Utilization of Logistical Regression to the Modified sine-Gordon Model in the MsT Experiment

In this paper, a logistical regression statistical analysis (LR) is presented for a set of variables used in experimental measurements in reversed field pinch (RFP) machines, commonly known as “slinky mode” (sM), observed to travel around the torus in Madison symmetric Torus (MsT). The LR analysis is used to utilize the modified sine-Gordon dynamic equation model to predict with high confidence whether the slinky mode will lock or not lock when compared to the experimentally measured motion of the slinky mode. It is observed that under certain conditions, the slinky mode “locks” at or near the intersection of poloidal and/or toroidal gaps in MsT. However, locked mode cease to travel around the torus;while unlocked mode keeps traveling without a change in the energy, making it hard to determine an exact set of conditions to predict locking/unlocking behaviour. The significant key model parameters determined by LR analysis are shown to improve the sine-Gordon model’s ability to determine the locking/unlocking of magnetohydrodyamic (MHD) modes. The LR analysis of measured variables provides high confidence in anticipating locking versus unlocking of slinky mode proven by relational comparisons between simulations and the experimentally measured motion of the slinky mode in MsT.

Corneal neovascularization（CNV） is a global important cause of visual impairment. The immune mechanisms leading to corneal heme- and lymphangiogenesis have been extensively studied over the past years as more attempts were made to develop better prophylactic and therapeutic measures. This article aims to discuss immune cells of particular relevance to CNV, with a focus on macrophages, Th17 cells, dendritic cells and the underlying immunology of common pathologies involving neovascularization of the cornea. Hopefully, a thorough understanding of these topics would propel the efforts to halt the detrimental effects of CNV.

The control of time delay systems is still an open area for research. This paper proposes an enhanced model predictive discrete-time sliding mode control with a new sliding function for a linear system with state delay. Firstly, a new sliding function including a present value and a past value of the state, called dynamic surface, is designed by means of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）. Then, using this dynamic function and the rolling optimization method in the predictive control strategy, a discrete predictive sliding mode controller is synthesized. This new strategy is proposed to eliminate the undesirable effect of the delay term in the closed loop system. Also, the designed control strategy is more robust, and has a chattering reduction property and a faster convergence of the system s state. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control.

Finite-element analysis(FEA)for structures has been broadly used to conduct stress analysis of various civil and mechanical engineering *** methods,such as FEA,provide high fidelity results but require the solution of large linear systems that can be computationally ***,Deep Learning(DL)techniques can generate results significantly faster than conventional run-time *** can prove extremely valuable in real-time structural assessment *** proposed method uses deep neural networks in the form of convolutional neural networks(CNN)to bypass the FEA and predict high-resolution stress distributions on loaded steel plates with variable loading and boundary *** CNN was designed and trained to use the geometry,boundary conditions,and load as input to predict the stress *** proposed technique’s performance was compared to finite-element simulations using a partial differential equation(PDE)*** trained DL model can predict the stress distributions with a mean absolute error of 0.9%and an absolute peak error of 0.46%for the von Mises stress *** study shows the feasibility and potential of using DL techniques to bypass FEA for stress analysis applications.

