BACKgroUND The concept of positive health(PH)supports an integrated approach for patients by taking into account six dimensions of *** approach is especially relevant for patients with chronic *** gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatico-biliary(GI-HPB)disorders are among the top-6 of the most prevalent chronically affected organ *** impact of chronic GI-HPB disorders on individuals may be disproportionally high because:(1)The affected organ system frequently contributes to a malnourished state;and(2)persons with chronic GIHPB disorders are often younger than persons with chronic diseases in other organ *** To describe and quantify the dimensions of PH in patients with chronic GI-HPB *** Prospective,observational questionnaire study performed between 2019 and 2021 in 235 patients with a chronic GIHPB disorder attending the Outpatient Department of the Maastricht University Medical *** questionnaires and data from patient files were used to quantify the six dimensions of *** consistency was tested with McDonald’s ***-order Pearson correlations and t-tests were used to assess associations and differences.A P valueconsidered *** The GI-HPB patients scored significantly worse in all dimensions of PH compared to control data or norm scores from the general *** quality of life,participation and daily functioning,GI-HPB patients scored in the same range as patients with chronic disorders in other organ systems,but depressive symptoms(in 35%)and malnutrition(in 45%)were more frequent in patients with chronic GI-HPB *** scores between the six dimensions were only very weak to weak,forcing us to quantify each domain *** All six dimensions of PH are impaired in the GI-HPB *** and depressive symptoms are more prevalent compared to patients with chronic disorders in other organ systems.

Utilizing biomass waste as a potential resource for cellulose production holds promise in mitigating environmental consequences. The current study aims to utilize pineapple biowaste extract in producing bacterial cellulose acetate-based membranes with magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles) through the fermentation and esterification process and explore its characteristics. The bacterial cellulose fibrillation used a high-pressure homogenization procedure, and membranes were developed incorporating 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.0 wt.% of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles as magnetic nanoparticle for functionalization. The membrane characteristics were measured in terms of Scanning electron Microscope, X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer, antibacterial activity, bacterial adhesion and dye adsorption studies. The results indicated that the surface morphology of membrane changes where the bacterial cellulose acetate surface looks rougher. The crystallinity index of membrane increased from 54.34% to 68.33%, and the functional groups analysis revealed that multiple peak shifts indicated alterations in membrane functional groups. Moreover, adding Fe 3 O 4 -NPs into membrane exhibits paramagnetic behavior, increases tensile strength to 73%, enhances activity against e. coli and S. aureus , and is successful in removing bacteria from wastewater of the river to 67.4% and increases adsorption for anionic dyes like congo Red and Acid Orange.

A quark nova in the wake of a core-collapse supernova:a unifying model for long duration gamma-ray bursts and fast radio bursts

By appealing to a quark nova(QN;the explosive transition of a neutron star to a quark star) in the wake of a core-collapse supernova(CCSN) explosion of a massive star,we develop a unified model for long duration gamma-ray bursts(LGRBs) and fast radio bursts(FRBs).The time delay(years to decades)between the SN and the QN,and the fragmented nature(i.e.,millions of chunks) of the relativistic QN ejecta are key to yielding a robust LGRB *** our model,an LGRB light curve exhibits the interaction of the fragmented QN ejecta with turbulent(i.e.,filamentary and magnetically saturated) SN ejecta which is shaped by its interaction with an underlying pulsar wind nebula(PWN).The afterglow is due to the interaction of the QN chunks,exiting the SN ejecta,with the surrounding *** model can fit BAT/XRT prompt and afterglow light curves simultaneously with their spectra,thus yielding the observed properties of LGRBs(e.g.,the Band function and the X-ray flares).We find that the peak luminositypeak photon energy relationship(i.e.,the Yonetoku law),and the isotropic energy-peak photon energy relationship(i.e.,the Amati law) are not fundamental but ***-like emission in our model results from coherent synchrotron emission(CSe) when the QN chunks interact with non-turbulent weakly magnetized PWN-SN ejecta,where conditions are prone to the Weibel *** field amplification induced by the Weibel instability in the shocked chunk frame sets the bunching length for electrons and pairs to radiate *** resulting emission frequency,luminosity and duration in our model are consistent with FRB *** find a natural unification of high-energy burst phenomena from FRBs(i.e.,those connected to CCSNe) to LGRBs including X-ray flashes(XRFs) and X-ray rich GRBs(XRR-GRBs) as well as superluminous SNe(SLSNe).We find a possible connection between ultra-high energy cosmic rays and FRBs and propose that a QN following a binary neutron star merger can yiel

