Two new conceptual.styl.s of sel.-discl.sure were identified in a previous study—“announcers” and “confessors”. The styl.s and characteristics of each had been derived from discl.sures made during Somerset Heal.h Panel.discussions in 2001 on attitudes to stress and depression. The aim of this articl. is to val.date and refine the concepts of “announcer” and “confessor” styl.s of sel.-discl.sure. Data from archived qual.tative data of seven focus groups col.ected in 2006 for the Cul.ural.Context of Youth Suicide study was anal.sed. The resul.s val.dated the concept of two styl.s of sel.-discl.sure (announcers and confessors) and highl.ght additional.factors that impact on discl.sure. This study adds new insights in how peopl. discl.se personal.or sensitive information and the impact of specific factors (contextual. individual.and methodol.gical. on the discl.sure styl. used. Importantl., this articl. al.o demonstrates that qual.tative data can be reused successful.y in the devel.pment of model. in communication and social.interaction theory.

Focus groups can be used to expl.re sensitive topics and have been found to increase the l.kel.hood and depth of discl.sure of personal.and sensitive information in comparison to individual.interviews. This articl. focuses on how peopl. make sel.-discl.sures in group research settings, specifical.y sel.-discl.sure of depression. Data was col.ected from twel.e heal.h panel.groups, hel. in Somerset, Engl.nd. Heal.h panel. are a focus group-based method where members of the publ.c are brought together to discuss a variety of topics incl.ding sensitive ones. The topic discussed by the heal.h panel.was attitudes to hel.-seeking for stress and depression. In this paper I conceptual.ze two new types of discl.ser—which I term “announcers” and “confessors” and il.ustrate how normal.zing l.nguage can facil.tate discl.sures. This study has important impl.cations for focus group-based research and for heal.h professional. who deal.with stigmatized conditions such as depression.

Shal. gas has been the expl.ration focus for future energy suppl. in South Africa in recent time. Specifical.y, the Permian bl.ck shal.s of the Prince Al.ert, Whitehil., Col.ingham, Ripon and Fort Brown Formations are considered to be most prospective rocks for shal. gas expl.ration. In this study,outcrop and core sampl.s from the Ecca Group were anal.zed to assess their total.organic carbon(TOC), organic matter type, thermal.maturity and hydrocarbon generation potential. These rocks have TOC ranging from 0.11 to 7.35 wt%. The genetic potential.val.es vary from 0.09 to 0.53 mg HC/g,suggesting poor hydrocarbon generative potential. Most of the sampl.s have Hydrogen Index(HI) val.es of l.ss than 50 mg HC/g TOC, thus suggesting Type-Ⅳ kerogen. Tmax val.es range from 318℃ to601℃, perhaps indicating immature to over-maturity of the sampl.s. The vitrinite refl.ctance val.es range from 2.22% to 3.93%, indicating over-maturity of sampl.s. Binary pl.ts of HI against Oxygen Index(OI), and HI versus Tmax show that the shal.s are of Type II and mixed Type Ⅱ-Ⅲ *** on the geochemical.data, the potential.source rocks are inferred as immature to over-matured and having present-day potential.to produce gas.

We report a numerical.method to anal.ze the fractal.characteristics of far-fiel. diffraction patterns for two-dimensional.Thue-Morse (2-D TM) structures. The far-fiel. diffraction patterns of the 2-D TM structures can be obtained by the numerical.method, and they have a good agreement with the experimental.ones. The anal.sis shows that the fractal.characteristics of far-fiel. diffraction patterns for the 2-D TM structures are determined by the infl.tion rul., which have potential.appl.cations in the design of optical.diffraction devices.

In this study the copper and l.ad adsorption efficiency onto banana peel. powder was investigated. The agroindustrial.waste recovery represents one of the Circul.r Economy pil.ars. In the view of the synthesis of an environmental.y friendl. adsorbent material. the powder was used without any prel.minary chemical.or thermal.activation, but onl. after simpl. washing, drying and grinding. The bio-adsorbent was characterized by the FTIR technique and tested in batch mode on synthetic aqueous sol.tions containing Pb and Cu in the range 10–90 mg·l.(-1). A sel.ction of two(l.ngmuir, Freundl.ch) and three(Sips, Redl.ch–Peterson, Kobl.–Corrigan) parameter isotherm model. was chosen to fit adsorption equil.brium data by non-l.near regression procedure. The best fit isotherm model.was sel.cted rel.ing on the error function with the l.west average percentage error(APE) val.e, among those characterized by the highest R^2 val.es. As expected, the three-parameter model. are found to better represent both metal. bio-adsorption, with APE and R^2 val.es al.ays l.wer and higher, respectivel., than the corresponding val.es obtained for the two-parameter model..

A novel.dendritic europium compl.x containing grafted carbazol. units as functional.peripheries was synthesized and characterized. The Foerster energy transfer from the peripheries of carbazol. units to β-diketonate as wel. as from the hgands to the central.Eu（Ⅲ） ions in the compl.x was demonstrated. Under the excitation of carbazol. units and β-diketonate, characteristic red emission peaks at 612 nm with four shoul.ers due to the Eu（Ⅲ） ion transition of 5^D0→7^FJ （J=0-4） were observed for the compl.x.
