Because of the low energy requirement and the environmentally safe byproducts, the capacitive deionization water desalination technology has attracted the attention of many researchers. The important requirements for electrode materials are good electrical conductivity, high surface area, good chemical stability and high specific capacitance. In this study, metallic nanoparticles that are encapsulated in a graphite shell(Cd doped Co/C NPs) are introduced as the new electrode material for the capacitive deionization process because they have higher specific capacitance than the pristine carbonaceous materials. Cd doped Co/C NPs perform better than graphene and the activated carbon. The introduced nanoparticles were synthesized using a simple sol gel technique. A typical sol gel composed of cadmium acetate, cobalt acetate and poly(vinyl alcohol)was prepared based on the polycondensation property of the acetates. The physiochemical characterizations that were used confirmed that the drying, grinding and calcination in an Ar atmosphere of the prepared gel produced the Cd doped Co nanoparticles, which were encapsulated in a thin graphite layer. Overall, the present study suggests a new method to effectively use the encapsulated bimetallic nanostructures in the capacitive deionization technology.

Men with chronic renal failure （CRF） on hemodialysis have been frequently associated with erectile dysfunc-tion （ed）, with an of between 20% to 87.7%. As a result of the multi-system disease processes present in many uremic men, it is apparent that the pathogenesis of ed is most probably multifactorial. Factors to be con-sidered include peripheral vascular disease, neurogenic abnormalities, hormonal disturbances and medications used for treatment of conditions associated with CRF. These physiological abnormalities may be supplement-ed by signifcant psychological stresses and abnormali-ties resulting from chronic illness. Treatment must start with the determination and treatment of the underlying causes. In addition to psychological treatment, furtherlines of treatment of ed in CRF can be classifed as 1stline （medical treatment which includes oral phosphodi-esterase-5 inhibitors and hormone regulation）, 2nd line（intracavernosal injection, vacuum constriction devicesand alprostadil urethral suppositories） or 3rd line （sur-gical treatment）. Renal transplantation improves thequality of life for some patients with CRF and subse-quently it may improve erectile function in a signifcantnumber of them, however still there is high incidenceof ed after transplantation.

Metformin(Met)is a drug developed for the treatment of patients with typeⅡ ***,Met estimation in pharmaceutical formulations and human fluids has gained a growing *** extend requisite data that can be used to assessment of Met quantitatively based on charge-transfer(CT)complexation,the present study describes the synthesis and characterization of CT complexes that formed between drug Met and the organicπ-acceptors picric acid(PA),chloranilic acid(CLA),chloranil(CHL),7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ),and dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone(DDQ).The properties of the formed CT complexes were investigated by elemental,spectral(UV-visible,IR,and Raman spectroscopies),thermal(TG)and morphological(SEM)*** results indicated that the complexation of Met with either PA or CLA acceptors occurs through proton transfer interaction,whereas its complexation with CHL,TCNQ,or DDQ acceptors occurs through n→π*interaction.

Pomegranate fruit and its derived products are rich sources of bioactive *** have many biological *** molasses(PM)is a thick,traditional Middle Eastern syrup used in many recipes for Lebanese and international *** is a highly nutritious product which makes it of great *** purpose of this study was to assess the phytochemical composition,antioxidant and anti-diabetic properties of homemade and commercial PM consumed in Lebanon using samples collected from households in rural areas(n=4)and the market(n=28).The objectives of this study were to determine their total phenolic content using the Follin-Ciocalteu method,their total flavonoid content using aluminum chloride method,their antioxidant activity using DPPH radical scavenging as well as ferrous ion chelating assays and their anti-diabetic activity usingα-amylase andα-glucosidase inhibitory activities with acarbose,a known anti-diabetic drug,used as the standard *** PM samples exhibited a higher antioxidant activity than commercial samples,with the most active homemade PM sample having IC_(50)values of 0.09 mg/mL(DPPH radical scavenging assay)and 46.78%ferrous ion chelating assay).Homemade PM samples also showed higher anti-diabetic activity than commercial samples,with the most active homemade PM sample having an IC_(50)values of 0.63 mg/mL(α-amylase inhibitory activity)and of 0.41 mg/mL(α-glucosidase inhibitory activity)and being almost as active as acarbose with both enzymes(1.5 times).Significant inverse strong/moderate correlations were observed between total phenolic content/total flavonoid content and the IC_(50)value of DPPH radical scavenging assay,indicating positive associations between total phenolic and flavonoid contents and antioxidant *** addition,significant negative moderate correlations were observed between total phenolic/flavonoid contents andα-amylase inhibitory activity,indicating positive associations between total phenoli

Aim:The aim was to assess the impact of hyperglycemia on the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)as well as evaluate survival after curative ablation by ***:This study,which was conducted retrospectively on 107 chronic hepatitis C(CHC)patients with 159 HCCs,was presented to the Hepatology Unit of Internal Medicine Department at Tanta University *** lesions were curatively treated by radiofrequency ablation(RFA)and the surveillance of HCC recurrence was evaluated radiologically every 3 months for periods between 6 and 36 *** 107 subjects,70 were males and 37 were females,with mean age 50.4±9.4 *** patients were divided according to their glycemic state into the following three groups:Group I,which included 37 type 2 diabetic patients,with adequate maintenance of blood glucose,has 52 HCCs;Group II,which included 25 type 2 diabetic patients with inadequate maintenance of blood glucose,has 43 HCCs;and Group III,which included 45 euglycemic non-diabetic patients,has 64 ***:Our results showed that,there was signifi cant increase in recurrence rate in diabetic patients with inadequate maintenance of blood glucose(Group II)compared to those in Group I and Group III(Ped that,inadequate maintenance of blood glucose in diabetic patients was also a signifi cant predictor of poor ***:Inadequate maintenance of blood glucose in diabetic patients is a signifi cant risk factor for recurrence of HCC and for poor survival after curative RFA therapy in CHC patients.

