Cu films with.th.ckness of 630-1300nm were dep.sited on glass substrates with.ut h.ating by DC magnetron sp.ttering in p.re Ar gas. Ar p.essure was controlled to 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5p. resp.ctively. Th. target voltage was fixed at 500V but th. target current increased from 200 to 1150mA with.Ar p.essure increasing. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscop. and atomic force microscop. were used to observe th. structural ch.racterization of th. films. Th. resistivity of th. films was measured using four-p.int p.obe tech.ique. At all th. Ar p.essures, th. Cu films h.ve mixture crystalline orientations of [111], [200] and [220] in th. direction of th. film growth. Th. film dep.sited at lower p.essure sh.ws more [111] orientation wh.le th.t dep.sited at h.gh.r p.essure h.s more [220] orientation. Th. amount of larger grains in th. film p.ep.red at 0.5p. Ar p.essure is sligh.ly less th.n th.t p.ep.red at 1.0p. and 1.5p. Ar p.essures. Th. resistivities of th. films p.ep.red at th.ee different Ar p.essures rep.esent few differences, about 3-4 times of th.t of bulk material. Besides th. dep.sition rate increases with.Ar p.essure because of th. increase in target current. Th. contribution of th. bombardment of energetic reflected Argon atoms to th.se p.0}nomena is discussed.

Sp.cific activity of p.imordial radionuclides and associated radiation h.zards due to 40K, 226Ra, and 232Th.h.ve been measured in backed red brick samp.es, collected from five h.gh.y p.p.lated areas of th. North.West Frontier p.ovince of p.kistan. For th. detection, analysis and data acquisition, a h.gh.p.rity germanium detector was used. Associated external doses were calculated using a Monte Carlo neutron p.0}ton transp.rt code. A th.oretical model to determine th. gamma dose rate at 1 m h.igh. from th. floor, made of bricks, was emp.oyed for th. calculation of mass attenuation coefficient and self-absorp.ion in th. floor for th. gamma energies of th.se radionuclides and th.ir p.ogeny. Monte Carlo simulation sh.ws th.t in th.s study th. floor, h.ving more th.n an effective th.ckness of 15 cm, contributes very little to th. external gamma dose rate. Th. values of th. external dose rate and annual effective dose are found to be much.lower th.n th. world average as well as from oth.r countries of th. world.

A statistical analysis of month.y mean and daily maximum rainfall data at New Delh. during th. mon-soon (June-Sep.ember) p.riod 1940-1980 is p.esented. It h.s been observed th.t a good correlation exists between th. month.y and daily maximum rainfall. A linear regression analysis of th. data is found to be sig nificant for all th. four month.. Some key statistical p.rameters like th. mean values of Coefficient of Vari ability (CV), Relative Variability (RV) and p.rcentage Interannual Variability (p.V) h.ve been studied and found to be at variance. h.wever, th.ir corresp.nding ratios between mean daily maximum and mean month.y rainfall are significantly lower.

Catalyst screening and selection was carried out in dedicated micro-reactors and p.lot p.ants, wh.se designs are critical to th. p.rformance selection. Variation in catalyst comp.sition and defining th. gas to oil feed ratios with.th. op.rating temp.rature are a few of th. p.rameters studied. p.oduct selection and maximizing diesel yield combined with.stability （catalyst life） were th. ultimate drivers. Th. selected catalyst was th.n tested under commercial conditions in a dedicated 300 barrel p.r day demonstration p.ant. Th. p.oducts were also tested in engines to assess th.ir combustion ch.racteristics.

Th. p.stil, th. female rep.oductive organ of p.ants, is a key p.ayer in th. success of sexual p.ant rep.oduction. Ultimately, th. p.oduction of fruits and seeds dep.nds on th. p.op.r p.stil develop.ent and function. Th.refore, th. identification and ch.racterization of p.stil exp.essed genes is essential for a better understanding and manip.lation of th. p.ant rep.oduction p.ocess. For studying th. function of p.stil exp.essed genes, transgenic and/or mutant p.ants for th. genes of interest are used. Th. p.esent article p.ovides a review of meth.ds already exp.oited to analyze sexual rep.oductive success. We intend to sup.ly useful information and to guide future exp.riments in th. study of genes affecting p.stil develop.ent and function.

Th. Melanop.0}la acuminata beetle is attracted to forest fires via a p.ir of infrared sensory organs comp.sed of sensilla. Our h.stological work sh.wed th.t each.sensillum contains lip.d layers surrounding a p.otein layer and a unique p.lysacch.ride base th.t is associated with.a neuron to each.sensillum. Infrared microscop. sh.wed th.t th. p.otein region maximally absorbs infrared radiation at 3 ~tm wavelength.and at 10 ~tm, wh.ch.corresp.nds to th. known radiation p.oduced by forest fires at 3 ~tm. Math.matical calculations sh.wed th.t th. p.0}sical p.op.rties of th. sensilla are such.th.t th. exp.cted temp.rature rise is insufficient for transduction of th. infrared signal th.ough.mech.nical means or as a th.rmal recep.or as p.eviously th.ugh.; h.nce th. p.otein p.ays th. p.votal role in p.rcep.ion of single p.0}tons and transmission of th. signal with.n th. sensilla.

Long-term BVRI p.0}tometric ligh. curves of th. p.e-main sequence stars V977 Cep.and V982 Cep.during th. p.riod from 2000 October to 2016 August are p.esented. Th. stars are located in th. vicinity of th. reflection nebula NGC 7129. Our p.0}tometric data sh.w th.t both.stars exh.bit strong p.0}tometric variability in all op.ical p.ssbands, wh.ch.is typ.cal for Classical T Tauri stars. Using our observational data we analyze th. reasons for th. observed brigh.ness variations. In th. case of V977 Cep.we identify p.eviously unknown p.riodicity in its ligh. curve.
