Chasing in virtual environment:Dynamic alignment for multi-user collaborative redirected walking

Background The redirected walking (RDW) method for multi-user collaboration requires maintaining the relative position between users in a virtual environment (VE) and physical environment (PE). A chasing game in a VE is a typical virtual reality game that entails multi-user collaboration. When a user approaches and interacts with a target user in the VE, the user is expected to approach and interact with the target user in the corresponding PE as well. Existing methods of multi-user RDW mainly focus on obstacle avoidance, which does not account for the relative positional relationship between the users in both VE and PE. Methods To enhance the user experience and facilitate potential interaction, this paper presents a novel dynamic alignment algorithm for multi-user collaborative redirected walking (DA-RDW) in a shared PE where the target user and other users are moving. This algorithm adopts improved artificial potential fields, where the repulsive force is a function of the relative position and velocity of the user with respect to dynamic obstacles. For the best alignment, this algorithm sets the alignment-guidance force in several cases and then converts it into a constrained optimization problem to obtain the optimal direction. Moreover, this algorithm introduces a potential interaction object selection strategy for a dynamically uncertain environment to speed up the subsequent alignment. To balance obstacle avoidance and alignment, this algorithm uses the dynamic weightings of the virtual and physical distances between users and the target to determine the resultant force vector. Results The efficacy of the proposed method was evaluated using a series of simulations and live-user experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that our novel dynamic alignment method for multi-user collaborative redirected walking can reduce the distance error in both VE and PE to improve alignment with fewer collisions.

The dependence on outer light source strongly hinders clinical applications of photodynamic therapy(PDT)to the deep-seated ***,the majority of documented PDT systems that function without the external light source rely on either the chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer(CRET)or fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET)mechanism,which decreases the energy transfer efficiency and reproducibility of ***,we developed a novel single-molecule triplet photosensitizer(iodoBodipy(IBDP)-L)that can be chemiexcited to triplet excited state to generate reactive oxygen species instead of outer light *** direct bonding of phthalhydrazid moiety to iodoBodipy fluorophore evoked valid intramolecular energy transfer(IET),and once phthalhydrazid part is activated by hydrogen peroxide,the released reaction energy could excite the iodoBodipy-phthalhydrazid conjugate as a *** product IBDP-L-COOH showed high triplet state quantum yield(ΦT=65%)and large spin-orbit coupling.A large amount of reactive oxygen species(ROS)was produced in MCF-7 cells,thus inhibiting the cell growth both in vitro and in vivo after IBDP-L was formulated into nanoparticles(NPs)via *** believe that the synthesized IodoBodipy-phthalhydrazid conjugate based on the IET mechanism will open a new door in the molecular design of efficient triplet photosensitizers for treating deeply seated tumors in the future.

Spinal astrocyte-derived interleukin-17A promotes pain hypersensitivity in bone cancer mice

Spinal microglia and astrocytes are both involved in neuropathic and inflammatory pain,which may display sexual ***,we demonstrate that the sustained activation of spinal astrocytes and astrocyte-derived interleukin(IL)-17A promotes the progression of mouse bone cancer pain without sex *** or pharmacological inhibition of spinal astrocytes effectively ameliorates bone cancer-induced pain-like *** contrast,chemogenetic or optogenetic activation of spinal astrocytes triggers pain hypersensitivity,implying that bone cancer-induced astrocytic activation is involved in the development of bone cancer ***-17A expression predominantly in spinal astro-cytes,whereas its receptor IL-17 receptor A(IL-17RA)was mainly detected in neurons expressing VGLUT2 and PAX2,and a few in astrocytes expressing *** knockdown of IL-17A in spinal astrocytes blocked and delayed the development of bone cancer ***-17A overexpression in spinal astrocytes directly induced thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia,which could be rescued by CaMKIIa ***,selective knockdown IL-17RA in spinal Vglut2^(+)or Vgat^(+)neurons,but not in astrocytes,significantly blocked the bone cancer-induced ***,our findings pro-vide evidence for the crucial role of sex-independent astrocytic signaling in bone cancer *** spinal astrocytes and IL-17A/IL-17RA-CaMKIIa signaling may offer new gender-inclusive therapeutic strategies for managing bone cancer pain.

