Distraction osteogenesis(DO) is widely used for bone tissue engineering technology. Immune regulations play important roles in the process of DO like other bone regeneration mechanisms. Compared with others, the immune regulation processes of DO have their distinct features. In this review, we summarized the immune-related events including changes in and effects of immune cells, immune-related cytokines, and signaling pathways at different periods in the process of DO. We aim to elucidated our understanding and unknowns about the immunomodulatory role of DO. The goal of this is to use the known knowledge to further modify existing methods of DO, and to develop novel DO strategies in our unknown areas through more detailed studies of the work we have done.

Various novel carbonaceous materials including carbon nanotubes,nano-onions,carbon microspheres,graphene nanosheets,and carbon microfibers with unique properties,such as tunable surface area and pore size,high chemical stability,cost-effective and facile preparation,have attracted enormous interest for many applications.Also essential,the activation processes play a critical role to achieve these valuable properties.In this review,we provide a thorough analysis of the emerging nano-and microscopic carbon species with special morphology/textures and currently available types of chemical activation agents,and novel activation strategy to enhance electrochemical performance of activated carbon material in electrical energy storage devices including supercapacitor and alkaline ions batteries.A particular emphasis is set on recent advance in activated carbon materials with special morphology/textures for supercapacitors and sodium ion batteries.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)has been used in atmospheric aerosol detection as it enables the high-resolution analysis of particulate matter.However,its use in the detection of historical samples without damaging the sampling membrane while achieving effective transfer and the high-sensitivity analysis of particulate matter from sample films remains challenging.In this study,a new type of SERS tape was developed,consisting of Au nanoparticles(NPs)on an adhesive double-sided Cu film(DCu).The enhanced electromagnetic field generated by the coupled resonance of the local surface plasmon resonances of AuNPs and DCu led to an enhanced SERS signal with an experimental enhancement factor of 10^(7).The AuNPs were semi-embedded and distributed on the substrate,and the viscous DCu layer was exposed,enabling particle transfer.The substrates exhibited good uniformity and favorable reproducibility with relative standard deviations of 13.53%and 9.74%respectively,and the substrates could be stored for 180 days with no signs of signal weakening.The application of the substrates was demonstrated by the extraction and detection of malachite green and ammonium salt particulate matter.The results demonstrated that SERS substrates based on AuNPs and DCu are highly promising in real–world environmental particle monitoring and detection.

Vertically stacking two-dimensional(2D)materials with small azimuthal deviation or lattice mismatch generate distinctive global structural periodicity and symmetry,revealed as the moirésuperlattices(MSLs).Manipulating the interlayer twist angle enables the modification of the electronic structure of 2D materials to explore the advanced applications.Although extraordinary progress has been achieved in the unique structure and emergent properties of MSLs,the investigation of the catalytic applications of MSLs materials is still in its infancy.It is therefore very urgent to summarize the advanced development of MSLs in the field of catalysis.In this review,we firstly summarize the advanced fabrication and high-resolution characterization techniques of the MSLs materials,as well as their novel properties related to catalysis represented by electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Then,all the MSLs materials such as MoS_(2),WS_(2),and Ru serving as electrocatalysts for HER are further reviewed in detail.Finally,we outline the current challenges as well as the experimental and theoretical strategies to advance the development of function-oriented MSLs materials for catalysis.This review aims to provide profound insight into the wide applications of this novel material platform in catalytic field.

