Analysis of Trends of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders in Patients with Systemic Essential Hypertension

Background: Studies have revealed a strong link between sleep-related breathing disorders and essential hypertension. However, the trends of sleep-disordered breathing in hypertensive patients have not been analyzed frequently. Methods: In this prospective, single-center and observational study, random patients with systemic essential hypertension, who were visiting GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, India between December 2012 and July 2014, were selected. After obtaining informed consent, patients were analyzed for symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Subsequently, all patients underwent overnight polysomnography to estimate the events of apnea and hypopnea. Observed data were compared between stage I and stage II hypertensive patients. Results: A total of 51 patients (age: 45.7 ± 13.43 years), comprising 36 stage I hypertensives and 15 stage II hypertensives, were enrolled in the study. About 47% of these patients displayed no symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing. Compared to stage I hypertensives, higher percentage of stage II hypertensives reported excessive day time sleepiness. Sleep latency time and sleep architecture were comparable between stage I and stage II hypertensives. Stage II hypertensives displayed shorter total sleep time and higher snore time than stage I hyper-tensives. Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) values increased with the severity of hypertension. Nocturnal oxygen desaturation was present in 25.0% and 53.3% of stage I and II hypertensives respectively. Mean lowest oxygen saturation was lower and the mean C-reactive protein levels were higher in stage II hypertensives as compared to stage I hypertensives. The mean C-reactive protein levels increased with increasing AHI scores, while the mean lowest oxygen saturation decreased with increasing AHI scores. Evaluation of Endophytic Bacteria for Plant Growth Promotion and Pathogen Suppression Traits in Saccharum officinarum

Endophytes are beneficial microbes that are capable of promoting growth, besides protecting colonized plants against plant pathogens. These microbes are of either bacterial, fungal or actinomycetes in plants. In the study, the endophytic bacteria isolated from sugarcane with their characterization related to plant growth promotion and pathogen suppression have been reported. Roots, shoots and leaves of rooted tissue culture plantlets of sugarcane cultivars of 87A298 and 2009A107 were excised aseptically and isolated endophytic bacterial strains. The strains were identified using 16S rRNA gene sequence based homology. Molecular characterization of these strains was carried out for presence of antimicrobial genes. The results showed that the endophytes isolated from sugarcane tissue culture plantlets were of the genera Bacillus （B. amyloliquefaciens, B. subtilis, B. cereus, B. safensis, B. siamensis, B. aryabhattai, B. flexus and B. velezensis） and Paenibacillus pabuli. There were three antimicrobial peptides （AMPs） producing genes of bacilysin, bacillomycin and fengycin in B. amyloliquefaciens （SE1, SE7）, B. siamensis （SE4, SE16）, B. subtilis （SE2, SE3） and B. velezensis （SE15）. The biochemical characterization assays showed that some of these strains could produce hydrogen cyanide （HCN）, protease, cellulase and indole acetic acid （IAA）. Few strains （SE1 and SE4） were phosphate solubilizers, whereas nine isolates were found to be diazotrophs. Most of the bacterial isolates were found antagonistic to Fusarium sacchari, the sugarcane wilt pathogen under in vitro conditions. Overall, the results suggested the scope and potentiality of sugarcane endophytic bacteria, isolated from tissue culture plantlets, in promoting plant growth and suppression of sugarcane pathogen.

Fatigue Responses of Three AA 2000 Series Aluminum Alloys

In this paper, smooth specimens of three aluminum alloys: AA 2219-T8, AA 2519-T8 and AA 2624-T351, were subjected to the same level of uniaxial (tension/compression) fatigue loading to compare their fatigue responses. Fractographic investigations of the failed specimens after fatigue loading was also conducted using a scanning electron microscope. The fatigue test results showed considerable differences in the fatigue lives of the three investigated alloys with AA 2219-T8 having the shortest fatigue life and AA 2624-T351 the longest fatigue life. The fractographic analysis showed that coalescence of micropores, microvoids, particles cleavage and microcracks are the predominant features in the fracture surface of AA 2219-T8. The fracture surface features of AA 2519-T8 revealed higher resistance to fatigue cracks nucleation and growth when compared to AA 2219-T8. The features depicted mainly partly ductile and partly brittle fracture. The AA 2624-T351 fracture surface features revealed noteworthy ductile failure mechanism. The results suggest a strong correlation between the surface fractographic features and the fatigue lives of the alloys. It is also observed that in addition to the yield strengths and ultimate tensile strengths, the total strain energy densities (SED) may provide a reasonable indication of the relative fatigue performance of the three alloys. AA 2219-T8 had the lowest SED and the lowest fatigue life, while AA 2624-T351 had the highest SED and the highest fatigue life. Thus, AA 2624-T351 would be the most suitable materials for components subjected to fatigue loading.

