The risk of thromboembolism is increased in inflammatory bowel disease and its symptoms may be overlooked. Furthermore, its treatment can be complex and is not without complications. We describe a case of an adolescent boy who developed a cerebral sinus venous thrombosis during a relapse of his ulcerative colitis and who, while on treatment with heparin, developed heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). The treatment was then switched to fondaparinux, a synthetic and selective inhibitor of activated factor .

Transformation by Agrobacterium tumefaciens, an important tool in modern plant research, involves the integration of T-DNA initially present on a plasmid in agrobacteria into the genome of plant cells. The process of attachment of the agrobacteria to plant cells and the transport of T-DNA into the cell and further to the nucleus has been well described. However, the exact mechanism of integration into the host＇s DNA is still unclear, although several models have been proposed. During confirmation of T-DNA insertion alleles from the GABI-Kat collection of Arabidopsis thaliana mutants, we have generated about 34 000 sequences from the junctions between inserted T-DNA and adjacent genome regions. Here, we describe the evaluation of this dataset with regard to existing models for T-DNA integration. The results suggest that integration into the plant genome is mainly mediated by the endogenous plant DNA repair machinery. The observed integration events showed characteristics highly similar to those of repair sites of double- strand breaks with respect to microhomology and deletion sizes. In addition, we describe unexpected integration events, such as large deletions and inversions at the integration site that are relevant for correct interpretation of results from T-DNA insertion mutants in reverse genetics experiments.

Purpose: Cooperation between organizations is an often-suggested remedy for handling unsolved borderland problems. However, actual projects aiming at cooperation are seldom very successful. The purpose here is to highlight obstacles related to cooperation between different organizations based on a case study of a rehabilitation project where health care and several social service organizations (social insurance, social welfare, and the local employment agency) were involved. Data were gathered through participation and interviews. Findings: It seems that efficient cooperation requires an understanding of the participating organizations’ differences in work logic as well as work practices. Furthermore, only certain fairly standardized “normal” problems may be handled through organized cooperation while non-routine exceptional problem requires a more fully integrated work organization. Implications: Obstacles to cooperation are highlighted and ways to improve the possibilities of cooperation between organizations are suggested although such possibilities are generally hampered by differences in work logic.

The Nordic countries, including Greenland, have a long tradition in mining. The industrial minerals sector is expanding in most Nordic countries and extensive development has taken place during the last few years. The main commodities mined are carbonate rocks, quartz, feldspar, apatite, olivine and talc. A number of diferent types of dimension stones are quarried in all countries. Rock aggregates are increasingly important, replacing sand and gravel aggregate as construction materials in some countries due to the need to protect ground water supplies.

这份卒中后机械取栓治疗共识声明的原始版本于2014年11月16—18日在斯德哥尔摩召开的欧洲卒中组织（European Stroke Organisation, ESO）-卡罗林斯卡卒中更新会议期间得到批准。根据会议安排，在2015年利用新的临床试验数据对该声明进行了更新。2015年2月，在瑞士伯尔尼召开的ESO冬季培训会期间组织了面对面会议对共识声明进行修订，然后通过电子邮件交换意见，最终版本得到各学会的认可。推荐意见与原始版本一致，证据等级更新到2015年2月20日为止，在2015年5月15日获得确认。ESO-卡罗林斯卡卒中更新会议的目的在于总结卒中治疗研究的最新进展并探讨如何将这些最新研究结果应用于临床实践。共识会议选择了一些议题进行讨论，与会者草拟一份共识声明并进行讨论。该声明接受了ESO指南委员会的指导。这份共识声明包括对急性卒中后机械取栓治疗的推荐意见，得到欧洲卒中组织ESO、欧洲神经微创治疗学会（European Society of Minimally Invasive Neurological Therapy, ESMINT）、欧洲神经放射学学会（European Society of Neuroradiology, ESNR）和欧洲神经病学学会（European Academy of Neurology, EAN）的支持。
