The present study is focused on the development of a methodology pertaining to the evacuation plans improvement in a scenario where infrastructures are located in residential settlements that might be threatened by fires;the aforesaid settlements are oftentimes found to be resided by vulnerable population groups, namely elderly people, handicapped people and children. The study pinpoints Evacuation Assembly Points (E.A.P.s) on the outskirts of their settlement and examines the evacuation routes accessibility and safety by way of utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GISs). What is more, our meticulously planned methodology combining quantitative analysis, as well as participatory planning, allows for improve strategies targeted on how to effectively ensure the vulnerable population groups evacuation. The study’s results exhibit how vital it is to integrate technological tools in combination with each community’s partaking in the process of preparing and implementing evacuation plans. The study’s findings furthermore suggest the need to further research the evolution of dynamic evacuation models, which would take the ever-changing and ever-evolving needs of vulnerable population groups into account.

Recombineering is an essential tool for molecular biologists,allowing for the facile and efficient manipulation of bacterial genomes directly in cells without the need for costly and laborious in vitro manipulations involving restriction *** main workhorses behind recombineering are bacteriophage proteins that promote the single-strand annealing(SSA)homologous recombination pathway to repair double-stranded DNA *** there have been several reviews examining recombineering methods and applications,comparatively few have focused on the mechanisms of the proteins that are the key players in the SSA pathway:a 5′→3′exonuclease and a single-strand annealing protein(SSAP or“annealase”).This review dives into the structures and functions of the two SSA recombination systems that were the first to be developed for recombineering in ***:the RecET system from *** Rac prophage and the𝜆Red system from bacteriophageλ.By comparing the structures of the RecT and Red𝛽annealases,and the RecE and𝜆Exo exonucleases,we provide new insights into how the structures of these proteins dictate their *** the sequence conservation of the𝜆λExo and RecE exonucleases gives more profound insights into their critical functional ***,as recombineering accelerates and evolves in the laboratory,a better understanding of the mechanisms of the proteins behind this powerful technique will drive the development of improved and expanded capabilities in the future.

The dynamic biogeography of glacial refugia may cause complex patterns of genetic admixture between parapatric taxa,which in turn can mislead their systematics,diversity,and *** investigated this issue for green toads(Bufotes)inhabiting the circum-Aegean region,a biodiversity hotspot of the Eastern Mediterranean.A previous phylogeographic study based on mitochondrial and microsatellite loci identified the hybrid zone between the European(viridis)and Anatolian(sitibundus)lineages of *** all over the Balkan Peninsula,but subsequent range-wide genomic analyses(>1000 SNPs)located this transition in Turkey,a thousand kilometers *** order to clarify the diversity and taxonomy of the circum-Aegean populations,we reconciled these conflicting findings by integrating previous data with pure sitibundus *** results confirmed that the viridis/sitibundus hybrid zone extends in Western Anatolia,but that southeastern European populations feature cytonuclear discordances and a high and structured microsatellite *** remarkable situation may stem from a massive geographic displacement of the hybrid zone during the last glacial fluctuations,an underappreciated yet seemingly common feature among the herpetofauna of the *** study thus contributes to the rising view that mitochondrial DNA can be a poor predictor of current phylogeographic structure,hence the need for genomic data,especially for narrowly distributed ***,the analyses unambiguously support the distinction of a micro-endemic clade of green toads unique to some Cyclades islands,for which we provide a formal taxonomic description.

In this paper, we present an improved multi-order parameter model for multi-component model of polycrystalline solidification. We introduce an interpolation function in the phase field dynamical equation to obtain controllable grain boundary energy at large undercooling. The same interpolation function is also employed in the kinetics coefficient to allow for better control of grain boundary migration. Temperature dependent phase field parameters and noise terms are consistently coupled into the dynamics of a binary system in a manner that allows for quantitative simulations in the thin interface limit. The model is applied to multi-phase solidification in Al-Cu alloy, where a parabolic fitting method is employed to model the free energy of Al-Cu phases and two-phase nucleation is demonstrated in directional solidification.

