The effect of the consolidation process on the morphodynamics and fine sediment dynamics of the Río de la Plata estuary is explored through a circulation-wave-sediment transport model. The consolidation model is calibrated based on settling column experimental data. Different simulations are done in order to initialize the mud layer distribution and to investigate the impact of different erosion parameter assumptions on the modeled sediment dynamics. Finally a two-year simulation is done with and without the consolidation process and realistic hydrodynamic forcings. Considering the consolidation process, the model correctly reproduces measured vertical density profiles in the montevideo Bay access channel. The simulated suspended sediment dynamics behavior in montevideo Bay with the consolidation process provides a more realistic deposition pattern in regard to the dredging activities.

In order to optimize ship navigation in the macrotidal Gironde Estuary, a recent project funded by the port of Bordeaux aims at better understand and forecast hydrodynamic and fine sediment transport within the estuary. In the framework of this project, a two-dimensional hydro-sedimentary model is built. The model includes hydrodynamic forcings, mixed-sediment transport, and consolidation processes. The harmonic analysis of the astronomical tides reveals a strong distortion of the tidal wave inducing the growth of overtide constituents and the non-significant effect of tide-surge interactions in annual-scale prediction. Depending on hydrological conditions, river discharge can considerably alter the model accuracy due to the migration of the turbidity maximum zone modifying the bottom *** with measurements shows the ability of the model to reproduce suspended-sediment concentrations in the central Estuary. Sensitivity of the model to sediment features has also been discussed in regard of suspended-sediment concentrations and fluid mud deposits. The model will be further coupled with ship squat predictions and a morphodynamic model.

The~790 ka Australasian(micro)tektite strewn field is one of the most recent and best-known examples of impact ejecta emplacement as the result of a large-scale cratering event across a considerable part of Earth's surface(>10%in area).The Australasian strewn field is characterized by a tri-lobe pattern consisting of a large central distribution lobe,and two smaller side lobes extending to the west and ***,we report on the discovery of microtektite-like particles in sedimentary traps,containing abundant micrometeorite material,in the Sør Rondane mountain(SRm)range of East *** thirty-three glassy particles display a characteristic pale yellowcolor and are predominantly spherical in shape,except for a single dumbbell-shaped *** vitreous spherules range in size from220 to 570μm,with an average diameter of~370μ*** compares relatively well with the size distribution(75–778μm)of Australasian microtektites previously recovered from the Transantarcticmountains(TAm)and located ca.2500–3000 km fromthe *** addition,the chemical composition of the SRm particles exhibits limited variation and is nearly identical to the‘normal-type’(i.e.,mgO)TAm *** Sr and Nd isotope systematics for a single batch of SRm particles(n=26)strongly support their affiliation with TAmmicrotektites and the Australasian tektite strewn field in ***,Sr isotope ratios and Nd model ages suggest that the target material of the SRm particles was composed of a plagioclase-or carbonate-rich lithology derived from a Paleo-or mesoproterozoic crustal *** affiliation to the Australasian strewn field requires long-range transportation,with estimated great circle distances of ca.11,600 km from the hypothetical source crater,provided transportation occurred along the central distribution *** is in agreement with the observations made for the Australasian microtektites recovered from Victoria Land(ca.11,000 km)and Larkman Nunatak(ca.12,000 km),w

We propose to use the low-coherence property of amplified spontaneous emission(ASE) noise to mitigate optical crosstalk, such as spatial, polarization, and modal crosstalk, which currently limits the density of photonic integration and fibers for dense space-division multiplexing. High optical crosstalk tolerance can be achieved by ASE-based low-coherence matched detection, which avoids dedicated optical lasers and uses spectrally filtered ASE noise as the signal carrier and as a matched local oscillator. We experimentally demonstrate spatial and modal crosstalk reduction in multimode fiber(mmF) and realize mode-and wavelength-multiplexed transmission over1.5-km mmF supporting three spatial modes using a single ASE source. Performance degradation due to model dispersion over mmF is experimentally investigated.

In order to evaluate how much Total Solar Irradiance(TSI)has influenced Northern Hemisphere surface air temperature trends,it is important to have reliable estimates of both *** different estimates of the changes in TSI since at least the 19th century were compiled from the *** of these estimates are"low variability"and half are"high variability".meanwhile,five largely-independent methods for estimating Northern Hemisphere temperature trends were evaluated using:1)only rural weather stations;2)all available stations whether urban or rural(the standard approach);3)only sea surface temperatures;4)tree-ring widths as temperature proxies;5)glacier length records as temperature *** standard estimates which use urban as well as rural stations were somewhat anomalous as they implied a much greater warming in recent decades than the other estimates,suggesting that urbanization bias might still be a problem in current global temperature datasets-despite the conclusions of some earlier ***,all five estimates confirm that it is currently warmer than the late 19th century,i.e.,there has been some"global warming"since the 19th *** each of the five estimates of Northern Hemisphere temperatures,the contribution from direct solar forcing for all sixteen estimates of TSI was evaluated using simple linear least-squares *** role of human activity on recent warming was then calculated by fitting the residuals to the UN IPCC’s recommended"anthropogenic forcings"time *** all five Northern Hemisphere temperature series,different TSI estimates suggest everything from no role for the Sun in recent decades(implying that recent global warming is mostly human-caused)to most of the recent global warming being due to changes in solar activity(that is,that recent global warming is mostly natural).It appears that previous studies(including the most recent IPCC reports)which had prematurely concluded the former,had done so be

Background. The low incidence of ovarian adenosarcomas explains the paucity of available data regarding their biologic markers. Our aim was to investigate the presence of CD10, estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER and PR) in these tumors. Case. Four cases of primary ovarian adenosarcoma were retrieved in our pathology databases. We assessed the immunohistochemical stainings for ER, PR and CD10 in 3 ovarian adenosarcomas without sarcomatous overgrowth (OAS), and 1 ovarian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth (OAS-S). When considering the malignant stromal component, 2 OAS showed the presence of ER and PR, whereas the OAS-S was only ER positive. CD10 positivity was observed in the sarcomatous cells of all 3 OAS but was absent in the OAS-S. Conclusion. The identification of a hormone sensitive disease is the main clinical implication of this study. moreover, the current results add OAS to the list of CD10 positive ovarian tumors.

香港伟业街133号是从旧厂房脱胎换骨,摇身变成的一个玻璃办公楼。这个兼带零售和餐饮的建筑,使用不锈钢填充的玻璃作为唯一建筑材料。项目共18 000m2,坐落于后工业区九龙东内的观塘海滨,是打造九龙东新中央商务区这一城市变革计划的一部分。项目的初衷是创造彻底透明化的办公环境,一个全通透的办公楼将其淋漓尽致地体现。本工程在2013年由开发商基汇资本启动,它将这个区域的工业根源和未来的都市憧憬紧紧相连,现已成为该地区的旗舰项目之一。
