Comparison of Cardiovascular Parameters and Internal Training Load of Different 1-h Training Sessions in Non-elite CrossFit^(®)Athletes

Purpose The fact that CrossFit^(®)is the best-known and rapidly growing concept for high-intensity interval training(HIIT)and high-intensity functional training(HIFT)results in a continuous increase of athletes performing CrossFit^(®).In the more than 15,000 CrossFit^(®)Affiliates worldwide,the training concept is usually offered in 1-h training sessions containing the CrossFit^(®)-related workout of the day(WOD),as well as a general warm-up,movement demonstrations,and skill ***,we report how physiological parameters measured by heart rate(HR)values vary during four different 1-h CrossFit^(®)training sessions of non-elite athletes(n=27)in a local affiliated training center and what influencing factors may *** The duration of the 1-h training sessions were divided into a warm-up part(WU-part),a skill development part combined with strength exercises(A-part),followed by the WOD part(B-part).Results Analysis of HR values shows high training intensity(≥91%HR_(max))not throughout the duration of each training session,only during *** mean HR values in B-part differ significantly compared to the remaining training parts(P<0.001)for all four training *** of different CrossFit^(®)experience levels revealed no significant differ-ence in acute physiological demands and training load between beginner and experienced CrossFit^(®)*** Our results may suggest that practicing CrossFit^(®)in 1-h training sessions combined anaerobic and aerobic exercise intensities,with the training concept allows beginners and experienced athletes to be trained with the same cardio-vascular responses and training intensities.

Metastases of uveal melanoma(UM)spread predominantly to the *** to low response rates to systemic therapies,liver-directed therapies(LDT)are commonly used for tumor *** impact of LDT on the response to systemic treatment is unknown.A total of 182 patients with metastatic UM treated with immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)were included in this *** were recruited from prospective skin cancer centers and the German national skin cancer registry(ADOReg)of the German Dermatologic Cooperative Oncology Group(DeCOG).Two cohorts were compared:patients with LDT(cohort A,n=78)versus those without LDT(cohort B,n=104).Data were analyzed for response to treatment,progression-free survival(PFS),and overall survival(OS).The median OS was significantly longer in cohort A than in cohort B(20.1 vs.13.8 months;P=0.0016)and a trend towards improved PFS was observed for cohort A(3.0 vs.2.5 months;P=0.054).The objective response rate to any ICB(16.7%vs.3.8%,P=0.0073)and combined ICB(14.1%vs.4.5%,P=0.017)was more favorable in cohort *** data suggest that the combination of LDT with ICB may be associated with a survival benefit and higher treatment response to ICB in patients with metastatic UM.

Background Large-river decision-makers are charged with maintaining diverse ecosystem services through unprecedented social-ecological transformations as climate change and other global stressors intensify. The interconnected, dendritic habitats of rivers, which often demarcate jurisdictional boundaries, generate complex management challenges. Here, we explore how the Resist–Accept–Direct(RAD) framework may enhance large-river management by promoting coordinated and deliberate responses to social-ecological trajectories of change. The RAD framework identifies the full decision space of potential management approaches, wherein managers may resist change to maintain historical conditions, accept change toward different conditions, or direct change to a specified future with novel conditions. In the Upper Mississippi River System, managers are facing social-ecological transformations from more frequent and extreme high-water events. We illustrate how RAD-informed basin-, reach-, and site-scale decisions could:(1) provide cross-spatial scale framing;(2) open the entire decision space of potential management approaches; and(3) enhance coordinated inter-jurisdictional management in response to the trajectory of the Upper Mississippi River *** The RAD framework helps identify plausible long-term trajectories in different reaches(or subbasins) of the river and how the associated social-ecological transformations could be managed by altering site-scale conditions. Strategic reach-scale objectives may reprioritize how, where, and when site conditions could be altered to contribute to the basin goal, given the basin's plausible trajectories of change(e.g., by coordinating action across sites to alter habitat connectivity, diversity, and redundancy in the river mosaic).Conclusions When faced with long-term systemic transformations(e.g., > 50 years), the RAD framework helps explicitly consider whether or when the basin vision or goals may no longer be achievable,

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the deterministic and probabilistic tracking methods of diffusion tensor white matter fiber tractography in patients with brain tumors. Materials and Methods: We identified 29 patients with left brain tumors ciculus was reconstructed using a deterministic Fiber Assignment by Continuous Tracking (FACT) algorithm and a probabilistic method based on an extended Monte Carlo Random Walk algorithm. Tracking was controlled using two ROIs corresponding to Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas. Tracts in tumoraffected hemispheres were examined for extension between Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas, anterior-posterior length and volume, and compared with the normal contralateral tracts. Clinical Effect and Tolerance Analysis of Photodynamic/Electroion in the Treatment of Skin Cancer and Precancerous Lesions

The study was dedicated to explore the clinical efficacy and tolerability of photodynamic/electroion therapy of skin cancer and precancerous ***,a total of 60 patients with skin cancer and precancerous lesions,who were admitted to the Dermatology Department of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from November 2013 to November 2016,were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table,with 30 patients in each *** group adopted the photodynamic/electroion therapy,and control group adopted photodynamic therapy(PDT).Two groups of patients were last follow-up to December 2018,and loss of follow-up and death were taken as the end point events of *** frequency of treatment,clinical efficacy and severity of adverse reactions of the two groups were calculated,and Kaplan-meier curves were plotted to compare the progression free survival(PFS)of the two *** results showed that the number of treatment times per capita in the observation group was 3.6±1.1 times,which was lower than that of in the control group(4.1±1.1 times),but the difference was not statistically significant(t=1.760,P=0.083).The total effective rate in the observation group(100.00%)was higher than that of in the control group(80.00%),and the difference was significant(P0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the follow-up time and PFS between the two groups(P>0.05),but the recurrence rate of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).Therefore,the clinical efficacy of photodynamic/electroion treatment in patients with skin cancer and precancerous lesions was superior to that of PDT alone,which increased the risk of