Mountainous areas have been long recognized as particularly important for the planet and sustainable mountain development is a global priority. In order to improve the socioeconomic development perspectives of mountain societies, efficient and well-targeted energy strategies should be formed. An important step towards this direction is adequate understanding of local conditions and specific features that affect energy sector. This procedure allows the inclusion of "locality" in energy planning and so, decentralized energy production is facilitated. The present study attempts to determine the particular energy identity of mountainous areas. Greece, which is the second most mountainous country in the EU, has been selected as a case study. Essential features of the mountainous space have been selected, namely altitude, inclination, remoteness, lack of productive activities, old buildings/vernacular architecture, in order to explore their interrelation with the energy sector. Based on literature review and research findings the interaction between mountainous character and energy is outlined. Therefore, a framework of the characteristics of mountain energy identity is composed, which can provide support to the formation of specialized energy policy for mountainous areas. Some of the main findings of the present study include the significantly increased energy loads of mountainous areas, the abundance of renewable energy potential in high – altitude areas, the vulnerability of mountain societies to energy poverty and the difficulties in sitting energy projects in the restricted usable space of mountains. Since the literature regarding mountains and energy is rather poor the present paper aspires to be a step towards highlighting the importance of energy issues for mountain areas and societies. Generally,plastics pose a variety of environmental impacts due to their increased use and ***-of-life treatment is a viable way of recovering energy from plastics while at the same time reducing the amount of plastics disposed of in *** paper studies the environmental impact of Non-Recycled Plastics(NRP)-to-energy *** waste treatment processes were considered for NRP:pyrolysis,waste-to-energy(WtE),and *** environmental impact assessment results indicated that conversion technologies such as pyrolysis and WtE are preferred over *** total energy consumed in the pyrolysis process was 24635.7 MJ/*** conversion technologies have a lower environmental impact and produced net positive energy from *** global warming potential shows that pyrolysis(3.91 kg ***_(2))contributes the least to global warming than waste-to-energy(18.56 kg ***_(2))and landfill(17.5 kg ***_(2)).However,sensitivity analysis suggested that the inefficiencies of the current conversion technologies should be *** the two technologies studied,pyrolysis contributed less environmental burden,having a lower global warming potential,a higher efficiency in energy conversion,and less harmful emissions such as selenium and methane.

In an attempt to enhance knowledge on the energy poverty phenomenon in mountainous areas,a primary social survey was conducted in a typical mountainous town of Greece,Metsovo in the Region of *** survey recorded quantitative data of energy expenses and incomes of households and it also captured qualitative indicators related to energy *** findings showed that nine out of ten households in Metsovo are exposed to energy poverty,based on the objective 10%*** subjective indicators revealed other interesting aspects of the *** one-third of the local population live in houses that are inadequately heated and/or present damp *** two-thirds of the local population have been forced to restrict other basic needs,in order to respond to high energy *** the relationships between variables of the survey also revealed some notable *** inadequately heated present statistical significant correlation with the heating system *** inadequately heated houses are also correlated with houses that presented damp-mould problems,as well as households that report arrears in energy ***,reduction in hours of heating system operation is correlated with health *** energy policy in Greece does not include specific strategies for mountainous areas,apart from some differentiations in heating oil *** great extent of energy poverty in mountainous Greece,highlighted by the present representative(with respect to mountainous Greece)study,may have irreversible social ***,a need for specific and effective action is necessary,whose main axes should be an extensive upgrade of buildings’energy efficiency in mountainous settlements and special fuel tariffs for mountainous areas.

Recent studies have revealed concerning declines in bird populations in Europe and other parts of the *** understudied but biodiverse regions,especially those that are located along key migratory flyways,there is an unmet need to evaluate the status of resident and migratory birdlife for avian conservation *** is especially urgent at a time when recent regional studies have highlighted the scale of the decline of the European and Palearctic *** growing community science datasets may help bridge the gaps in our understanding of long-term regional avifaunal *** this study,we used eBird data submitted by observers in Türkiye to undertake the first long-term assessment of the state of the country’s birds from 2001 to *** evaluated population trends based on presence-absence data of species to determine if any birds have significantly increased or decreased in the country so far this *** provide a list of trends for 418 bird species that had large enough sample sizes of eBird observations from Türkiye,and highlight which species have significantly declined or *** found that 63 species have significantly declined in detection while 120 have significantly increased during the study *** findings provide a baseline for the future monitoring of Türkiye’s birds and help contextualize population changes of birds in Türkiye against those occurring at the continental(Palearctic)***,we include movement classifications for all of the bird species in this *** also provide a framework to effectively use eBird data to assess long-term avifaunal changes at the country-level in other understudied ***,we highlight ways in which eBirders in Türkiye and elsewhere can strengthen the quality and value of community ornithology data for population assessments and avian conservation ecology.