该文对印度公路和道路运输部所规定的3种级配沥青混合料进行了四分点疲劳试验,并评价了其疲劳寿命。试验采用应变控制模式,加载为频率10Hz的正弦加载,温度为20℃。所有混合料的空隙率都控制在(4.0±0.2)%,同时对沥青混合料进行了马歇尔残留稳定度和间接拉伸强度的测试以评价其性能。在此基础上,提出了一个评价沥青混合料疲劳寿命的新现象学模型。试验研究表明:弹性改性沥青疲劳寿命最长,并且具有最低的应变敏感性。塑性改性沥青混合料太脆导致在高应变水平下表现较差,SMA的疲劳寿命比密级配沥青混合料的疲劳寿命高近5倍。新的模型不仅与试验结果高度吻合,而且在统计上也比传统模型更加可靠。

The influence of cryorolling(CR),room temperature rolling(RTR)and post annealing on precipitation,microstructuralevolution(recovery,recrystallisation and grain growth),mechanical and corrosion behavior,was investigated in the present *** precipitation kinetics and microstructural morphology of CR,RTR,and post annealed samples were investigated by differentialscanning calorimetry(DSC),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and electron back scattered diffraction(EBSD)to elucidatethe observed mechanical *** annealing at200°C,UTS and hardness of CR samples(345MPa and HV127)wereimproved as compared to RTR samples(320MPa and HV115).The increase in hardness and UTS of CR samples after annealing at200°C was due to precipitation ofβ''from Al matrix,which imparted higher Zener drag effect as compared to RTR *** in corrosion and pitting potentials was observed for CR samples(?1.321V and?700mV)as compared to RTRsamples(?1.335V and?710mV).In CR samples,heavy dislocation density and dissolution of Mg4Al3Si4-precipitates in the Almatrix have improved corrosion resistance of the alloy through formation of protective passive layer and suppression of galvanic cell,respectively.

Effectiveness of Clinical Pharmacist Directed-Diabetes Management

Objective: The main aim of the study is predominately utilizing clinical pharmacist in the provision of continuing diabetic education programs to emphasize and re-emphasize the importance of risk factors, prevention, adherence to medication and behavioral changes to prevent recurrences of the disease, their progression, and ultimately minimize hospitalization. Specific goals are to improve clinical outcomes for patients with diabetes—to maintain optimal plasma glucose concentrations Fasting, Postprandial Plasma Glucose, and Glycated Hemoglobin. Study design: A prospective interventional study in the Outpatient General Medicine Department, for a period of six months from October 2018 to March 2019. Results: HbA1c levels were reduced from baseline by −1.107 ± 0.8634, Fasting Plasma Glucose levels and Postprandial blood glucose levels were reduced from baseline by −24.2218 ± 5.70352 and −30.1891 ± 1.40592 respectively. Conclusion: A trained clinical pharmacist by providing diabetes education and care can significantly reduce hyperglycemia, thereby improving the quality of life in diabetes patients and ultimately reducing health care costs associated with these morbidities.

Kiran Nandivada’s Stuck Blade in a Grinder Jar Degenerative Cascade by LSTV at L5-S1

Background: Mario Bertolotti, (1917) described LSTV-Lumbar spinal transitional vertebra as Bertolotti Syndrome a century ago and associated low back pain with it. Yet, it needs to be given significance in general orthopaedic practice even now, and radiologists underreport it. LSTV is a congenital anatomical anomaly that Castellvi classified into four varying types. Purpose: I titled this phenomenon “Kiran Nandivada’s stuck blade in a grinder jar degenerative cascade by LSTV at L5-S1” to clearly explain how an abnormal mega-transverse apophysis with its various variations affects the weight-bearing mechanics as the L5-S1 which is a vital junction where the maximum body weight is directed into both the sacroiliac joints and if a transitional vertebra occurs it becomes detrimental and abnormally redirects the load-bearing forces and leads to a progressive degenerative cascade both proximally and distally. As the L5 vertebral rotations and other movements of flexion, extensions, lateral flexion are stuck like a bent grinder blade, the other areas of the region are damaged progressively as the pelvis, just like the grinder motor tries to move it, resulting in overheating and maybe even a burnout results in the form of facet arthritis, disc degeneration in the normal disc above, the transitional disc at L5-S1, foraminal osteophytes causing radiculopathy, sacroiliac joint arthritis. Material and Methods: Around 200 X-rays of children and adults with this congenital anomaly have been studied between 2020 and 2023. This is a retrospective study. Results: 1) Our study showed an Increased incidence of LSTV at 15%. 2) Patients ranged from asymptomatic, atypical lumbago to classical lumbago with sciatica and claudication. Findings supported facet and sacroiliac joint arthritis and the pain, relieved with physiotherapy, posture corrections, weight reduction, and lifestyle precautions, negating the need for local steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation or surgical excision as

Camera and Voice Control Based Location Services and Information Security on Android

Increasing popularity of Android is making its security issue more crucial nowadays. This paper focuses on one-stop solution to secure Android device against information security and theft. Proposed application protects Android device against theft and helps to control Android device by SMS or using internet connection. By this application once the user has configured the account for anti theft, user can remotely track, sound a loud siren, lock, secretly capture photo of an intruder who tries to break in, get randomly recorded voice of intruder, get thief identity using device web history and can able to wipe all your private data. This data and tracking information will be stored in one central web server database and one can access it anytime through login.

The primary approaches to treat cancerous diseases include drug treatment,surgical procedures,biotherapy,and radiation *** has been the primary treatment for cancer for a long time,but its main drawback is that it kills cancerous cells along with healthy ones,leading to deadly adverse health ***,genitourinary cancer has become a concern in recent years as it is more common in middle-aged ***,researchers are trying to find possible therapeutic options from natural small molecules due to the many drawbacks associated with chemotherapy and other radiation-based *** of research was conducted regarding genitourinary cancer to determine the promising role of natural small ***,this review focused on natural small molecules along with their potential therapeutic targets in the case of genitourinary cancers such as prostate cancer,renal cancer,bladder cancer,testicular cancer,and so ***,this review states some ongoing or completed clinical evidence in this regard.