In this work, a numerical solution of the incompressible Stokes equations is proposed. The method suggested is based on an algorithm of discretization by the unstable of Q1 – P0 velocity/pressure ?nite element approximation. It is shown that the inf-sup stability constant is O(h) in two dimensions and O( h2) in three dimensions. The basic tool in the analysis is the method of modi?ed equations which is applied to ?nite difference representations of the underlying ?nite element equations. In order to evaluate the performance of the method, the numerical results are compared with some previously published works or with others coming from commercial code like Adina system.

Faced with the depletion of fossil energy resources and given the current context of the fight against climate change, Renewable Energies (RE) represent an increasingly growing challenge. Of all these energies, those resulting from the biomethanization of biomass now provide an opportunity in the world of farmers and breeders. The treatment of agro-pastoral residues by anaerobic digestion has been the subject of renewed interest in recent years, thanks in particular to the production of energy from biomass, not to mention the production of fertilizers from effluents. Expelled from the digesters. This method of transformation offers many environmental, socio-economic and agricultural interests. Indeed, the biogas obtained from organic matter allows, among other things, to cook, light houses, and produce electricity and heat. The objective of this study is to compare the construction techniques and costs of the biodigester models that exist in Senegal. There are many biodigesters, the choice of an installation depends on the available space and the nature of the soil. Several types of biodigester technologies are installed in Senegal. The GGC 2047 fixed dome, the RMB geomembrane and the BEG geomembrane. First we will describe the construction techniques of the modified GGC model fixed dome biodigester, then of the RMB model geomembrane and finally of the BEG model geomembrane.

The impact of emergency department length of stay on the outcomes of trauma patients requiring hospitalization: a retrospective observational study

BACKGROUND: We aimed to explore the impact of the emergency department length of stay(edLOS) on the outcome of trauma ***: A retrospective study was conducted on all trauma patients requiring hospitalization between 2015 and 2019. Patients were categorized into 4 groups based on the edLOS(24 h). Data were analyzed using Chi-square test(categorical variables), Student’s t-test(continuous variables), correlation coefficient, analysis of variance and multivariate logistic regression analysis for identifying predictors of short edLOS and hospital ***: The study involved 7,026 patients with a mean age of 32.1±15.6 years. Onefifth of patients had a short edLOS(el trauma team T1 activation(TTA-1), higher Injury Severity Score(ISS), higher shock index(SI), and more head injuries than the other groups(P=0.001). Patients with an edLOS >24 h were older(P=0.001) and had more comorbidities(P=0.001) and fewer deaths(P=0.001). Multivariate regression analysis showed that the predictors of short edLOS were female gender, GCS, SI, hemoglobin level, ISS, and blood transfusion. The predictors of mortality were TTA-1(odds ratio [OR]=4.081, 95%CI: 2.364–7.045), head injury(OR=3.920, 95%CI: 2.413–6.368), blood transfusion(OR=2.773, 95%CI: 1.668–4.609), SI(OR=2.132, 95%CI: 1.364–3.332), ISS(OR=1.077, 95%CI: 1.057–1.096), and age(OR=1.040, 95%CI: 1.026–1.054). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with shorter edLOS had different baseline characteristics and hospital outcomes compared with patients with longer edLOS. Patients with prolonged edLOS had better outcomes;however, the burden of prolonged boarding in the ed needs further elaboration.

Laayoune and the Foum el Oued aquifers are in hydraulic communication only at the level of Oued Saguia el Hamra. The present study has accordingly made use of all the hydrogeological, hydrological, geological and geophysical data that preceded the watershed of Oued Saguia el Hamra in its downstream part. These data are by no means omplementary with the objective of having a better understanding of the boundary line between Laayoune and Foum el Oued aquifers and the origin of feeding the sources of Oued Saguia el Hamra. This study will focus only on the previous geophysical studies where a reinterpretation of electrical soundings has proved useful as a result of the recent well-logging results. It makes it possible to highlight the presence of a significant rise in the truncated marly substratum of Oued Saguia el Hamra and depressions (left and right banks) which could correspond to stream channels or depressed areas. At the level of the Wadi bed, there has been a regular immersion of the conductive level roofs from east to west towards Foum el Oued favoring the flow of wastewater from the zone and spraying the brackish water sources towards the groundwater of Foum el Oued. In the light of the reinterpretation of electric polls, plus as well as the geophysical surveys by electrical tomography and high definition made at the right and left banks of the Oueed Saguia el-Hamra, it was possible to verify the existence of dry ridge separating the two webs of Laayoune and Foum el Oued and stream channels or depressed areas of the left bank for drainage of brackish water to sources located along Oued Saguia el Hamra. The true resistivity models tomography profiles confirm the presence of the backbone at the left and right banks and the graben of the left bank for underground water drainage of the web Laayoune to sources welling the river Saguia el Hamra.