A self-adaptive inorganic in-situ separator by particle crosslinking for nonflammable lithium-ion batteries

All-safe liquid-state lithium-ion batteries(ASLS-LIBs) is of great interest as they can potentially combine the safety of all-solid-state batteries with the high performance and low manufacturing cost of traditional liquid-state LIBs. However, the practical success of ASLS-LIBs is bottlenecked by the lack of advanced separator technology that can simultaneously realize high performances in puncturing-tolerability,fire-resistance, and importantly, wetting-capability with non-flammable liquid-electrolytes. Here, we propose a concept of inorganic in-situ separator(IISS) by hybrid-sol physical crosslinking directly onto the electrode surface to address the above challenges. Particularly, the hybrid-sol is designed with silica nanoparticles as the building block and poly(vinylidene difluoride) nanoparticles as the crosslinking agent. The critical factors for controlling the IISS microstructures and properties have been systematically investigated. The advantages of the IISS have been confirmed by its fast wetting with various fireresistant liquid-electrolytes, customizable thickness and porous structures, robust interface with planar or three-dimensional(3D)-structured electrodes, and importantly, unexpected self-adaptability against puncturing. Enabled by the above merits, a fire-resistant ASLS-LIB is successfully assembled and demonstrated with stable electrochemical performance. This sol-crosslinked IISS may open an avenue for the studies on the next-generation separator technology, cell assembling, solid electrolyte processing as well as non-flammable secondary batteries.

Involvement of NF-κB and the CX3CR1 Signaling Network in Mechanical Allodynia Induced by Tetanic Sciatic Stimulation

Tetanic stimulation of the sciatic nerve （TSS） triggers long-term potentiation in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord and long-lasting pain hypersensitivity. CX3CL1- CX3CR1 signaling is an important pathway in neuronal- microglial activation. Nuclear factor nB （NF-KB） is a key signal transduction molecule that regulates neuroinflamma- tion and neuropathic pain. Here, we set out to determine whether and how NF-~B and CX3CR1 are involved in the mechanism underlying the pathological changes induced by TSS. After unilateral TSS, significant bilateral mechanical allodynia was induced, as assessed by the von Frey test. The expression of phosphorylated NF-nB （pNF-nB） and CX3CR1 was significantly up-regulated in the bilateral dorsal horn. Immunofluorescence staining demonstrated that pNF-κB and NeuN co-existed, implying that the NF-κB pathway is predominantly activated in neurons following TSS. Administration of either the NF-κB inhibitor ammo- nium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate or a CX3CR1-neutralizing antibody blocked the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain. In addition, blockade of NF-κB down- regulated the expression of CX3CL1-CX3CR1 signaling,and conversely the CX3CRl-neutralizing antibody also down-regulated pNF-rd3. These findings suggest an involvement of NF-κB and the CX3CR1 signaling network in the development and maintenance of TSS-induced mechanical allodynia. Our work suggests the potential clinical application of NF-κB inhibitors or CX3CR 1-neutralizing antibodies in treating pathological pain.

The ureido-modification of the resin-bound a luteinizing hormone releasing hormone （LHRH） analogue was investigated by CDI-activating method. The amino group at the side chain of LHRH analogue could be transformed into various substituted urea moieties in high yields. However, its terminal amino group was partially converted to a hydantoin structure due to the attack of the N atom of the adjacent amide bond.

Regulation of Cued Fear Expression via Corticotropin-ReleasingFactor Neurons in the Ventral Anteromedial Thalamic Nucleus

The ventral part of the anteromedial thalamic nucleus(AMv)is in a position to convey information to the cortico-hippocampal-amygdalar circuit involved in the processing of fear ***-releasing-factor(CRF)neurons are closely associated with the regulation of stress and ***,few studies have focused on the role of thalamic CRF neurons in fear *** the present study,using a conditioned fear paradigm in CRF transgenic mice,we found that the c-Fos protein in the AMv CRF neurons was significantly increased after cued fear *** activation of AMv CRF neurons enhanced cued fear expression,whereas inhibition had the opposite effect on the cued fear ***,chemogenetic manipulation of AMv CRF neurons did not affect fear acquisition or contextual fear *** addition,anterograde tracing of projections revealed that AMv CRF neurons project to wide areas of the cerebral cortex and the limbic *** results uncover a critical role of AMv CRF neurons in the regulation of conditioned fear memory.

肝纤维化(Hepatic fibrosis,HF)是各种慢性肝病向肝硬化进展的必经阶段,不及时治疗将发展为肝硬化,甚至肝癌。因此,延缓或逆转HF具有重要临床意义。目前,西医尚无针对HF治疗的特效药物,故寻找新的治疗方案势在必行。TGF-β1/Smad信号通路是影响HF进展的关键通路,本文以TGF-β1/Smad信号通路为切入点,梳理、总结近年来该信号通路对炎症反应、细胞凋亡、氧化应激、细胞自噬、细胞外基质失衡等HF病理过程的调控作用,并对中药通过抑制TGF-β1/Smad信号通路治疗HF的相关研究予以综述,旨在揭示中药的作用靶点,为中医药防治HF及其现代化研究提供新的思路和策略。
