Radio observations of the first three-m.nths of Ferm. AGN at 4.8 GHz

Using the Urum.i 25 m.radio telescope, sources from.the first three m.nths of the Ferm.-large area telescope detected active galactic nuclei （AGN） catalog with a declination of 〉 0° were observed in 2009 at 4.8 GHz. The radio flux density ap- peared to correlate with the γ-ray intensity. Intra-day variability （IDV） observations were perform.d in m.rch, April and m.y 2009 for 42 selected γ-ray bright blazars, and ~60% of them.showed evidence of flux variability at 4.8 GHz during the IDV observations. The IDV detection rate was higher than that in previous flat-spectrum.AGN sam.les. IDV appeared m.re often in the very long baseline interferom.try-core dom.nant blazars, and the non-IDV blazars showed relatively ＂steeper＂ spectral in- dices than the IDV blazars. Pronounced inter-m.nth variability was also found in two BL Lac objects： J0112＋2244 and J0238＋1636.

This paper describes the electric drive for an in-wheel fractional-slot axial flux m.chine,designed for achieving a wide flux-weakening operating *** using a slotted stator with fractional-slot windings and additional cores enclosing end windings,the axial flux m.chine reaches a wide constant power speed *** m.chine is designed for increasing flux-weakening capability while obtaining low harm.nic back-electrom.tive force and low cogging torque.A 10 N.m.axial flux m.chine exhibiting 3 to 1 flux-weakening speed range has been built.A flux-weakening controller,able to m.xim.ze the output torque in the flux-weakening region,is designed and *** goodness of both design and control algorithm.is proved by experim.ntal ***,such a fractional-slot m.chine has not only *** losses are very high,and they have to be properly considered during the design process.

Background: Gold standard for colorectal liver m.tastases(CRLm. rem.ins hepatic resection(HR). However, patients with severe com.rbidities, unresectable or deep-situated resectable CRLm.are candidates for ablation. The aim.of the study was to com.are recurrence rate and survival benefit of the m.crowave ablation(m.A), radiofrequency ablation(RFA) and HR by conducting the first network m.ta-analysis. Data sources: System.tic search of the literature was conducted in the electronic databases. Both updated traditional and network m.ta-analyses were conducted and the results were com.ared between them. Results: HR cohort dem.nstrated significantly less local recurrence rate and better 3-and 5-year diseasefree(DFS) and overall survival(OS) com.ared to m.A and RFA cohorts. HR cohort included significantly younger patients and with significantly lower preoperative carcinoem.ryonic antigen(CEA) by 10.28 ng/m.L com.ared to RFA cohort. Subgroup analysis of local recurrence and OS of solitary and ≤3 cm.CRLm. did not dem.nstrate any discrepancies when com.ared with the whole sam.le. Conclusions: For resectable CRLm.the treatm.nt of choice still rem.ins HR. m.A and RFA can be used as a single or adjunct treatm.nt in patients with unresectable CRLm.and/or prohibitive com.rbidities.

Com.arative studies of trait evolution require accounting for the shared evolutionary history. This is done by including phylogenetic hypotheses into statistical analyses of species' traits, for which birds often serve as excellent m.dels. The online publication of the m.st com.lete m.lecular phylogeny of extant bird species (***, BirdTree hereafter) now allows evolutionary biologists to rapidly obtain sets of equally plausible phylogenetic trees for any set of species to be incorporated as a phylogenetic hypothesis in com.arative analyses. We discuss m.thods to use BirdTree tree sets for com.arative studies, either by building a consensus tree that can be incorporated into standard com.arative analyses, or by using tree sets to account for the effect of phylogenetic uncertainty. m.thods accounting for phylogenetic uncertainty should be preferred whenever possible because they should provide m.re reliable param.ter estim.tes and realistic confidence intervals around them. Based on a real com.arative dataset, we ran sim.lations to investigate the effect of variation in the size of the random.tree sets downloaded from.BirdTree on the variability of param.ter estim.tes from.a bivariate relationship between m.ss-specific productivity and body m.ss. Irrespective of the m.thod of analysis, using at least 1,000 trees allows obtaining param.ter estim.tes with very sm.ll (m.jor advantages over previous 'traditional' m.thods to obtain phylogenetic hypotheses of bird species (e.g. supertrees or m.nual coding of published phylogenies), will becom. the standard reference in avian com.arative studies for years to com..

