Protective effects of Phyllanthus acidus(L.) Skeels leaf extracts on acetaminophen and thioacetamide induced hepatic injuries in Wistar rats

Objective:To investigate and compare the hepatoprotective effects of crude ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Phyllanthus acidus（L.） Skeels（***） leaves on acetaminophen（APAP） and thioacetamide（TAA） induced liver toxicity in wistar *** was the reference hepatoprotective ***:In two different sets of experiments,the *** extracts （200 and 400 mg/kg,body weight） and silymarin（100 mg/kg,body weight） were given orally for 7 days and a single dose of APAP（2 g/kg,per oral） or TAA（100 mg/kg,subcutaneous） were given to *** level of serum aspartate transaminase（AST）,alanine transaminase（ALT）,alkaline phosphatase（ALP）,total bilirubin and total protein were monitored to assess hepatotoxicity and ***:APAP or TAA administration caused severe hepatic damage in rats as evident from significant rise in serum AST,ALT,ALP,total bilirubin and concurrent depletion in total serum *** *** extracts and silymarin prevented the toxic effects of APAP or TAA on the above serum parameters indicating the hepatoprotective *** aqueous extract was found to be more potent than the corresponding ethanolic extract against both *** phenolic and flavonoid content（175.02±4.35 and 74.68±1.28,respectively） and 2,2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazil（DPPH）[IC50=（33.2±0.31）μg/mL]scavenging potential was found maximum with aqueous extract as compared to ethanolic ***:The results of present study suggests that the aqueous extract of *** leaves has significant hepatoprotective activity on APAP and TAA induced hepatotoxicity,which might be associate with its high phenolic and flavonoid content and antioxidant properties.

目的:证实西印度醋栗(Phyllanthus acidus(L.)Skeels)的果实在传统医学中作为保肝药使用的药用用途。方法:连续5d分别给予各组大鼠西印度醋栗果实的70%乙醇提取物(100,200和400mg/kg口服)及对照药水飞蓟素(100mg/kg口服)并于第2天及第3天皮下注射四氯化碳(2mL/kg)。测定血清天冬氨酸氨基转移酶(aspartate transaminase,AST)、丙氨酸氨基转移酶(alanine transaminase,ALT)、碱性磷酸酶(alkaline phosphatase,ALP)、总胆红素以及总蛋白并进行肝脏组织病理学检测。检测大鼠肝组织匀浆中的氧化应激标记物如脂质过氧化反应(lipid peroxidation,LPO)、还原型谷胱甘肽(reduced glutathione,GSH)、超氧化物歧化酶(superoxide dismutase,SOD)、过氧化氢酶(catalase,CAT)以及谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(glutathione peroxidase,GPx)以衡量西印度醋栗的体外抗氧化作用。此外,本实验还记录了伊维巴诱导的给药后小鼠睡眠时间,使用2,2-二苯基-1-苦基肼(2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil,DPPH)法测定小鼠服药后的自由基清除率。结果:与对照组相比,西印度醋栗果实的乙醇提取物及水飞蓟素均显著降低了模型大鼠血清AST、ALT和ALP水平及LPO并升高了TP、GSH、SOD、CAT和GPx的水平(P<0.01或P<0.05)。大鼠肝脏组织的组织病理学切片结果也证实了以上实验结果。在小鼠实验中,与对照组相比,西印度醋栗果实的乙醇提取物显著缩短了伊维巴诱导的小鼠睡眠时间(P<0.01),并具有较高的DPPH清除率。结论:本研究的实验结果证实了西印度醋栗果实对四氯化碳引起的大鼠急性过氧化肝损伤的保护作用,机制可能与其抗氧化作用及自由基清除功能有关。

Gastric conduit perforation

As patients with carcinoma of the esophagus live longer, complications associated with the use of a gastric conduit are increasing. Ulcers form in the gastric conduit in 6.6% to 19.4% of patients. There are a few reports of perforation of a gastric conduit in the English literature. Almost all of these were associated with serious complications. We report a patient who developed a tension pneumothorax consequent to spontaneous perforation of an ulcer in the gastric conduit 7 years after the index surgery in a patient with carcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction. He responded well to conservative management. Complications related to a gastric conduit can be because of multiple factors. Periodic endoscopic surveillance of gastric conduits should be considered as these are at a higher risk of ulcer formation than a normal stomach. Long term treatment with proton pump inhibitors may decrease complications. There are no guidelines for the treatment of a perforated gastric conduit ulcer and the management should be individualized.

Adaptive relay co-ordination using a busbar splitting approach for a system integrity protection scheme

Power system faults can often result in excessively high *** sustained for a long time,such high currents can damage system ***,it is desirable to operate the relays in the minimum possible *** this paper,a busbar splitting approach is used for adaptive relay setting and co-ordination purposes for a system integrity protec-tion scheme(SIPS).Whenever a fault occurs,the busbar splitting scheme splits a bus to convert a loop into a radial *** splitting schemes are chosen such that the net fault current is also *** splitting elimi-nates the dependency upon minimum breakpoints set(MBPS)and reduces the relay operating time,thus making it *** proposed methodology is incorporated into the IEEE 14-bus and IEEE 30-bus systems with single and multiple fault *** modeling and simulation carried out in ETAP,and the results of the proposed busbar splitting-based relay co-ordination are compared with the MBPS splitting-based relay co-ordination.