Quark-Novae Ia in the Hubble diagram: implications for dark energy

The accelerated expansion of the Universe was proposed through the use of Type-Ia supernovae （SNe） as standard candles. The standardization depends on an empirical correlation between the stretch/color and peak luminosity of the light curves. The use of Type-Ia SNe as standard candles rests on the assumption that their properties （and this correlation） do not vary with redshift. We consider the possibility that the majority of Type-Ia SNe are in fact caused by a Quark-Nova detonation in a tight neutron-star-co-white-dwarf binary system, which forms a Quark-Nova Ia （QN-Ia）. The spin-down energy injected by the Quark-Nova remnant （the quark star） contributes to the post-peak light curve and neatly explains the observed correlation between peak luminosity and light curve shape. We demonstrate that the parameters describing QN-Ia are NOT constant in redshift. Simulated QN-Ia light curves provide a test of the stretch/color correlation by comparing the true distance modulus with that determined using SN light curve fitters. We determine a correction between the true and fitted distance moduli, which when applied to Type-Ia SNe in the Hubble diagram recovers the ΩM = 1 cosmology. We conclude that Type-Ia SNe observations do not necessitate the need for an accelerating expansion of the Universe （if the observed SNe Ia are dominated by QNe Ia） and by association the need for dark energy.

Dental microwear of sympatric rodent species sampled across habitats in southern Africa: Implications for environmental influence

Dental microwear textures have proven to be a valuable tool for reconstructing the diets of a wide assortment of fossil ***,some studies have recently questioned the efficacy of this approach,suggesting that aspects of habitat unrelated to food preference,especially environmental grit load,might have a confounding effect on microwear patterning that obscures the diet *** we evaluate this hypothesis by examining microwear textures of 3 extant sympatric rodent species that vary in diet breadth and are found in a variety of habitat types:Mastomys coucha,Micaelamys namaquensis and Rhabdomys *** sample each of these species from 3 distinct environmental settings in southern Africa that differ in rainfall and vegetative cover:Nama-Karoo shrublands(semi-desert)and Dry Highveld grasslands in the Free State Province of South Africa,and Afromontane(wet)grasslands in the highlands of *** differences between habitat types are evident for some of the species,inconsistency in the pattern suggests that the microwear signal is driven by variation in foods eaten rather than grit-level per *** is clear that,at least for species and habitats sampled in the current study,environmental grit load does not swamp diet-related microwear signatures.

Numerical Study on the Mixed Model in the GOCe Polar Gap Problem

Gravity gradients acquired by the Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation explorer(GOCe) do not cover the entire earth because of its sun-synchronous orbit leaving data gaps with a radius of about 6.5° in the polar *** studies showed that the loss of data in the polar regions deteriorates the accuracy of the low order(or near zonal) coefficients of the earth gravity model,which is the so-called polar gap problem in *** order to find a stable solution for the earth gravity model from the GOCe gravity gradients,three models,*** Gauss-Markov model,light constraint model and the mixed model,are compared and evaluated numerically with the gravity gradient simulated with the *** comparison shows that the Best Linear Uniformly Unbiased estimation(BLUUe) estimator of the mixed model can solve the polar gap problem as effectively as the light constraint model;furthermore,the mixed model is more rigorous in dealing with the supplementary information and leads to a better accuracy in determining the global geoid.

Tree diversity and nectar composition affect arthropod visitors on extrafloral nectaries in a diversity experiment

A poor environment increases fish’s susceptibility to myxosporean infection that can cause the death of larval fish,especially for koi fish(Cyprinus carpio).This study aimed to determine the effect of probiotics,local anti-parasitic drugs(kutuklin),and the chemical compound diflubenzuron treatments on the koi immune *** study used PCR with specific primer 18S SSU rDNA and DNA sequencing to detect Myxobulus *** treatments were divided into 5 groups:Treatment(A)(healthy koi without treatment),(B)(infected koi without treatment),(C)(infected koi with 0.55 mL/30 L probiotics),(D)(infected koi with 1μL/g of feed kutuklin),and(e)(infected koi with 0.02 mg/5 L dimilin).Myxospore has observed with Scanning electron Microscopy(SeM)and 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI)fluorescence *** histological analysis using semi-quantitative scoring methods,and flow cytometry was conducted to analyse the immune response of Cluster of differentiation 4(CD4^(+)),Cluster of differentiation 8(CD8^(+)),Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha(TNF-α),Interferon gamma(IFN-γ)cells in the *** show that the histological analysis indicated edema,hyperplasia,lamella fusion,congestion,and hypertrophy lesions in infected *** with probiotics shows the lowest damage(30.6%).The immune responses of CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)cells to dimilin treatment were 10.54%and 16.86%,*** largest TNF-αand IFN-γresponse were for the kutuklin treatment(29.26%)and probiotics treatment(8.23%).