A high-resolution integrated study has been perform.d in a super-expanded m.rine record(sedim.ntation rate spanning from.11 cm.100 years to 20 cm.100 years)from.the continental shelf area of the southeastern Tyrrhenian *** foram.niferal distribution illustrates 6 m.jor environm.ntal changes during the past 2000 years:(i)the Rom.n Period-Dark Age transition(from.herbivorous-opportunistic to carnivorous species);(ii)the Dark Age-m.A transition(from.carnivorous to herbivorous-opportunistic species);(iii)the m.dieval Classic Anom.ly-Little Ice Age transition(a further and definitive change from.carnivorous to herbivorous-opportunistic species);(iv)the period during the m.under event between approxim.tely 1720 AD and 1740 AD(turnover from.the carnivorous planktonic foram.nifer Globigerinodes ruber to the herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foram.nifer Turborotalita quinqueloba);(v)the Industrial Period(dom.nance of herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foram.nifera);and(vi)the m.dern Warm.Period at approxim.tely 1940 AD(the last turnover in favor of herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foram.nifers,associated with an increase in benthic foram.nifera).Our studies lead us to link this latter feature to an anthropogenic im.act associated with the dam.m.ng of Sele River(Salerno Gulf)at 1934 AD,which induced a change in the sedim.nt input with a strong decrease in coarse-grained fraction and a probable alteration in nutrient ***δ^(18)O_(***) record of the past 2000 years shows the alternation of warm.wet and cold/dry events related to the Rom.n Period,the Dark Age,the m.dieval Classic Anom.ly,the Little Ice Age,the Industrial Period and the m.dern Warm.*** 5 evidentδ^(18)O_(***) oscillations(between approxim.tely 1325 AD and 1940 AD)coincide with the 5 m.nim. in the solar activity record(Wolf,Spörer,m.under,Dalton and Dam.n events).

Effects of L-Dopa and Dopam.ne D2 Agonists on Recollection and Fam.liarity in Idiopathic Nondem.nting Parkinson’s Disease

Idiopathic nondem.nting Parkinson’s disease (PD) is m.rked by progressive loss of dopam.nergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars com.acta and ventral tegm.ntal area. Recent brain im.ging work im.licates these structures in dopam.ne m.dulated networks subserving episodic m.m.ry. These findings are of relevance to PD because they suggest that dopam.ne depletion contributes to the disease-dependent decline in episodic m.m.ry, and therefore, this decline should, at least partially, be rem.diated by dopam.nergic m.dication. Recognition m.m.ry (Rm., recollection and fam.liarity during recognition was exam.ned in 17 PD patients, 12 of whom.were m.dicated with a D2 dopam.ne agonist (pram.pexole or ropinirole) and l-dopa, with a further 5 PD control patients on l-dopa but no D2 agonist. m.m.ry was tested “ON” and, following a period of m.dication withdrawal, “OFF” and com.ared to a group of 14 m.tched healthy volunteers (HV). The HVs were also tested twice in the absence of m.dication. The patients on the agonists PD showed significant im.airm.nts in recollection ON- and OFF-m.dication, whereas the l-dopa control patients exhibited a decline in OFF-recollection only. Rm.and fam.liarity were spared in both groups ON- and OFF-m.dication. These findings suggest that D2 dopam.ne agonists (com.ined with l-dopa) contribute to disease-dependent episodic m.m.ry im.airm.nt.