Limestone calcined clay cement(LC3)is an environment-friendly and sustainable cementitious material.It has recently gained considerable attention for the stabilization/solidification(S/S)of soils contaminated by heavy metals.However,the existing studies on S/S of Zn-contaminated soils using LC3 in terms of hydraulic conductivity and microstructural properties as compared to ordinary Portland cement(OPC)are limited.This study focuses on the evaluation of the mechanical,leaching,and microstructural characteristics of Zn-contaminated soils treated with different contents(0%,4%,6%,8%,and 10%)of low-carbon LC3.The engineering performance of the treated Zn-contaminated soils is assessed over time using unconfined compressive strength(UCS),hydraulic conductivity(k),toxicity characteristic leaching procedure(TCLP),and synthetic precipitation leaching procedure(SPLP)tests.Experimental results show that the UCS of Zn-contaminated soils treated with LC3 ranged from 1.47 to 2.49 MPa,which is higher than 1.63%–13.07%for those treated with OPC.The k of Zn-contaminated soils treated with LC3 ranged from 1.16×10^(−8)to 5.18×10^(−8)cm/s as compared to the OPC treated samples.For the leaching properties,the leached Zn from TCLP and SPLP is 1.58–321.10 mg/L and 0.52–284.65 mg/L as the LC3 contents ranged from 4%to 10%.Further,the corresponding pH modeling results indicate that LC3 promotes a relatively suitable dynamic equilibrium condition to immobilize the higher-level Zn contamination.In addition,microscopic analyses demonstrate that the formations of hydration products,i.e.,Zn(OH)_(2),Zn_(2)SiO_(4),calcium silicate hydrate(C–S–H),calcium silicate aluminate hydrate(C–A–S–H)gel,ettringite,and CaZn(SiO_(4))(H_(2)O),are the primary mechanisms for the immobilization of Zn.This study also provides an empirical formula between the UCS and k to support the application of LC3-solidified Zn-contaminated soils in practical engineering in the field.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the value of the combined expression of the gastric mucosal differentiation protein pepsinogen C(PGC) and gastric cancer(GC)-associated antigen MG7 for the diagnosis of GC and prediction of the development from precancerous conditions to GC.Methods: The gastric mucosal biopsies of 285 subjects enrolled from a region with a high incidence of GC were obtained and histopathologically examined. Subjects testing negative for GC(n=208) were followed up from 1998 to 2015. The levels of PGC and MG7 in the biopsies were determined by immunohistochemistry.Results: PGC was positive in 91.4% of the non-atrophic gastritis, 26.5% of the atrophic gastritis, and 0% of the GC. MG7 was positive in 15.0% of the non-atrophic gastritis, 82.4% of the atrophic gastritis, and 94.8% of the GC. The non-atrophic gastritis group was predominantly "PGC+MG7-". The atrophic gastritis and GC groups were predominantly "PGC-MG7+". The rate of GC in subjects with "PGC-MG7+" staining was 113.4-fold higher [95% confidence interval(95% CI): 15.3-869.4, Pning patterns.The sensitivity and specificity of the "PGC-MG7+" pattern were 92.2% and 78.8% for the detection of GC and77.2% and 97.9% for GC and precancerous disease, respectively. In the follow-up cohort of non-GC subjects, the risk of developing GC was higher in those with the "PGC-MG7+" staining pattern.Conclusions: Our data suggest that the "PGC-MG7+" pattern can be employed as a useful follow-up panel for detecting individuals with a high risk of GC, and the dynamic assessment of the follow-up panel needs multi-centre large-scale validation in the future.

Fabrication and characterization of epoxylated zwitterionic copolymergrafted silica nanoparticle as a new support for lipase immobilization

Our previous work proved that the thermal stability of Candida rugosa lipase(CRL)immobilized on zwitterionic polymer(poly(carboxybetaine methacrylate))grafted silica nanoparticle(SNP)was much higher than that on poly(glycidyl methecrylate)(pGMA)grafted SNP,while the latter showed significantly increased activity.Inspired by the research,we have herein proposed to synthesize copolymers of zwitterionic sulfobetaine methacrylate(SBMA)and GMA for CRL immobilization.The copolymers were grafted onto SNP surface at three GMA/SBMA(G/S)molar ratios(G100/S0,G50/S50,G10/S90),followed by the covalent coupling of CRL to the surface copolymers.The immobilized CRLs on the corresponding supports were denoted as p(G100-S0)-CRL,p(G50-S50)-CRL and p(G10-S90)-CRL.The enzyme loading increased with the increase of GMA content in the copolymer,while the activity varied with the grafted copolymer composition.Kinetic study proved the improvement of enzyme-substrate affinity after immobilization.In comparison to p(G100-S0)-CRL,p(G50-S50)-CRL and p(G10-S90)-CRL presented remarkably enhanced thermal stability and pH tolerance,and p(G10-S90)-CRL showed the highest stability.These results suggest that the copolymer design is promising for development as a versatile platform for enzyme immobilization.

Hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)fillers are incorporated into poly(vinyl butyral)(PVB)coatings to improve the corrosion protection performance of copper.It has been revealed that the h-BN fillers exhibit an excellent dispersiblility in PVB coating due to the non-covalent interactions between h-BN fillers and the PVB molecules.Electrochemical characterization reveals that the corrosion resistance of the BN-reinforced PVB(BN-P)coating is 5-6 orders of magnitude higher than that of the pristine PVB coating.Photographs and metallography show that the copper substrate beneath the BN-P coating does not suffer from corrosion after immersion for 2 months,indicating that the BN-P coating can provide a long-term protective barrier for the underlying copper substrate.Loading 0-0.25 g h-BN fillers in 2.0 g PVB,the corrosion protection performance increases with increasing the loading of h-BN fillers.The scratch test results suggest that h-BN fillers do not accelerate copper corrosion when the BN-P coating is damaged.
