Intrusion detection is a serious and complex *** due to a large number of attacks around the world,the concept of intrusion detection has become very *** research proposes a multilayer bioinspired feature selection model for intrusion detection using an optimized genetic ***,the proposed multilayer model consists of two layers(layers 1 and 2).At layer 1,three algorithms are used for the feature *** algorithms used are Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO),and Firefly Optimization Algorithm(FFA).At the end of layer 1,a priority value will be assigned for each feature *** layer 2 of the proposed model,the Optimized Genetic Algorithm(GA)is used to select one feature set based on the priority *** are done on standard GA to perform optimization and to fit the proposed *** Optimized GA is used in the training phase to assign a priority value for each feature ***,the priority values are categorized into three categories:high,medium,and ***,the Optimized GA is used in the testing phase to select a feature set based on its *** feature set with a high priority will be given a high priority to be *** the end of phase 2,an update for feature set priority may occur based on the selected features priority and the calculated *** proposed model can learn and modify feature sets priority,which will be reflected in selecting *** evaluation purposes,two well-known datasets are used in these *** first dataset is UNSW-NB15,the other dataset is the *** evaluation criteria are used,such as precision,recall,and *** experiments in this research suggest that the proposed model has a powerful and promising mechanism for the intrusion detection system.

A Multi-Level Selective Maintenance Strategy Combined to Data Mining Approach for Multi-Component System Subject to Propagated Failures

In several industrial fields like air transport,energy industry and military domain,maintenance actions are carried out during downtimes in order to maintain the reliability and availability of production *** such a circumstance,selective maintenance strategy is considered the reliable solution for selecting the faulty components to achieve the next mission without *** this paper,a novel multi-level decision making approach based on data mining techniques is investigated to determine an optimal selective maintenance *** the first-level,the age acceleration factor and its impact on the component nominal age are used to establish the local *** first decision making employed K-means clustering algorithm that exploited the historical maintenance *** on the first-level intervention plan,the remaining-levels identify the stochastic dependence among components by relying upon Apriori association rules algorithm,which allows to discover of the failure occurrence *** addition,at each decision making level,an optimization model combined to a set of exclusion rules are called to supply the optimal selective maintenance plan within a reasonable time,minimizing the total maintenance cost under a required reliability *** illustrate the robustness of the proposed strategy,numerical examples and a FMS real study case have been solved.

Numerical investigation of velocity ratio effect in combined wall and offset jet flows

In the present work, we propose to numerically study a combined turbulent wall and offset jet flow(this combination will be denoted WOJ). Several turbulence models were tested in this study: the standard k-w, SST k-w, standard k-ε, RNG, and realizable k-ε model. A parametric study was performed to determine the effect of offset ratio H and the velocity ratio r on the longitudinal and transverse positions of the merge point(MP), the combined point(CP), the upper vortex center(UVC) and the lower vortex center(LVC). Correlations that predict the position of these characteristic points of the WOJ flow as a function of H and r have been provided. Results show that any increase in the velocity ratio causes a displacement of the MP, CP, UVC and LVC further upstream along the longitudinal direction. Concerning the transverse positions, the increase of velocity ratio results in a deviation of the merge point(MP) and the lower vortex center(LVC) toward the strong jet(LWJ) whereas the transverse position of combined point(CP) and the upper vortex center(UVC) is almost independent of the velocity ratio.

Detection of Copy-Move Forgery in Digital Images Using Singular Value Decomposition

This paper presents an improved approach for detecting copy-move forgery based on singular value decomposition(SVD).It is a block-based method where the image is scanned from left to right and top to down by a sliding window with a determined *** each step,the SVD is ***,the diagonal matrix’s maximum value(norm)is selected(representing the scaling factor for SVD and a fixed value for each set of matrix elements even when rotating thematrix or scaled).Then,the similar norms are grouped,and each leading group is separated into many subgroups(elements of each subgroup are neighbors)according to 8-adjacency(the subgroups for each leading group must be far from others by a specific distance).After that,a weight is assigned for each subgroup to classify the image as forgery or ***,the F1 score of the proposed system is measured,reaching 99.1%.This approach is robust against rotation,scaling,noisy images,and illumination *** is compared with other similarmethods and presents very promised results.