Acclimatization of microalgae Arthrospira platensis for treatment of heavy metals in Yamuna River

Bioaccumulation and biosorption in microalgae are effective approaches for the removal of heavy metals(HMs)from river *** objective of this study was to investigate the potential for use of acclimatized microalgae in the removal of HMs from the Yamuna River water as an acclimatizing *** active culture of Arthrospira platensis(***)was acclimatized to HMs up to a concentration of 100 mg/*** was gradually exposed to increasing concentrations of HMs in five subsequent batches with a step increase of 20 mg/L to acclimatize live cells in the simulated Yamuna River *** presence of high levels of HMs in the Yamuna River water caused growth *** empirical growth inhibition model was developed,and it predicted high threshold concentrations of HMs(210.7e424.5 mg/L),producing a positive specific growth rate of *** also showed high average removal efficiencies of HMs,including 74.0%for Cu,77.0%for Cd,50.5%for Ni,76.0%for Cr,76.5%for Pb,and 63.5%for Co,from HMs-enriched Yamuna River *** findings demonstrated that the maximum specific removal amounts of Cu,Cd,Ni,Cr,Pb,and Co were 54.0,58.0,39.0,62.8,58.9,and 45.3 mg/g,*** maximum yields of the value-added products chlorophyll and phycocyanin were 2.5 mg/g(in a batch of 40 mg/L for Cd)and 1054 mg/g(in a batch of 20 mg/L for Cu),***,acclimatized *** was proven to be a potential microalga not only for sequestration of HMs but also for production of valuable pigments.

The majority of landslides in the Indian Himalayas are triggered by rainfall and *** geology and geomorphology also play an important role and constitute the major predisposing factor controlling ***,active tectonics modify the landscape,impacting the occurrence and distribution of *** objective of this study is to investigate the role of some of the major predisposing factors to assess landslide patterns in the Yamuna River Basin as it is prone to recurrent landslide *** approach mainly deals with the application of geographical information system-based statistical analysis and quantifying frequency-area distribution of rainfalltriggered landslides for the years 2015 to *** analysis shows that the frequency of landslides is highest in the slope range 40°-70°and the mean landslide size is higher in the slope range 0°-20°and 30°-40°,remaining constant on further increase in slope *** study shows that some critical slope range controls both the frequency and size of *** were mostly restricted to south facing *** 91%of the landslide occur in the drainage density range of 1.2 to 2.1 km/km^(2) while landslides show very low occurrence in either lower(2.1)drainage *** distribution analysis of landslides depicts a distinct cutoff point but an indistinct rollover ***-sampling of small landslides can be a reasonable cause for *** other studies,the present data fits very well for medium and large landslides following an inverse power law with a scaling exponent *** 80% of landslides are smaller than the cutoff size and 20% larger than this *** geology and tectonics of Lesser Himalayas and Sivaliks offer favorable conditions for frequent *** such as Dehradun,Uttarkashi,Sirmaur,Shimla,and Solan are very prone to landslide activity owing to the presence of poorly consolidated sandstone,conglomerate,quartzites,phylli

Since the failure of traditional therapy, gene therapy using functional DNA sequence and small RNA/DNA molecules(oligonucleotide) has become a promising avenue for cancer treatment. The discovery of RNA molecules has impelled researchers to investigate small regulatory RNA from various natural and artificial sources and determine a cogent target for controlling tumor progression. Small regulatory RNAs are used for therapeutic silencing of oncogenes and aberrant DNA repair response *** their advantages, therapies based on small RNAs exhibit limitations in terms of stability of therapeutic drugs, precisionbased delivery in tissues, precision-based intercellular and intracellular targeting, and tumor heterogeneity-based responses. In this study, we summarize the potential and drawbacks of small RNAs in nucleic acid therapeutics for cancer.

In this paper, we have investigated a model with three interacting species： non-toxic phy- toplankton, toxic phytoplankton and zooplankton with Holling type II and III functional responses over the space and time. The role of toxin producing phytoplankton （TPP） has been studied. We have presented the theoretical analysis of pattern formation in spatially distributed population with local diffusion. The paper highlights the hetero- geneity of HABs over space and time. The choice of parameter values and the functional response is important to study the effect of TPP, also it would depend more on the non- linearity of the system. With the help of numerical simulations, we have observed the spatial and spatiotemporal patterns for plankton system. This study demonstrates that TPP plays an important role in controlling the dynamics. We have observed that prey＇s anti-predator efforts promote predator switching. It has been found that high predation of TPP helps for the coexistence of toxic, non-toxic phytoplankton and zooplankton population.

The rise of automation with Machine-Type Communication(MTC)holds great potential in developing Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)-based applications such as smart cities,Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS),supply chains,and smart industries without any human ***,MTC has to cope with significant security challenges due to heterogeneous data,public network connectivity,and inadequate security *** overcome the aforementioned issues,we have proposed a blockchain and garlic-routing-based secure data exchange framework,i.e.,GRADE,which alleviates the security constraints and maintains the stable connection in ***,the Long-Short-Term Memory(LSTM)-based Nadam optimizer efficiently predicts the class label,i.e.,malicious and non-malicious,and forwards the non-malicious data requests of MTC to the Garlic Routing(GR)*** GR network assigns a unique ElGamal encrypted session tag to each machine partaking in ***,an Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)is applied to encrypt the MTC data ***,the InterPlanetary File System(IPFS)-based blockchain is employed to store the machine's session tags,which increases the scalability of the proposed GRADE ***,the proposed framework has utilized the indispensable benefits of the 6G network to enhance the network performance of ***,the proposed GRADE framework is evaluated against different performance metrics such as scalability,packet loss,accuracy,and compromised rate of the MTC data *** results show that the GRADE framework outperforms the baseline methods in terms of accuracy,i.e.,98.9%,compromised rate,i.e.,18.5%,scalability,i.e.,47.2%,and packet loss ratio,i.e.,24.3%.
