Nanoparticles(NPs)can be transported via the nose-to-brain(N_(2)b)***,quantitative data on their spatiotemporal dynamics and regulation of the N_(2)b transport are largely *** surveyed metal oxide/hydroxide NPs as magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)contrasts for quantitative N_(2)b *** containing divalent transition metals were the only ones capable of N_(2)b *** T1-weighted(T1W)MRI,we showed that Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were readily engulfed by olfactory receptor neurons(ORNs)without disrupting olfactory sensing,we mapped their N_(2)b *** neurons,the Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were localized to the cytosol,mitochondria,vesicles,moved at mixed fast and slow axonal transport velocities intraand extra-vesicularly through *** NPs’axonal transport is dependent on neuronal activity and microtubule *** Mn_(3)O_(4)-NPs were trans-synaptically transmitted through at least four synapses across the olfactory ***-synaptic transmission of the NPs was dependent on N-type Ca^(2+)channels and NMDA receptors but blocked by GAbAb receptor activation.A five-parameter Weibull signal increase/decrease model fitted to the T1W MRI data allowed for estimating kinetic parameters of Mn_(3)O_(4)-NP accumulation/*** and relative accumulation rates,but not elimination,correlated negatively with the number of synapses from ORNs,indicating a coupling of the NPs’N_(2)b transport with spontaneous neuronal ***,olfactory stimuli(2,5-dimethylpyrazine and acetophenone)significantly modulated and rerouted the Mn_(3)O_(4)-NP N_(2)b transport odor ***,the NPs’trans-synaptic transmission was impaired by aging and the onset of Parkinson’s *** data suggest new approaches to diagnostics,functional neuroimaging,controlling N_(2)b drug delivery.

The formation of charge transfer complex between iodine with 4＇-nitrobenzo-15-crown-5（Nb15C5） and benzo-15-crown-5 （b15C5） is investigated spectrophotometrically in chloroform and dichloromethane（DCM） solutions at 25℃.The pseudo-first-order rate constants for the transformation process were evaluated from the absorbance-time data and found to vary in the order of DCM CHCl_*** values of the formation constant,K_f,for each complex are evaluated from benesi-Hilebrand equation. Stability of the resulting complex in two solvents was also found to vary in the order of DCM CHCl_3.

broccoli sprouts juice prevents lens protein aggregation in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat

AIM: To investigate the effect of broccoli sprouts juice in preventing lens protein aggregation in diabetic rat ***: Totally 25 male Wistar rats were divided into negative control group, diabetic group without juice treatment as positive control and diabetic group given broccoli sprouts juice 0.25, 0.5 and 1 g/d for 28 d. Diabetic rat model was obtained by administering a single dose streptozotocin 65 mg/kg intraperitoneal. At the end of the study, all rats were examined for fasting blood sugar level(FbS), visual cataract score using slit lamp biomicroscope and lens αb-crystallin expression using Western blot method. Statistical analysis was performed using one way ANOVA with post hoc test, correlation test, and simple linear ***: Positive control group had the highest cataract score and lens aggregated αb-crystallin expression. broccoli sprout juice dose of 1 g/d group had the mildest cataract score, as well as the expression of lens aggregated αb-crystallin compared to treatments groups 1 and 2, opposite to lens native αb-crystallin expression. The broccoli sprout juice groups gave a significant decrease in cataract score, and also in lens aggregated αb-crystallin expression in diabetic rat models(Pbroccoli sprout juice has a significant effect in preventing lens protein aggregation in diabetic rat model. The higher dose gives better visual cataract scores, lower lens aggregated αb-crystallin expression and higher lens native αb-crystallin expression.

