6 cm was palpable in the right cervical *** analyses showed pancytopenia,increased serum lactate dehydrogenase levels,and markedly increased levels of soluble interleukin-2 *** computed tomography(CT)and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography(PET)/CT revealed multiple lesions throughout her *** was diagnosed with GZL based on the characteristic pathological findings,the immunophenotype[CD20+,PAX5+,OCT2+/BOB1(focal+),CD30+,CD15-],and the strong positive expression of neoplastic programmed cell death protein ligand 1(PD-L1)in her lymphoma *** lymphoma was stage IV according to the Lugano classification and high-risk according to the International Prognostic Index for aggressive non-Hodgkin *** patient received cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,prednisolone,and rituximab(R-CHOP)chemotherapy because the tumor cells were CD20+.She has remained in complete remission for 3 *** GZL was diagnosed based on histopathology and immunophenotyping with ancillary PD-L1 positivity.R-CHOP chemotherapy was an effective treatment.

Molecular evidence for biochemical diversification of phenolamide biosynthesis in rice plants

Two phenolamides （PAs）, p-coumaroylputrescine and feruloylputrescine strongly accumulate in rice （Oryza sativa cv. Nipponbare） leaves subjected to attack of chewing and sucking herbivores. Here we identified and characterized in vitro three novel rice genes that mediated coumaroyI-CoA/ feruloyI-CoA conjugation to polyamines, putrescine and agmatine. Interestingly, two genes were highly specific for their polyamine substrates, encoding putresdne N-hydrox- ycinnamoyltransferase and agmatine N-hydroxycinnamoyl- transferase, while the third enzyme could use both polyamines and it was therefore annotated as putrescine/ agmatine N-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase. All genes were preferentially expressed in rice roots and developing flowers, and in addition, the putrescine/agmatine N-hydroxycinnamoyl- transferase transcripts were strongly induced by wounding in the young rice leaves. Because the wound response of this gene was only partially suppressed in the jasmonoyI-L-isoleucine deficient plants （Osjarl）, it suggests that its upregulation （as well as inducible PAs in rice） may be largely independent of jasmonoyI-L-isoleucine signaling pathway. The finding of three closely related genes with a similar and/or overlapping activity in PA biosynthesis provides another striking example of rapid diversification of plant metabolism in response to environmental stresses in nature.

Transient receptor potential channel A1 involved in calcitonin gene-related peptide release in neurons

Transient receptor potential channel A1 is one of the important transducers of noxious stimuli in the primary afferents, which may contribute to generation of neurogenic inflammation and hyperalgesia. The present study was designed to investigate if activation of transient receptor potential channel A1 may induce calcitonin gene-related peptide release from the primary afferent neurons. We found that application of allyl isothiocyanate, a transient receptor potential channel A1 activator, caused calcitonin gene-related peptide release from the cultured rat dorsal root ganglion neurons. Knock- down of transient receptor potential channel A1 with an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide prevented calcitonin gene-related peptide release by allyl isothiocyanate application in cultured dorsal root ganglion neurons. Thus, we concluded that transient receptor potential channel A1 activation caused calcitonin gene-related peptide release in sensory neurons.

Corticotropin-releasing factor secretion from dendritic cells stimulated by commensal bacteria

Characteristic pathological findings and effects of ecabet sodium in rat reflux esophagitis

AIM： To explore the pathological findings in the entire esophagus in rats with reflux esophagitis, and the effects of ecabet sodium （ES）. METHODS： A rat model of chronic acid reflux esophagitis was used. In the treatment group, ES was administered after surgery （n = 16）. No drug was administered postoperatively to the esophagitis group （n = 9）. Shamoperated rats were used as a control group （n = 5）. Rats were sacrificed on day 7 after the operation. The epithelial thickness and leukocyte infiltration were examined in the upper, middle and lower areas of the esophagus. The survival rate, incidence of esophageal ulcer, and mean surface area and number of esophageal ulcers were determined in the esophagitis and ES groups. Esophageal histology was assessed in all three groups. RESULTS： Leukocyte infiltration in the esophagitis group was 26.3 ± 22.0 in the middle esophagus and 8.2 ± 4.9 in the upper esophagus, which was significantly greater than that in the controls （1.3 ± 1.1 and 1.4 ±1.0, respectively）（P 〈 0.05）. The thickness of the epithelium in the esophagitis group was 210.8 ± 47.7 μm in the lower esophagus and 204.2 ± 60.1 μm in the middle esophagus, which was significantly greater than that in the controls （26.0 ± 5.5 and 21.0 ± 6.5 μm, respectively）（P 〈 0.05）. The mean number of ulcers per animal in the ES group in the entire esophagus was 5.4 =1= 2.5, which was significantly less than that in the esophagitis group （9.0 ± 3.5）（P 〈 0.05）. The epithelial thickness in the ES group was 97.5 ± 32.2 μm in the lower esophagus, which was decreased compared with that in the esophagitis group （210.8 ± 47.7 μm）（P 〈 0.05）. CONCLUSION： Mucosal inflammation extended to the upper esophagus close to the hypopharynx. Our study suggested that ES may have a useful defensive role in reflux esophagitis.

Integrated Power Conversion for Multiple DC Voltage Sources and Its Power Quality

In a smart grid, electric loads are supplied by various DC （direct current） power sources, such as solar cells or batteries. On the other hand, traditional AC （alternating current） loads like a directly connected induction motors will also be used. In the circumstances, a smart power conversion unit is one of key components, which can integrate these DC or AC apparatus and trade power among them. Authors have developed an integrated power converter based on a well-known circuit topology of flying capacitor multilevel converter. This paper describes the detail of the circuit topology and its characteristics depending on designed parameters. The achieved power quality is also verified by simulation study.
