Objectives： The study assessed if the level of knowledge of HIV-infected about HAART and waiting-times in the PHC （primary healthcare） clinic have an influence on antiretroviral adherence. Methods： A descriptive-cross-sectional study was conducted in South Africa. Data collected uses a standardized-questionnaire and face-to-face-exit interviews. Pill-count technique was performed and a value of≥ 95% acceptable. Data were analysed using SPSS. Univariate-factors associated with poor-adherence to knowledge about HAART and waiting times were assessed using AnOVA and p ≤ 0.05 considered statistically significant. Key findings： Of 86 enrolled, 63（73.3%） were females and 23（26.7%） males, with mean-age （± SD） of 35.6（±9.6） years and on HAART for 35.5（± 31.8） months ranging from 1-137. Of these, 27（31.40%） and 25（29.07%） were on WHO stages 2 and 3 respectively. Adherence-rates computed from 32 patients, 23（71.9%） revealed poor adherence-rates. The level of knowledge about HAART in terms of names of tablets, correct-dose, frequency, adverse-effects had no influence on ARV-adherence （p _〉 0.05）. Of 23 non-compliant, 10 （40%） gave the reason of drugs-unavailability, 7（30%） adverse-effects, 5（20%） drugs＇ complexity, and 1（10%） too busy to take them. Waiting areas associated with poor ARV-adherence were reception （p = 0.028）, doctors （p = 0.027）, while nurse＇s station （p = 0.29） and pharmacy （p = 0.43） revealed acceptable ARV-adherence.

AIM: To evaluate the effect of femtosecond laser-assisted lens surgery(FlAlS;cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange) on the structure of the optic nerve head and the ***: This prospective longitudinal study included healthy eyes undergoing FlAlS. Eyes with glaucoma or any other ocular disease that could alter optical coherence tomography results were excluded. Retinal nerve fiber layer(RnFl), Bruch’s membrane opening-minimum rim width(BMO-MRW) and macular thickness(MT) were measured preoperatively, 1 and 6 mo after surgery using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT). Changes between preoperative and postoperative values were ***: A total of 87 eyes of 46 patients were included in this study. Preoperative RnFl, BMO-MRW and MT in microns(μm) were 100.77±10.39, 330.31±49.99 and 276.30±33.39, respectively. Postoperative RnFl, BMO-MRW and MT were 104.74±11.55, 348.32±54.05 and 279.83±22.65 1 mo after surgery and 102.93±11.17, 343.11±53.4 and 278.90±22.19 6 mo after surgery, respectively;which equals an increase of 3.93%, 5.45% and 1.27%,respectively, 1 mo after surgery, and 2.14%, 3.87% and 0.94% 6 mo after surgery. The differences between the preoperative and the postoperative RnFl and BMO-MRW values were statistically significant(Png MT values, there were not statistically significant differences(P=0.26).COnClUSIOn: Our study suggests that FlAlS does not have a negative impact on the structural status of the optic nerve head in healthy eyes, assessed by SD-OCT. There is a slight increase in the values of RnFl, BMO-MRW and MT 1 mo and 6 mo after surgery.

BACKGROUnD The association between digoxin and mortality is an unclear *** older patients with atrial fibrillation(AF),where use of digoxin is frequent,the evidence of its safety is *** aim is to assess the safety of digoxin in nonagenarian patients with *** We evaluated data from 795 nonagenarian patients with non-valvular AF from the Spanish Multicenter *** analyzed the relationship between digoxin and all-cause mortality with the Cox proportional-hazards *** Follow-up was 27.7±18.3 *** age was 92.5±3.8 years,and 71%of nonagenarian patients were *** was not associated with increased risk of mortality[adjusted hazard ratio(aHR)=1.16,95%CI:0.96−1.41,P=0.130].However,we found a significant increase in mortality in the subgroup with estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)l/min per 1.73 m^(2)(aHR=2.01,95%CI:1.13−3.57,P=0.018),but not in the other subgroups of eGFR(30−59 ml/min per 1.73 m^(2) and≥60 ml/min per 1.73 m^(2)).When exploring the risk of mortality according to sex,male subgroup was associated with an in-crease in mortality(aHR=1.48,95%CI:1.02−2.14,P=0.041).This was not observed in females subgroup(aHR=1.03,95%CI:0.81−1.29,P=0.829).Based on the presence or absence of heart failure,we did not find significant differences(aHR=1.20,95%CI:0.87−1.65,P=0.268 ***=1.15,95%CI:0.90−1.47,P=0.273,respectively).COnClUSIOnS In our large registry of nonagenarian patients with AF,we did not find an association between digoxin and mortality in the total ***,in the subgroup analyses,we found an increase in mortality with the use of digoxin in men and in patients with an eGFRl/min per 1.73 m^(2).

Soil salinization and non-point source pollution are among the most important and widespread environmental problems in European Mediterranean regions. Sweet sorghum （Sorghum bicolor （l.） Moench var. saccharatum） is a moderate to high salinity tolerant crop with low water and nutrient needs, seen as an alternative to grow in the water scarce regions. A three-year multifactorial study was conducted in southern Portugal to evaluate the combined effects of saline water and nitrogen application on the dry biomass （total, stems, and leaves）, sugar content （total reducing sugars and sucrose eontents） and sugar yield （here defined as the product of total reducing sugars and stems dry biomass） functions of sweet sorghum. Sorghum dry biomass and sugar yield showed diminishing returns for each incremental change of nitrogen. The use of saline irrigation waters also led to yield reduction. Exception was sucrose content which increased with increasing levels of sodium in the soil. nitrogen need decreased as the amount of sodium applied increased. Stem dry biomass, sucrose content, and sugar yield progressively increased with progress in the experiment. The effect could be attributed to the increase of the amount of irrigation applied throughout the years, thus increasing the leaching fraction which promoted salt leaching from the root zone, reduced the salinity stress, increased plant transpiration, nitrogen uptake and biomass yield.

Highly transparent conductive stoichiometric nanocrystalline stannic oxide coatings were deposited onto Corning®EAGlE XG®slim glass *** each coating,it was deposited for various concentrations in the aerosol solution with the substrate temperature maintained at 623.15 K by an ultrasonic spray pyrolysis(USP)*** was em-ployed both as the solution carrier in addition to aerosol directing gas,maintaining its flow rates at 3500.0 and 500.0 ml/min,*** coatings were polycrystalline,with preferential growth along the stannic oxide(112)plane,irrespective of the molarity content in the spray *** coating prepared at 0.2 M,a concentration in the aerosol solution,showed an average transmission of 60%in the visible light region spectrum with a maximum conductivity of 24.86 S/*** coatings deposited exhibited in the general photoluminescence spectrum emission colors of green,greenish white,and bluish white calculated on the intensities of the excitonic and oxygen vacancy defect level emissions.