Unraveling molecular interactions in whey protein-kefiran composite films to understand their physicochemical and mechanical properties

To enhance health promoting properties of edible whey protein films,the inclusion of kefiran to develop composite films was *** and mechanical properties of films prepared with different wpi:kefiran ratios,different percentage of plasticizer and subjected or not to a heat treatment were *** inter-and intra-molecular interactions produced by the incorporation of kefiran into whey-protein films were studied to understand the effect exerted by kefiran on the protein network that may affect the properties of the ***-scanning-calorimetry and Fourier-transform–infrared-spectroscopy studies revealed that kefiran does not affect proteins denaturation,but rather modifies protein-protein interactions in the films,exhibiting a change in wpi secondary structure and a drop in films'melting *** wpi:kefiran films had higher opacity,lower water content and lower water activity compared to single wpi *** of kefiran into the films decreases tensile strength and elastic modulus and produces an increment in the elongation at break *** was confirmed that the addition of a whey-protein denaturation step produces an improvement in the protein network that is crucial for the mechanical behavior of the *** the molecular interactions within composite films greatly aids in obtaining novel formulations with tailor-made physicochemical properties.

Effects of atmospheric circulation on summertime precipitation variability and glacier mass balance over the Tuyuksu Glacier in Tianshan Mountains, Kazakhstan

The amount and the form of precipitation have significant effects on glacier mass balances in high al- titude mountain areas by controlling the accumulation, the ablation and the energy balance of a glacier through impact on the surface albedo. The liquid precipitation has negative effects on glacier accumulation and may in- crease the ablation of surface ice through the heat input for melting. The timing and the forms of precipitation over glacierized regions depend on the weather processes both locally and regionally. Early studies showed that regional to large-scale atmospheric circulation processes play a key role in affecting the precipitation events over glaciers. This paper analyzed the relationship between the inter-annual variability of the summertime precipitation over the Tuyuksu Glacier and the atmospheric circulation types, which related to various atmospheric circulation types in the Northern Hemisphere. Results indicated that the decrease in the duration of zonal processes and the increase in the meridional northern processes were observed in the last decade. The total summer precipitation associated with these processes also increased along with an increase of summertime solid precipitation. Although the decadal fluctuation of glaciological parameters were found in dependent of the above large-scale atmospheric circulation processes, global warming was a dominant factor leading to the mass loss in the recent decades under the back- ground of the increase in precipitation over the Tuyuksu Glacier.

An Integrated Causal Path Identification Method

Finding causality merely from observed data is a fundamental problem in science. The most basic form of this causal problem is to determine whether X leads to Y or Y leads to X in the case of joint observation of two variables X, Y. In statistics, path analysis is used to describe the direct dependence between a set of variables. but in fact, we usually do not know the causal order between variables. However, ignoring the direction of the causal path will prevent researchers from analyzing or using causal models. In this study, we propose a method for estimating causality based on observed data. First, observed variables are cleaned and valid variables are retained. Then, a direct linear non-Gaussian acyclic graph models(DirectLiNGAM) estimates the causal order K between variables. The third step is to estimate the adjacency matrix b of the causal relationship based on K. Next, since b is not convenient for model interpretation, we use adaptive lasso to prune the causal path and variables. Further, a causal path graph and a recursive model are established. Finally, we test and debug the recursive model, obtain a causal model with good fit, and estimate the direct, indirect and total effects between causal variables. This paper overcomes the randomness assigning causal order to variables. This study is different from the researcher’s understanding of his own model by generating some form of simulation data. The simplest and relatively unsmooth statistical learning method used in this study has obvious advantages in the field of interpretable machine learning.

Females choose gentle, but not healthy or macho males in Campbell dwarf hamsters （Phodopus campbelli Thomas 1905）