Neuromuscular fatigue and recovery profiles in individuals with intellectual disability

Purpose: This study aimed to explore neuromuscular fatigue and recovery profiles im individuals with intellectual disability(ID) after exhausting submaximal ***: Ten men with ID were compared to 10 men without ID. The evaluation of neuromuscular function consisted in brief(3 s) isometric maximal voluntary contraction(IMVC) of the knee extension superimposed with electrical nerve stimulation before, immediately after, and during33 min after an exhausting submaximal isometric task at 15% of the IMVC. Force, voluntary activation level(VAL), potentiated twitch(Ptw), and electromyography(EMG) signals were measured during IMVC and then ***: Individuals with ID developed lower baseline IMVC, VAL, Ptw; and RMS/M_(max) ratio(root-mean-square value normalized to the maximal peak-to-peak amplitude of the M-wave) than controls(p < 0.05). Nevertheless, the time to task failure was significantly longer in ID vs. controls(p < 0.05). The 2 groups presented similar IMVC decline and recovery kinetics after the fatiguing exercise. However. individuals with ID presented higher VAL and RMS/M_(max) ratio declines but lower Ptw decline compared to those without ID. Moreover, individuals with ID demonstrated a persistent central fatigue but faster recovery from peripheral ***: These differences in neuromuscular fatigue profiles and recovery kinetics should be acknowledged when prescribing training programs for individuals with ID.

Simulation of Long Term Characteristics of Annual Rainfall in Selected Areas in Saudi Arabia

Simulation experiments with different stochastic models were conducted to investigate the long term characteristics of rainfall in Saudi Arabia using selected Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA) models. The results of the study indicated that the ARMA models were able to capture the long term statistics for one of the rainfall records investigated (Surat Obeida). However, the other rainfall record investigated in this study (Malaki) was characterized with a slow and long decaying structure and a high Hurst coefficient indicating the possibility of non-stationarity of the data. Trend analysis (Pettitt test) of the data revealed that a break point or a shift in the record happened around 1983 at Malaki. As a result, ARMA models should not be used in modeling the rainfall data at that station.

Optimization of Manufacturing Supply Chain with Stochastic Demand and Planned Delivery Time

In this paper, a manufacturing supply chain system composed by a single-product machine, a buffer and a stochastic demand is considered. A stochastic fluid model is adopted to describe the system and to take into account stochastic delivery times. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the optimal buffer level used in hedging point policy taken into account planned delivery times, machine failures and random demands. This optimal buffer allows minimizing the sum of inventory, transportation, lost sales and late delivery costs. Infinitesimal perturbation analysis method is used for optimizing the proposed system. Using the stochastic fluid model, the trajectories of buffer level are studied and the infinitesimal perturbation analysis estimators are evaluated. These estimators are shown to be unbiased and then they are implanted in an optimization algorithm, which determines the optimal buffer level in the presence of planned delivery time. Also in this work, we discuss the advantage of the use of the infinitesimal perturbation analysis method comparing to classical simulation methods.

Direct Optical Energy Gap in Amorphous Silicon Quantum Dots

A theoretical investigation of photoluminescence spectra for amorphous silicon quantum-dots (1 - 4 nm), at room temperature, were used to study the effect of both spatial and quantum confinements spontaneously via determination the energy peak of maximum intensity transition. The results show a continuous shifting toward low energy peak (red shift) and toward high-energy peak (blue shift), with the decreasing of quantum dot size, due to spatial and quantum confinements respectively. These results have leaded us to believe that such quantum dot size (1 nm) changes the nature of amorphous silicon optical band gap from indirect to direct transition material.

Gift Acceptance and Its Effect on Prescribing Behavior among Iraqi Specialist Physicians

Background: The interaction between physicians and medical representatives (MRs) through gift offering is a common cause for conflicts of interest for physicians that negatively influence prescribing behaviors of physicians throughout the world. This study aimed to evaluate the interaction between MRs and Iraqi specialist physicians through the acceptance of MRs gifts and the effect of such acceptance on physician’s prescribing patterns. Methods: A survey in a questionnaire format for specialist physicians was done during March-October 2013 in Iraq, Baghdad. The questionnaire involves four major parts regarding the approximate number of patients and medical representatives, gift acceptance, medical conferences, and prescribing pattern. Results: In Iraq specialist physicians were visited by 1 - 3 MRs/day. 50% of the Iraqi physicians like to get the educational information by attending conferences outside Iraq. Regarding Gift acceptance, 41% of participated physicians showed a general acceptance to promotional gifts, and 91% of physicians accept low cost gifts but only 41% of them accept high cost recreational gifts. Free samples were used by 59% of Iraqi physicians to treat some people. 77% of physicians prefer prescribing new medications, while more than 95% of participated physicians stated that they stop prescribing these new drugs either due to their ineffectiveness or due to their side effects. On the other hand physicians significantly change their prescribing behavior through shifting not only among generic drugs, but also from brand to generic drugs in their prescriptions. Gift acceptance is directly correlated with such shift and change in prescribing behavior. Conclusion: Iraqi physicians accept various types of gifts from pharmaceutical companies;this can influence physician prescribing pattern and result in early adoption to prescribe newly medications depending on promotional information even in absence of clinical evidence about the drug effectiveness o
