two patients had a long history of hypertension and one of them also had a nephrotic-range proteinuria secondary to focal segmental scleronephrosis which had been diagnosed by kidney biopsy. they presented with uncontrolled hypertension. Laboratory examination suggested hypersecretion of catecholamines by the left adrenal glands in both patients and primary aldosteronism in one of them. A computed tomography scan revealed small nodules on left adrenal gland in both patients. Patients underwent laparoscopic left adrenalectomy. After surgery, blood pressure was normalized and proteinuria was resolved. Most interestingly, prominent adipocytes infiltrated were detected in the adrenal cortex and were associated with the presence of lymphocytes, which suggested that adipocytes might have a role in the pathogenesis of these diseases in our patients.

AIM to investigate the role of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer and determine surgical, clinical, and oncological outcomes.MEtHODS this is a propensity score-matched case-control study, comparing three treatment arms: robotic gastrectomy(RG), laparoscopic gastrectomy(LG), open gastrectomy(OG). Data collection started after sharing a specific study protocol. Data were recorded through a tailored and protected web-based system. Primary outcomes: harvested lymph nodes, estimated blood loss, hospital stay, complications rate. Among the secondary outcomes, there are: operative time, R0 resections, POD of mobilization, POD of starting liquid diet and soft solid diet. the analysis includes the evaluation of type and grade of postoperative complications. Detailed information of anastomotic leakages is also provided.RESULtS the present analysis was carried out of 1026 gastrectomies. to guarantee homogenous distribution of cases, patients in the RG, LG and OG groups were 1:1:2 matched using a propensity score analysis with a caliper = 0.2. the successful matching resulted in a total sample of 604 patients(RG = 151; LG = 151; OG = 302). the three groups showed no differences in all baseline patients characteristics, type of surgery(P = 0.42) and stage of the disease(P = 0.16). Intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower in the LG(95.93 ± 119.22) and RG(117.91 ± 68.11) groups compared to the OG(127.26 ± 79.50, P = 0.002). the mean number of retrieved lymph nodes was similar between the RG(27.78 ± 11.45), LG(24.58 ± 13.56) and OG(25.82 ± 12.07) approach. A benefit in favor of the minimally invasive approaches was found in the length of hospital stay(P tions rate was found(P = 0.13). the leakage rate was not different(P = 0.78) between groups.CONCLUSION Laparoscopic and robotic surgery can be safely performed and proposed as possible alternative to open surgery. the main highlighted benefit is a faster postoperative functional recovery.

this study presents the Chebyshev polynomials-based Ritz method to examine the thermal buckling and free vibration characteristics of metal foam beams.the analyses include three models for porosity distribution and two scenarios for thermal distribution.the material properties are assessed under two conditions,i.e.,temperature dependence and temperature independence.the theoretical framework for the beams is based on the higher-order shear deformation theory,which incorporates shear deformations with higher-order polynomials.the governing equations are established from the Lagrange equations,and the beam displacement fields are approximated by the Chebyshev polynomials.Numerical simulations are performed to evaluate the effects of thermal load,slenderness,boundary condition(BC),and porosity distribution on the buckling and vibration behaviors of metal foam beams.the findings highlight the significant influence of temperature-dependent(tD)material properties on metal foam beams'buckling and vibration responses.

Facial wound segmentation plays a crucial role in preoperative planning and optimizing patient outcomes in various medical applications.In this paper,we propose an efficient approach for automating 3D facial wound segmentation using a two-stream graph convolutional network.Our method leverages the Cir3D-FaIR dataset and addresses the challenge of data imbalance through extensive experimentation with different loss functions.to achieve accurate segmentation,we conducted thorough experiments and selected a high-performing model from the trainedmodels.the selectedmodel demonstrates exceptional segmentation performance for complex 3D facial wounds.Furthermore,based on the segmentation model,we propose an improved approach for extracting 3D facial wound fillers and compare it to the results of the previous study.Our method achieved a remarkable accuracy of 0.9999993% on the test suite,surpassing the performance of the previous method.From this result,we use 3D printing technology to illustrate the shape of the wound filling.the outcomes of this study have significant implications for physicians involved in preoperative planning and intervention design.By automating facial wound segmentation and improving the accuracy ofwound-filling extraction,our approach can assist in carefully assessing and optimizing interventions,leading to enhanced patient outcomes.Additionally,it contributes to advancing facial reconstruction techniques by utilizing machine learning and 3D bioprinting for printing skin tissue implants.Our source code is available at https://***/SIMOGroup/WoundFilling3D.

the paper introduces a novel approach for detecting structural damage in full-scale structures using surrogate models generated from incomplete modal data and deep neural networks(DNNs).A significant challenge in this field is the limited availability of measurement data for full-scale structures,which is addressed in this paper by generating data sets using a reduced finite element(FE)model constructed by SAP2000 software and the MAtLAB programming loop.the surrogate models are trained using response data obtained from the monitored structure through a limited number of measurement devices.the proposed approach involves training a single surrogate model that can quickly predict the location and severity of damage for all potential scenarios.to achieve the most generalized surrogate model,the study explores different types of layers and hyperparameters of the training algorithm and employs state-of-the-art techniques to avoid overfitting and to accelerate the training process.the approach’s effectiveness,efficiency,and applicability are demonstrated by two numerical examples.the study also verifies the robustness of the proposed approach on data sets with sparse and noisy measured data.Overall,the proposed approach is a promising alternative to traditional approaches that rely on FE model updating and optimization algorithms,which can be computationally intensive.this approach also shows potential for broader applications in structural damage detection.

