Glycerol(electrochemical) oxidation reaction(GOR) producing organic small molecule acid and coupling with hydrogen evolution reaction is a critical aspect of ensuring balanced glycerol capacity and promoting hydrogen generation on a large scale. However, the development of highly efficient and selective non-noble metal-based GOR electrocatalysts is still a key problem. Here, an S-doped CuO nanorod array catalyst(S-CuO/CF) constructed by sulfur leaching and oxidative remodeling is used to drive GOR at low potentials: It requires potentials of only 1.23 and 1.33 V versus RHE to provide currents of 100 and 500 mA cm^(-2), respectively. Moreover, it shows satisfactory comprehensive performance(at 100 mA cm^(-2), V_(cell) = 1.37 V) when assembled as the anode in asymmetric coupled electrolytic cell. Furthermore, we propose a detailed cycle reaction pathway(in alkaline environment) of S-doped CuO surface promoting GOR to produce formic acid and glycolic acid. Among them, the C–C bond breaking and lattice oxygen deintercalation steps frequently involved in the reaction pathway are the key factors to determine the catalytic performance and product selectivity. This research provides valuable guidance for the development of transition metal-based electrocatalysts for GOR and valuable insights into the glycerol oxidation cycle reaction pathway.

High hydrostatic pressure,low temperature,and scarce food supply are the major factors that limit the survival of vertebrates in extreme deep-sea environments.Here,we constructed a high-quality genome of the deep-sea Muddy arrowtooth eel(MAE,Ilyophis brunneus,captured below a depth of 3,500 m)by using Illumina,Pac Bio,and Hi-C sequencing.We compare it against those of shallow-water eel and other outgroups to explore the genetic basis that underlies the adaptive evolution to deep-sea biomes.The MAE genome was estimated to be 1.47 Gb and assembled into 14 pseudo-chromosomes.Phylogenetic analyses indicated that MAE diverged from its closely related shallow-sea species,European eel,~111.9 Mya and experienced a rapid evolution.The genome evolutionary analyses primarily revealed the following:(i)under high hydrostatic pressure,the positively selected gene TUBGCP3 and the expanded family MLC1 may improve the cytoskeleton stability;ACOX1 may enhance the fluidity of cell membrane and maintain transport activity;the expansion of ABCC12 gene family may enhance the integrity of DNA;(ii)positively selected HARS likely maintain the transcription ability at low temperatures;and(iii)energy metabolism under a food-limited environment may be increased by expanded and positively selected genes in AMPK and m TOR signaling pathways.

Tetanic stimulation of the sciatic nerve （TSS） triggers long-term potentiation in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and long-lasting pain hypersensitivity. CX3CL1- CX3CR1 signaling is an important pathway in neuronal- microglial activation. Nuclear factor nB （NF-KB） is a key signal transduction molecule that regulates neuroinflamma- tion and neuropathic pain. Here, we set out to determine whether and how NF-~B and CX3CR1 are involved in the mechanism underlying the pathological changes induced by TSS. After unilateral TSS, significant bilateral mechanical allodynia was induced, as assessed by the von Frey test. The expression of phosphorylated NF-nB （pNF-nB） and CX3CR1 was significantly up-regulated in the bilateral dorsal horn. Immunofluorescence staining demonstrated that pNF-κB and NeuN co-existed, implying that the NF-κB pathway is predominantly activated in neurons following TSS. Administration of either the NF-κB inhibitor ammo- nium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate or a CX3CR1-neutralizing antibody blocked the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain. In addition, blockade of NF-κB down- regulated the expression of CX3CL1-CX3CR1 signaling,and conversely the CX3CRl-neutralizing antibody also down-regulated pNF-rd3. These findings suggest an involvement of NF-κB and the CX3CR1 signaling network in the development and maintenance of TSS-induced mechanical allodynia. Our work suggests the potential clinical application of NF-κB inhibitors or CX3CR 1-neutralizing antibodies in treating pathological pain.