Apis mellifera syriaca exhibits a high degree of tolerance to pests and pathogens including varroa mites. This native honey bee subspecies of Jordan expresses behavioral adaptations to high temperature and dry seasons typical of the region. However, persistent honey bee imports of commercial breeder lines are endangering local honey bee population. This study reports the use of next-generation sequencing （NGs） technology to study the A. m. syriaca genome and to identify genetic factors possibly contributing toward mite resistance and other favorable traits. We obtained a total of 46.2 million raw reads by applying the NGs to sequence A. m. syriaca and used extensive bioinformatics approach to identify several candidate genes for Varroa mite resistance, behavioral and immune responses char- acteristic for these bees. As a part of characterizing the functional regulation of molecular genetic pathway, we have mapped the pathway genes potentially involved using information from Drosophila melanogaster and present possible functional changes implicated in responses to Varroa destructor mite infestation toward this. We performed in-depth functional annotation methods to identify -600 candidates that are relevant, genes involved in pathways such as microbial recognition and phagocytosis, peptidoglycan recognition protein family, Gram negative binding protein family, phagocytosis receptors, serpins, Toll signaling pathway, Imd pathway, Tnf, JAK-sTAT and MAPK pathway, heamatopioesis and cellular response pathways, antiviral, RNAi pathway, stress factors, etc. were selected. Finally, we have cataloged function-specific polymorphisms between A. mellifera and A. m. syriaca that could give better understanding of varroa mite resistance mechanisms and assist in breeding. AIM To evaluate risk of recidivism on a case-by-case *** From our center's liver transplant program,we selected patients with alcoholic liver disease who were listed for transplant based on Ohio solid Organ Transplantation Consortium(OsOTC) exception *** were considered to have either a low or medium risk of recidivism,and had at least one or three or more months of abstinence,*** were matched based on gender,age,and Model for End-stage Liver Disease(MELD) score to controls with alcohol-induced cirrhosis from Organ Procurement and Transplant Network *** Thirty six patients with alcoholic liver disease were approved for listing based on OsOTC exception criteria and were matched to 72 *** patients(53%) with a median [Inter-quartile range(IQR)] MELD score of 24(13) received transplant and were followed for a median of 3.4 *** were matched to 38 controls with a median(IQR) MELD score of 25(9).At one and five years,cumulative survival rates(± standard error) were 90% ± 7% and 92% ± 5% and 73% ± 12% and 77% ± 8% in patients and controls,respectively(Log-rank test,P = 0.837).Four(21%) patients resumed drinking by last follow-up *** Compared to traditional criteria for assessment of risk of recidivism,a careful selection process with more flexibility to evaluate eligibility on a case-by-case basis can lead to similar survival rates after transplantation.

AIM: To identify plasma analytes using metabolomics that correlate with the diagnosis and severity of liver disease in patients with alcoholic hepatitis(AH).METHODs: We prospectively recruited patients with cirrhosis from AH(n = 23) and those with cirrhosis with acute decompensation(AD) from etiologies other than alcohol(n = 25). We used mass spectrometry to identify 29 metabolic compounds in plasma samples from fasted subjects. A receiver operating characteristics analysis was performed to assess the utility of biomarkers in distinguishing acute AH from alcoholic cirrhosis. Logistic regression analysis was performed to build a predictive model for AH based on clinical characteristics. A survival analysis was used to construct Kaplan Meier curves evaluating transplant-free ***: A comparison of model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)-adjusted metabolomics levels between cirrhosis patients who had AD or AH showed that patients with AH had significantly higher levels of betaine, and lower creatinine, phenylalanine, homocitrulline, citrulline, tyrosine, octenoyl-carnitine, and symmetric dimethylarginine. When considering combined levels, betaine and citrulline were highly accurate predictors for differentiation between AH and AD(area under receiver operating characteristics curve = 0.84). The plasma levels of carnitine [0.54(0.18, 0.91); P = 0.005], homocitrulline [0.66(0.34, 0.99); P scores in patients diagnosed with AH. Increased levels of many biomarkers(carnitine P = 0.005, butyrobetaine P = 0.32, homocitrulline P = 0.002, leucine P = 0.027, valine P = 0.024, phenylalanine P = 0.037, tyrosine P = 0.012, acetyl-carnitine P = 0.006, propionyl-carnitine P = 0.03, butyryl-carnitine P = 0.03, trimethyl-lisine P = 0.034, pentanoyl-carnitine P = 0.03, hexanoyl-carnitine P = 0.026) were associated with increased mortality in patients with AH. The mobile communication (radio, mobile, satellite telephony…) insert band filters which are required to comply with stringent pass-band characteristics concerning the selectivity, the group delay, the insertion losses and the mass and volume. The mass and volume of payload electronic equipment is a significant contributor to the overall cost of space systems. Within this framework, many improvements were made in the design of filters and multiplexers which represent a considerable portion of the overall satellite payload. The High Temperature superconducting (HTs) planar technology permits to realize compact size filtering devices. Moreover, it could also provide a superior performance not attainable by any other technology. However, not controllable parameters in the manufacturing processes (indistinctness of the engraving, the not uniformity of substratum thickness) do not allow to obtain a precision on the echo’s frequency and to keep a high quality factor. so, it is necessary to use method to tune the center frequency of filters after the fabrication or to study new resonator topologies which present lower sensitivity to LAIO3 substrate thickness. This last point is the object of this article.