Androgen-dependent male sexual traits （STs） as well as immunocompetence are theoreticallyassumed to be key indicators of a male＇s quality for the mate-choosing female. We studied matechoice by sexually motivated （SM） females of Campbell＇s dwarf hamsters. Females chose between2 tethered male siblings that differed in expression of STs. Males were unrelated to the female andable to contact and copulate with her. In both males, we measured sex-related morphology ofbody mass, mid-ventral specific skin gland, ano-genital distance, and external testicular *** also estimated levels of blood testosterone and cortisol, specific T- and b-cell immune re-sponses to antigens, as well as aggressive and sexual dominance in sibling males through add-itional encounter experiments with another SM female （male sibs could freely compete for thefemale）. We found that SM females chose a partner among 2 male sibs and spent over 80% of theirtime on average with the preferred male compared with the non-preferred one. Her choice was notassociated with the first visit of the chosen male, with a higher expression of sex-related traits,higher levels of blood testosterone, or with aggressive dominance. The choice was not associatedwith the intensity of T-cell immune response to phitohemagglutinin （PHA）. Instead there was a ten-dency for a negative relationship with the expression of STs and b-cell response to the antigenchallenge. The only character that unambiguously influenced female choice was the non-aggressive male to female grooming during sexual contact. There was no difference in breedingsuccess between preferred and non-preferred males paired with virgin females.

Item-level Forecasting for E-commerce Demand with High-dimensional Data Using a Two-stage Feature Selection Algorithm

With the rapid development of information technology and fast growth of Internet users,e-commerce nowadays is facing complex business environment and accumulating large-volume and highdimensional *** brings two challenges for demand ***,e-merchants need to find appropriate approaches to leverage the large amount of data and extract forecast features to capture various factors affecting the ***,they need to efficiently identify the most important features to improve the forecast accuracy and better understand the key drivers for demand *** solve these challenges,this study conducts a multi-dimensional feature engineering by constructing five feature categories including historical demand,price,page view,reviews,and competition for e-commerce demand forecasting on *** then propose a two-stage random forest-based feature selection algorithm to effectively identify the important features from the high-dimensional feature set and avoid *** test our proposed algorithm with a large-scale dataset from the largest e-commerce platform in *** numerical results from 21,111 items and 109 million sales observations show that our proposed random forest-based forecasting framework with a two-stage feature selection algorithm delivers 11.58%,5.81%and 3.68%forecast accuracy improvement,compared with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA),Random Forecast,and Random Forecast with one-stage feature selection approach,respectively,which are widely used in literature and *** study provides a useful tool for the practitioners to forecast demands and sheds lights on the b2C e-commerce operations management.

A regional profile of AChE activity was noted in the Indian termite queen Odontotermes redemanni with the head recording the higher and body the lower range of *** enzyme characteristics such as substrate and temperature optima were more or less similar while pH requirement for optimum AChE activity varied from 7.0 to 7.6 In vitro inhibition of head and body AChE was studied using pure and commercial anticholinesterase ***,the commercial formulations like Metacid-50 and Carbaryl are potent enough at 1×10^(-8)M to produce 50%in vitro inhibition of AChE of head and body regions within 15 min of preincubation.A 20 min of preincubation(t0.5)was necessary to record 50%in vitro inhibition of AChE with known and pure anticholinesterase compounds such as DFP(3.5×10^(-10)M)and physostigmine(3.6×10^(-10)M).It is surmised that(a)the response of the head and body AChE to the commercial formulations of the insecticides may be used as a reliable and sensitive bioindicator of pesticidal contamination of the terrestrial environment and(b)termite control may be successfully done with the application of organophosphate or carbamate compounds.

Aeration performances and air—Water mass transfer on steep stepped weirs with horizontal and inclined steps

At hydraulic structures,some strong interactions may develop between fast flowing waters and the air adjacent to the water in motion that enhance the air-water transfer of atmospheric and volatile gases in the *** turn,in-stream structures may contribute to the aeration and re-oxygenation during *** present study aims to characterize the aeration performance of a steep stepped weir,based upon a detailed physical investigation of air-water interfacial properties across a relatively wide range of *** data showed a strong fragmentation of the air-water flows,a very broad range of entrained bubbles and drops,and a large amount of particle *** results implied a monotonic increase in re-aeration with increasing rate of energy dissipation,while the largest aeration efficiency was observed on the horizontal step weir chute,with the smallest on the 1V:2.33H inclined downward ***,the study showed that a steep stepped chute can make a sizeable contribution to the re-oxygenation of the waters,although the downward inclined steps reduce the re-aeration performances.