Expression of MMP-2 in residual VX2 liver tumor after transcatheter arterial embolization combined with portal venous embolization in an animal model

Objective:This study aimed to analyze the effects of transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE)combined with portal venous embolization(PVE)on the expression of MMP-2 in residual VX2 liver tumor tissues,liver function and non-embolic lobe regeneration.Methods:A total of 72 rabbits were randomly divided into Sham,TAE,PVE and TAE+PVE groups(n=18/group).The tissue samples from each group were taken at 6 h,3 days and 7 days after interventional operation,respectively.MMP-2 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry,Real-time PCR,and Western-blotting.The main indicators(such as AST,ATL,and TBIL)of liver function and the volume of non-embolized hepatic lobes were measured in each group after operation.One-way ANOVA and Kruskal-wallis method were used for statistical analysis.Results:The expression of MMP-2 mRNA and protein remained the highest in the Sham group,and the expression of MMP-2 mRNA and protein in TAE,PVE and TAE+PVE groups were successively increased,and the expression of MMP-2 in TAE+PVE group was always significantly higher than TAE group.The AST and ALT levels in each group on day 7 after operation showed a significant declination,and all groups have recovered to the preoperative baseline level and TBIL has a slight fluctuation in each group after operation with no statistical difference.On day 7 after operation,the increasing volume of non-embolized liver lobes in TAE+PVE group showed a more significant effect than those in PVE group,but there was no statistical significance(37.62±1.54 ml VS 36.18±1.15 ml,P=0.881),and its volume was significantly higher than those in the sham group(27.03±1.11 ml).Conclusion:TAE+PVE is considered to be an efficient and safe approach for treating rabbit VX2 liver transplantation tumor,but the expression of MMP-2 increased fastest after TAE+PVE,which might promote tumor cell invasion and metastasis.

基于安徽省统计数据,对建设用地碳排放量进行测度,然后运用扩展的Kaya等式和LMDI法对建设用地碳排放驱动因素进行分解,进一步对脱钩效应及其贡献因子进行分析。结果表明:自2000年以来,安徽省建设用地规模以年均4.8%的速度不断扩张,同时,建设用地碳排放以年均12.87%的速度激增,到2019年达到747.23万吨。建设用地碳排放增加的驱动因素按贡献大小排序依次是能源强度、建设用地规模、经济增长和城市人口密度,促进建设用地碳排放减少的因素是产业结构和能源结构。建设用地碳排放与经济增长呈现弱脱钩,对脱钩经济增长努力有效的五大因素按贡献大小排序依次是能源结构、产业结构、建设用地规模、能源强度和城市人口密度。调整能源结构、优化产业结构和调控建设用地规模等可成为未来安徽省抑制建设用地碳排放应优先考虑并重点采取的有效措施。

BACKGROUND Isolated gastrointestinal venous malformations(GIVMs)are extremely rare congenital developmental abnormalities of the venous vasculature.Because of their asymptomatic nature,the diagnosis is often quite challenging.However,as symptomatic GIVMs have nonspecific clinical manifestations,misdiagnosis is very common.Here,we report a case of isolated diffuse GIVMs inducing mechanical intestinal obstruction.A literature review was also conducted to summarize clinical features,diagnostic points,treatment selections and differential diagnosis in order that doctors may have a comprehensive understanding of this disease.CASE SUMMARY A 50-year-old man presented with recurrent painless gastrointestinal bleeding for two months and failure to pass flatus and defecate with nausea and vomiting for ten days.Digital rectal examination found bright red blood and soft nodular masses 3 cm above the anal verge.Computed tomography showed that part of the descending colon and rectosigmoid colon was thickened with phleboliths in the intestinal wall.Colonoscopy exhibited bluish and reddish multinodular submucosal masses and flat submucosal serpentine vessels.Endoscopic ultrasonography showed anechoic cystic spaces within intestinal wall.The lesions were initially thought to be isolated VMs involving part of the descending colon and rectosigmoid colon.Laparoscopic subtotal proctocolectomy,pullthrough transection and coloanal anastomosis and ileostomy were performed.Histopathology revealed intact mucosa and dilated,thin-walled blood vessels in the submucosa,muscularis,and serosa involving the entire colorectum.The patient recovered with complete symptomatic relief during the 52-mo follow-up period.CONCLUSION The diagnosis of isolated GIVMs is challenging.The information presented here is significant for the diagnosis and management of symptoms.