目的：评价电针联合其他药物在甲状腺全切除术中提供镇痛和稳定血流动力学参数的有效性和安全性。方法：该随机对照试验囊括了100例患者，这些患者于2022年10月至2023年10月在越南国立针灸医院接受了甲状腺全切除术。患者被随机分为了两组。电针镇痛组（EA）对合谷穴（LI 4）、内关穴（PC 6）、水突穴（St 10）、缺盆穴（St 12）、翳风穴（SJ 17）5个穴位进行了电针刺激，对照组患者进行了双侧浅表颈丛神经阻滞。主要结局包括两组患者的镇痛水平和围手术期生命体征。此外，测定了EA组患者电针前后的疼痛阈值和血清β-内啡肽水平。结果：EA组和对照组分别有86%和76%的患者达到完全镇痛（A级），两组间无显著差异（P=1.00）。EA组患者接受EA后平均疼痛阈值翻倍（648.7(77.4) g/s vs. 305.3 (45.3) g/s, P t 10、St 12和SJ 17，在甲状腺全切除术中耐受良好，有效地维持了适当的镇痛水平和血流动力学稳定性。

this paper focuses on obtaining the traveling wave solutions of the nonlinear Gilson-Pickering equa-tion(GPE),which describes the prorogation of waves in crystal lattice theory and plasma physics.the solution of the GPE is approximated via the finite difference technique and the localized meshless radial basis function generated finite difference.the association of the technique results in a meshless approach that does not require linearizing the nonlinear terms.At the first step,the PDE is converted to a system of nonlinear ODEs with the help of the radial kernels.In the second step,a high-order ODE solver is adopted to discretize the nonlinear ODE system.the global collocation techniques pose a considerable computationl burden due to the calculation of the dense algebraic system.the proposed method approx-imates differential operators over the local support domain,leading to sparse differentiation matrices and decreasing the computational burden.Numerical results and comparisons are provided to confirm the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

EP Aquarii:A New Picture of the Circumstellar Envelope

New analyses of earlier ALMA observations of oxygen-rich AGB star EP Aquarii are presented,which complete a previously published analysis and offer a different interpretation of the morpho-kinematics of the circumstellar envelope.the birth of the equatorial density enhancement(EDE)is shown to occur very close to the star where evidence for rotation has been obtained.Close to the star and where outflows have been observed:their interaction with the gas of the nascent EDE is seen to play an important role in the development of the wind and the evolution of its radial velocity from 8 to 10 km s^(-1) on the polar symmetry axis to~2 km s^(-1) at the equator.It implies complex morpho-kinematics:making reliable interpretations with reasonable confidence is difficult.In particular,it questions an earlier interpretation implying the presence of a white dwarf companion orbiting the star at an angular distance of -0″4 from its center.It proposes instead an interpretation in terms of a standard mass ejection associated with a shock wave leaving a void of emission in its wake.High Doppler velocity wings are seen to consist of two components,the upper velocity end of the global wind,reaching above±12 km s^(-1),and an effective line broadening,confined within 200 mas from the center of the star,reaching above±20 km s^(-1) and interpreted as caused by the pattern of shock waves resulting from the interaction between stellar pulsation and convective cell partition.

the aggregation of amyloid-beta peptide and tau protein dysregulation are implicated to play key roles in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and are considered the main pathological hallmarks of this devastating disease. Physiologically, these two proteins are produced and expressed within the normal human body. However, under pathological conditions, abnormal expression, posttranslational modifications, conformational changes, and truncation can make these proteins prone to aggregation, triggering specific disease-related cascades. Recent studies have indicated associations between aberrant behavior of amyloid-beta and tau proteins and various neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as retinal neurodegenerative diseases like Glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. Additionally, these proteins have been linked to cardiovascular disease, cancer, traumatic brain injury, and diabetes, which are all leading causes of morbidity and mortality. In this comprehensive review, we provide an overview of the connections between amyloid-beta and tau proteins and a spectrum of disorders.

OBJECtIVE:to evaluate the effectiveness of cycling in combination with electroacupuncture in treatment of poststroke hemiplegia patients at National Hospital of Acupuncture,Vietnam.MEtHODS:the study was designed as a single-centre,outcome-assessor-blinded parallel randomised controlled trial with 120 post-stroke hemiplegia patients randomly assigned into two groups:electroacupuncture plus cycling(Ct group) and electroacupuncture(At group).Patients were assessed before and after the treatment(using muscle grading,modified Rankin,Barthel,Orgorozo scores and electromyography).Statistical Man–Whitney U test,and Fisher’s exact tests were used to compare between Ct and At groups.RESULtS:the results reported statistically significant improvement in motor function in patients suffering from hemiplegia following ischemic stroke in both Ct and At groups.Patients in Ct group experienced a greater improvement compared to those in At group including better muscle contraction(increased frequency and amplitude of electromyography and increased muscle grading scale);increased recovery(Orgogozo scale),increased independency(Barthel scale) and decreased disability(Modified Rankin scale)(P tion with cycling training significantly improves the recovery of post-stroke patients treated with electroacupuncture.
