Determining Potential Passive Islanding Detection Indicators for Single-point Single Inverter,Single-point Multi-inverter and Multi-point Multi-inverter Scenarios

Distributed Generation(DG)sources,predominantly renewable energy-based,such as solar photovoltaic and wind energy sources,have significantly penetrated into power system *** high penetration of DG sources may lead to the formation of unintentional islands,which is hazardous to both the equipment and personnel,if *** this paper,46 passive parameters are considered to find out which candidate(s)are promising for detecting sustained unintentional islands and avoid false DG *** 46 parameters are derived from point of common coupling(PCC)voltage,DG output current,frequency,power factor angle,active and reactive *** these parameters are tested on standard IEEE 13 and 34 bus distribution networks,integrated with inverter-interfaced DGs at different locations for different penetration levels in the MATLAB/SIMULINK *** parameters are tested for different islanding events(comprising of various local loads,such as conventional parallel RLC resonant load,R,RC,and RL loads)and for different non-islanding *** parameters are then ranked accordingly by a suitable averaging approach based performance ranking *** this analysis,the best candidates are obtained for detecting inverter DG islands at single-point(or single PCC)locations and multi-point(or multiple PCCs)*** best passive candidates are obtained for different island scenarios from which a set of promising islanding detection indicators are proposed.

Weight loss endoscopy: Development, applications, and current status

Obesity and its comorbidities- including diabetes and obstructive sleep apnea- have taken a large and increasing toll on the United States and the rest of the world. The availability of commercial, clinical, and operative therapies for weight management have not been effective at a societal level. Endoscopic bariatric therapy is gaining acceptance as more effective than diet and lifestyle measures, and less invasive than bariatric surgery. Various endoscopic therapies are analogues of the restrictive or bypass components of bariatric surgery, utilizing gastric remodeling or intestinal anastomosis to achieve proven weight loss and metabolic benefits. Others, such as aspiration therapy, employnovel mechanisms of action. Intragastric balloons have recently been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, and a number of other technologies have completed large multicenter trials(such as AspireA ssist aspiration therapy and Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal). Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and transoral outlet reduction for endoscopic revision of gastric bypass have proven safe and effective in a number of studies. As devices are approved for use, data will continue to accumulate for safety, effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. Bariatric endoscopists should be prepared to appropriately target and apply various endoscopic bariatric therapies in the context of a comprehensive long-term weight management program.

Coupling effect of pond ash and polypropylene fiber on strength and durability of expansive soil subgrades:An integrated experimental and machine learning approach

This study explores the coupling effect of pond ash(PA)and polypropylene(PP)fiber to control the strength and durability of expansive *** PA is used to chemically treat the expansive soil and PP fiber is adopted as reinforcement against tensile *** sustainable use of PA and PP fiber are demonstrated by performing mechanical(*** compressive strength,split tensile strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity),chemical(pH value,electrical conductivity and calcite content),and microstructural analyses before and after 2nd,4th,6th,8th and 10th freezing-thawing(F-T)*** curing methods with 7 d,14 d and 28 d curing periods are considered to reinforce the 5%,10%,15%and 20%PA-stabilized expansive soil with 0.25%,0.5%and 1%PP *** order to develop predictive models for mechanical and durability parameters,the experimental data are processed utilizing artificial neural network(ANN),in association with the leave-one-out cross-validation(LOOCV)as a resampling method and three different activation *** mechanical and durability properties of the PA-stabilized expansive soil subgrades are increased with PP fiber *** results of ANN modeling predict the mechanical properties perfectly,and the correlation coefficient(R)approaches up to 0.96.

Estimation of composite load model with aggregate induction motor dynamic load for an isolated hybrid power system

It is well recognized that the voltage stability of a power system is affected by the load model and hence, to effectively analyze the reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid wind-diesel based power system, the loads need to be considered along with the generators in a transient analysis. This paper gives a detailed mathematical modeling to compute the reactive power response with small voltage perturbation for composite load. The composite load is a combination of the static and dynamic load model. To develop this composite load model, the exponential load is used as a static load model and induction motors （IMs） are used as a dynamic load model. To analyze the dynamics of IM load, the fifth, third and first order model of IM are formulated and compared using differential equations solver in Matlab coding. Since the decentralized areas have many small consumers which may consist large numbers of IMs of small rating, it is not realistic to model either a single large rating unit or all small rating IMs together that are placed in the system. In place of using a single large rating IM, a group of motors are considered and then the aggregate model of IM is developed using the law of energy conservation. This aggregate model is used as a dynamic load model. For different simulation studies, especially in the area of voltage stability with reactive power compensation of an isolated hybrid power system, the transfer function AQ/AV of the composite load is required. The transfer function of the composite load is derived in this paper by successive derivation for the exponential model of static load and for the fifth and third order IM dynamic load model using state space model.
